Yelp! Was craving the infamous chicken rice today. Hmmm, something's different. Still, good, but that added ginger or whatever, I don't like. Come here only if you want to eat what tastes like yesterday's food (maybe even further out than that)! The rice was hard and stale. The sesame chicken was hard and stale (and calling it chicken seems generous). Egg rolls were the only good part. Always excellence and staff are super accommodating. They will still make items not seen on menu anymore like full size sweet potato sushi (small size still in Bento box) and full size veggie tempura (not on appetizer menu) or shrimp tempura (still is, I think.) Sushi Village had pretty good food, but I really wish they'd change the TV channel from CNN. When I'm eating, I'd rather not deal with politics and focus on something more uplifting. Alright let me be entirely honest: I used to love this place, but now? I really, really don't recommend it unless you're looking for a small chance for food poisoning or mid sushi. Not only that, but when I even tried to explain my issues to the staff? I was basically snapped at like I was stupid, but what I was trying to talk to them about was: The sushi wasn't fresh, the salads were strangely warm, and the service thus far had been terrible. I don't really feel any atmosphere besides: casual and a bit cramped. One side is tables, the other is the kitchen area with a small walkway. Be forewarned that I know MULTIPLE people who have gotten food poisoning MULTIPLE times from this place, including myself. read more

I always get my order to go and the service is consistently fast. The sushi is the not the best I have ever had but it satisfies my sushi cravings. The only other item I have tried here is the chicken fried rice. It was average as well. I heard the Chinese selections are good so I plan to give that a try. Was in town for an evening needing a quick bite to eat and saw the good reviews here so decided to try it out. We got the spicy crunch salmon role as an appetizer. The flavor was good and it actually had a decent spice. It was a ground salmon filling rather than the chunks that I prefer, but otherwise this was tasty. For dinner we ordered steak and shrimp, and steak and chicken dishes. The food was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food as well as the speed of service. My only "complaint" is that despite being a fairly casual hibachi restaurant, the prices were still on par with what you would pay at a fancier hibachi restaurant with the full show. I do believe you get what you pay for, so wasn't too big of a deal, but I did feel it could be slightly cheaper in some areas. Still, I would absolutely go back here if in the area again as it was a pleasant experience. read more

I love this little place! It's small on the inside so don't even think about coming with a group bigger than 6 because 8 would be PUSHING it. I always get the sushi because it is SUSHI Village lol! It's always great and so cheap! I got 2 rolls (8 pieces each) for $8.95 during dinner time! Fried rolls aren't included in this deal, though. I got the spicy shrimp and spicy crabmeat rolls which were great! If you're alone just sit at the little sushi bar and they'll take your order pretty quickly! Enjoy! read more

The food is always pretty good. However, I had a friend that worked there. The servers do not get the tips. The tips go to the store.

The service was terrible, the server threw our menus down and walked away. The sweet tea tasted awful pretty sure it was very old. Sushi did not taste great and seemed a little too fishy. The price was not bad but the food was lacking along with customer service. Will not be back. read more

Sushi Village is open for take out only right now, but I have been going to pick up lunch at least once per week since moving to nearby this location in July. Quick service, great miso soup and consistently good maki rolls! It's been a go-to takeout lunch for me! I recommend the tuna avocado, salmon avo, and eel avo for a clean/healthy choice. read more

So I ran in for a quick lunch - I had a half hour to burn, and Yelp was pretty positive about these guys. I told them I was in a bit of a hurry and ordered the chef's special sushi lunch. Well, I hit the jackpot. I'll admit - I was a bit squirrely about ordering sushi in Gardendale. But all my fears were laid to rest when my plate landed in front of me. Yellowtail, maguro, shrimp and salmon - generous portions - and that California roll. Oh Lordy. It was heavenly. So now I have a new reason to go to Gardendale - love this place! I went to Sushi Village in Gardendale for supper! The inside was very clean and organized. The food came out in a matter of 10 minutes after we had ordered! The food was hot and perfectly done, as we had ordered. The waitress was very nice and made sure we had fresh and filled drinks. I would definitely recommend everyone trying! This is my favorite sushi restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of sashimi or overly fishy rolls, so I usually get the Black Angel Roll, which has tempura shrimp and is topped with a spicy tuna. I am obsessed with this restaurant. It is located about 20-30 minutes from my house and I drive here often for their Miso Soup. The serving size and price are amazing. In terms of following COVID-19 protocol, the staff does a great job. A mask is required to enter and be seated and all employees must wear a mask. As with most restaurants, the sustainability is as good as is it can be. When dining inside, glass plates are provided along with reusable silverware and glassware. When placing a to-go order, all the food is packaged into plastic boxes, so unless recycled, this is hurtful to the environment. The family went to this location on a Wednesday night. The service was good. The food was good. I did not care that much for their egg rolls but the fried gyozu and the crab cream cheese wontons were delicious. We had the hibachi entrees tonight. They are complete dinners with onion soup, ginger salad, a hibachi protein with vegetables and fried rice. It was all good. I had chicken breast and my wife had steak. Everything was tender and tasty. The fried rice "needed something" so your probably need to mix meat and veggie with it. This place has become a regular lunch spot for my husband and I since we moved into town. The lunch prices are great, and the food is yummy. They've also got a great sushi selection that's always been fresh made to order. I'm not a huge fan of their ginger dressing on their salad, but besides that aspect the food is on par with other Japanese sushi restaurants that cost a lot more if you're looking for sushi and bento box.
