I cannot believe I had one of the best sushi in a food hall at the Miami Design District. The fish melts in your mouth and it combined so well with the sauces. I usually always order spicy mayo on the side, but it was not needed for this roll. We liked it so much that we had to buy it again. Not because we were hungry but it was just that delicious. I also tried the Wagyu hand roll and it was fantastic as well. I also loved the service and cleanliness from the place. I will definitely return to here to have this special roll again.

Recently going to an eating event I found Yasu Tanaka and I knew I had to get a bite. I am always on the lookout for the best sushi in Miami and this place has not let me down.... Those that know sushi know that the rice is where the magic happens but this place goes above and beyond with not only amazing rice but the quality of the fish you get is on par with what I've experienced in Japan... this is one of those places that cares about the quality of the food they put out and your taste buds will sense that love. Can't wait to visit their brick and mortar to see what other high quality items they make that can make my tummy smile.

I first tried the Wagyu and Uni and omg it was my top 3 for best i've ever had. i then decided to do the Omakase special and just WOW. I have no complaints. my three favorite nigiri's were the salmon, wagyu, and toro. It's pricey but i would definitely come back. I tried other places around and Yasu Tanaka tops them all. The service was also amazing. All around 100/10 experience.

Food came out really quick, and the serving felt high quality even though it's a food mall. The server was well dressed and my food looked amazing. I didn't know what to expect, it's salmon with avocado topped with torched salmon, spicy mayo, eel sauce and truffle oil. The salmon was so soft and the torched salmon on top is a great touch, it genuinely melts in my mouth and the crunchy rice crackers on top is an amazing touch. I have no idea how they made it that way but the sauce and oil blends great too, it's one of the few rolls I don't have to drown in soy sauce and can actually enjoy the taste. The actual area has a very nice vibe to it, the ambiance is great there's music playing at the bar area and there's circular overhead lights that gives a nice feel even though it's in a mall.

Probably my new favorite sushi spot in Miami. I have tried all the high end spots (Osaka, Zuma, Paperfish, Katsuya, the Den, Hiden, etc) and the quality of the fish here rivals the best dishes from these. We ordered the omakase platter and thoroughly enjoyed each bite. Also tried the salmon and tuna platters which were both wonderful as well. The only thing that didn't do much for us were the cut rolls. For the price point, the nigiri is well worth it. Hope to check out their new location in Brickell soon!

I happened to be in MIA market checking out the dining options and came across Sushi Yasu Tanaka. What really drew my attention to this spot was the omakase menu: for the price of $60 you receive 10 nigiri pieces and a handroll. Honestly you can't get any more bang for your buck than this! I was so blown away by the nigiri pieces, every bite was so flavorful and FRESH! The tuna pieces especially were so fatty, they just melt in your mouth. The rice is has light touches of vinegar and it's not overpowering. What was also notable to me was the scallop nigiri - while I'm not the biggest scallop fan, the scallop was so fatty and a burst of spice came forth with the first bite. The piece was so unique I had to include it in my review. The service was quick and they serve you the handroll after you've finished with the nigiri. Honestly you are paying for the quality of food without having to pay for the expense of sitting inside a fancy restaurant - which I don't mind one bit. I sat down inside MIA market with my friend and had a wonderful time working through our meal. MIA market is kept very clean and has lots of windows for plenty of natural sunlight. I definitely want to visit again and can say with confidence this is a true gem in disguise.

Only tried their ice cream but super yummy. Will Come back for their sushi soon. Cute place in the heart of the design district.

Sushi Yasu Tanaka is located within the MIA market in the Design District. The MIA market should do a better job at cleaning and keeping a better ambiance in general, while this place looked much better a few years ago, it's just another food hall or a mall food court today, it's not in par with the designer stores just a few steps away from it. Once you enter, it smells to fabuloso cleaner, no kidding. This is not Sushi Yasu Tanaka's fault, it's all on MIA market. As for the sushi, I loved the quality, freshness and flavors of this nigiri selection as well as the presentation. However, this is not a truly omakase, it's just a sample plate. There is a different between omakase and a random selection of a la carte nigiris. Price was alright, not the cheapest, nor the most expensive either. I would say it was ok. All in all, I will return but will order a la carte next time.

Don't get me wrong the sushi here is delicious but it is very pricey for MIA market. I came by for a quick lunch, just 2 hand rolls and my bill was around $28 I think. Wasn't expecting it to be that much but I had been wanting to try it. There's so many sushi options available not sure if I'd come back here specifically. Quality is great though!

If you find yourself at Sushi Yasu Tanaka inside Mia Market, do yourself a favor and try the ube dessert. It might be my new favorite. Layers of sweet purple yam (ube) sit over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, finished with a touch of edible gold leaf--simple but unforgettable. Altogether with tax, it came to just under $13, which felt worth every penny. I can't speak to the rest of the menu, but the service was quick and friendly. The seating area is clean and spay.

$60 for the 10 piece omakase set!
    Elle M.

The quality for the price is truly unbeatable. The service is fast, and the prices are more than fair at $60 for the 10 piece omakase and a handroll. Forget Omakai and all the others and come here. The restaurant is just a stall in a food hall (MIA Market), so it's easy to roll up with a group of any size--even by yourself!--or try other things if someone in your group doesn't want to commit to sushi. It's true that some of the ambiance that come with a traditional, intimate sushi restaurant is lost. You come here for a no-frills, food-forward meal, not sushi Disneyland. If sushi Disneyland is what you're looking for, Miami has plenty of other outstanding options like Shingo and Hiyakawa.

Delicious and fresh sushi in a chill food court setting. Don't be deceived by the vibes because it was quite good! You can order at the counter or on your phone and phone comes out to the tables. Would recommend getting one of their sets!

I stumbled upon MIA market trying to find a drink with bae. I noticed the restaurants in the market, I began looking them up just to check out reviews and to see if they were any good. I looked up Yasu Tanaka and was floored by the amount of 5 star reviews. I told bae, "we have to go there to try at least one thing," earlier we came from Tap 42. :/ ehhh...don't recommend. But we were full. Anyway, I talked to the guy at the front and told him congrats on the amazing reviews and how good the food must be. He thanked us, and persuaded us to at least try a hand roll. We did!! We waited. And they ended up bringing us an extra one! How nice! The Hamachi Hand rolls were amazing!! Super fresh, simple, and perfect. Fresh ginger and a perfect finish to our day! Thank you Yasu! I can't wait to come back to try the Omakase. Another 5 star review for your thoughtfulness and quality food!

My only complaint is that food came out a bit slow, especially considering it wasn't very busy at the time. Like serve me all my orders all at once pleaseeeeee so I can indulge lol What I Had: _________________ Sashimi Assortment - 10/10 Freaking delicious. Light, decadent, and incredibly fresh. Each piece tasted clean and high-quality, the kind of sashimi that melts the second it hits your mouth. They did their thing! Kanpachi Sashimi - 10/10 So good. Soft, delicate, and perfectly fresh. Every bite was balanced and flavorful without being heavy at all. Nigiri - White Fish Tasting - 11/10 Hands down my favorite part of my experience. I ordered multiple rounds (they come two per order), including branzino and snapper. The branzino was unreal. I wanted only branzino... that is how marvelous it was. Topped with this umami crunch that added so much texture and flavor. It was literally mouthwatering, like a burst of flavor in every bite. I honestly could've kept ordering this all night. Nigiri - Bluefin Tuna Tasting - 5/10 This one just wasn't for me. It wasn't fishy, but the texture was very slimy and didn't sit well in my mouth. It didn't swallow smoothly and just wasn't appetizing to me personally. Definitely a pass. Blue Crab Hand Roll - 6.5/10 I know this is a fan favorite, but it was just okay for me. Not bad at all, just didn't wow me compared to everything else I had. For $6, it's fine, but I wouldn't rush to reorder it. Customer Service: 8.5/10 Friendly and helpful, just slightly slow. Overall Experience: 9/10 Will I Be Back? Yes, absolutely. This establishment has been TAMIED™

Parking is mostly limited street parking though, so plan ahead. This spot is more about curated tastings, sashimi, nigiri, and handrolls rather than specialty rolls, so don't expect a huge roll menu. We ordered the sashimi assortment, white fish tasting, seared salmon, bluefin tuna tasting, unagi foie gras, and a few handrolls including blue crab and negi toro. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, especially the bluefin and unagi foie gras. Portions are on the lighter side though, so we left satisfied but not totally full. Cedrick was awesome and really made the experience better. He knew the menu inside and out and explained everything perfectly. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wynwood and want quality sushi without the overly trendy vibe.

I truly appreciate when servers know their menu well and are able to make suggestions. I can't remember my server's name, but she was just top-notch. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review. The price point of $185 per seating is super worth it. You get a lot of fish and they are very creative with each nigiri. Their spin on it shows their creative side (with Miami flavors) but is not super over the top and sauce does not drown out the freshness of the fish. Something that stood out to me was how they shaved frozen monkfish liver as a topping. I wanna go back just for that!! They also had some pieces where they smoked the fish. Besides the food, I thought it was very creative how they welcomed guests with a welcome drink at the hotel bar. This was so unique! We finished ours early, and had some of their other drinks - they were all very good! Once they're ready, a server came to get us from the hotel bar and led us through an alleyway to a separate building which was where the actual omakase was taking place. The atmosphere was dark and gave off speakeasy vibes, which I thought was different to other omakase places. Bar is spacious enough to still have private conversations. We did the beverage pairing and we really appreciated the sommelier's knowledge. Overall, we would want to come back again for another tasting experience!!
