For food, we ordered the fried ahi, Kalani's wings, short ribs and heavenly rolls. Everything was over-sauced/overdressed, and that's coming from me who is a self proclaimed condiment/sauce queen. We were surprised the fried ahi and the ahi in the heavenly rolls were cooked through and through. Expected the ahi in the rolls to be raw and the fried ahi to be at least flash fried. What a waste of ahi. We'd return for the drinks, which were a steal at $10/ea, but would probably skip the food. Or try the two that we don't order: the fried calamari and garlic fries. We had the shrimp lettuce wraps, Shrimp scampi pasta, Chilean sea bass, and a side of lemon Brussels sprouts. All of the food was great but the lemon Brussel sprouts were my personal fav! We also tried the lychee martini, sweet and refreshing, the pear martini, a bit strong but good flavor, and their espresso martini, creamy and delicious! I am slightly biased since my niece works the bar here, but nonetheless the place was nice and busy on a three day 4th of July weekend. A friend and I stopped by for some sushi and shrimp fettuccine. The two rolls I got were tasty and crispy (Kalani's and Heavenly). Kalani's Mai Tai was perfect. Reminded me of the good times had in Kauai. Really nice restaurant. They quoted me an hr but I got a text that our table was ready only 15 minutes in. We sat outside and it was great. It did get super chilly once the sun set and I forgot a sweater so we were pretty cold. But very attentive staff and they were all friendly. Food was delicious. Definitely get those island wings. Oh wow was it finger licking good. The shrimp lettuce wraps were fresh and super crunchy. A hit for me. Hawaiian poke was good also. My husband loves this place. It brings such good memories for him. This is where we had dinner the night we got married. We had a wonderful meal. This time we sat in the bar, it was late and my husband wanted to watch the end of the NFL game and get a drink. The bartenders were really attentive and asked if we needed more time or needed some suggestions. My husband said he needed more time. She came back shortly and he ordered his drink and I ordered a Lychee soda. It was very bubbily but didn't realy taste like lychee. It was beautifully garnished with a cherry, lemon wedge and their signature flower. It was a pleasant stay in the bar. They should have offered us dessert after we turned down the dinner menus. My friends and I took a trip to Tahoe and found this restaurant for its bottomless mimosas and since it is Hawaiian Korean fusion. The mimosas are good, and the food is amazing. The calamari appetizer was light and fluffy with a good sauce. The Kalbi was some of the most tender I've had yet and the flavor was amazing. I ate my portion and then stole my friends' portions as well. The servers were attentive and the restaurant was clean and classy. Well deserved 5/5! read more

If you are looking for a seafood dinner, this is the spot to go to! From their appetizers to entrees, everything was spot on. They had a wide range of crab cakes and delicious lobster bisque, to a miso-yaki Chilean sea bass that was mouth watering. It was also very refreshing to see a place with both fantastic cocktails AND mocktails. If you can sit inside, I would recommend that, just because it is right in the heavenly shopping area, so sitting outside does mean many people walking past your table. The service was very friendly. All the food he recommended was delicious! Do yourself a favor and order the wings! DO NOT LEAVE without ordering the wings! They were crispy and delicious. Hawaiian kine music playing in the background adds to the light upscale aloha vibe. We were a party of 4 and came in hungry. I like to sample the crispy pork belly at any restaurant that offers it - flavor was good but it definitely was not crispy. The lack of crisp was so disappointing, especially because the dish is called "Crispy Roasted Pork Belly". The wings were good. The raw fish dishes we ordered were fresh. Food here was amazing and the ambiance is super nice and casual. Crab cakes pulled apart easily and had a nice crust that gave the delicious appetizer a crisp. The Wild Mushroom Flatbread was pillowy, not too cheesy, and had fresh tasting mushrooms that were drizzled in a balsamic vinegar sauce that also had a hint of bbq. We ordered a side of lemony brussel sprouts which were one of my favorite dishes we ordered. They were acidic, savory, and had nice burnt edges that gave the brussel sprouts a little crisp. I could eat another plate of those. The Dragon Roll was okay, the rice tasted a little stale but the unagi sauce helped elevate the dish. I was a bit disappointed considering this is originally presented as seafood place but the roll was honestly my least favorite item on the menu. The Mai Tai was great but it was packed with so much alcohol. That's how you know the bartender is doing its job. Fair warning to only drink one cocktail so you can drive safely back home. First, the food was pretty good. The two stars is for the server and the dining experience. The server pointed out a number of dishes on the menu that he likes which was fine, except it seemed like he was pushing for us to order a lot. I ordered a sushi roll and a flatbread for my dinner and my husband ordered the seafood medley, which seemed like plenty of food to us. The server said, "Oh is that it? Don't you want to split a salad or something with it?" When we declined, he said, "Good, you're saving room for dessert." He took my husband's beer order and dashed off before I could ask for a glass of wine. When we called him back he just said, "Oh I guess you want a drink too." After we started eating, he came back and said, "How about I get you another Kalani Roll?" when I hadn't eaten all of the one I already ordered. We finished eating and I asked for a box for the rest of my flatbread and he said, "Okay, what's it going to be for dessert?" We told him we just wanted the check and he said, "Are you sure? Our desserts are amazing. How about another glass of wine?" We felt like he was trying to upsell us the whole time. We arrived at about 8:20 on a Tuesday and they close at 9:00. Admittedly that is late, but in my opinion if you are going to seat someone at that time and take their money, the quality should be as good as any other time. The restaurant was already dimly lit, to the point that we had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu. Shortly after we ordered, a woman went around and started taking all of the little lamps from the empty tables. It kept getting darker and felt kind of dreary. Shortly after that, a small army of workers came into the dining area and started moving chairs from the empty tables, loudly scraping them on the floor and sweeping, then resetting the tables for the next day. There were still about 5 or 6 tables of people still dining, and it was quite disruptive. When we were paying our check, I politely asked that the server pass on to management my feedback about the unpleasantness of the noise and bustling while we were eating. Rather than apologize, he started arguing that it was normal turning of tables that happens in any restaurant, and that if they didn't do it, we would be left looking at dirty tables. We answered that dishes could have been cleared as people left and the chair-scraping, sweeping, and clanking table settings down could have been done after there were no diners. We also said that normal turning the tables happens gradually as people finish, not with 7 or 8 people running around working in the middle of the dining room. He vehemently defended their practice and acted as if we were being unreasonable to expect anything different. Not sure we would eat here again. read more

We ordered the Miso-yaki Chilean Sea Bass, the Macadamia nut crusted salmon, the Wild Caught Seared Hilbut, the Shrimp Scampi, the Island Wings and the Lobster Bisque. Located not far from the Heavenly Gondolas, this unique Hawaiian style restaurant has great service, drinks and food. The interior reminds me of the islands, I will order a MaiTai, and I am ready to have an islands inspired dinner, great dessert, along with great conversation with our friends. We all enjoyed our dinners: first we got an appetizer plate with ribs, shrimp, and crab cakes (an awesome starter), I had the shrimp scampi pasta, and then crème brûlée for desert. Went here for a nice dinner to end our little getaway. We were craving a good steak but all the steakhouses were booked. Luckily, Kalani's had some availability!
