I remembered an awful procedure 12 years ago and had refused to go back, even though I did not know the doctor and it was not fair to compare him to someone else. The process is hyper-efficient, as Dr. Chesley is very popular. Everyone has a great rapport with the patients. He moves quickly, but he offers to answer questions, the receptionist will answer questions, the nurses will answer questions ... you get the idea. One complaint: I know the room needs to be cold, but it took three blankets to keep me warm while I waited for the procedure. I have notoriously small veins, but two women worked at it for a good while to make it work! I applaud them. I highly recommend Dr. Chesley and his staff.

After the nurse took my vitals and examined my arm we were sent to the waiting room to wait 30 minutes more and never got the shot. After reminding the receptionist we were waiting we were seated in the examination room waiting for an additional 1 hour without being seen by a doctor. My wife asked a nurse about the doctor and slow service the nurse told her " if you don't like the service here you can leave " in an insulting manner . We left and got my tetanus shot at a grocery store pharmacy without having to wait. Other patients with young children with fevers , etc also spent a long time to be seen. Dr. K performed my knee surgery and has been a great ortho doc for follow-up and future options for my other knee (my legs aren't straight (genetics)). His super knowledgable and does not recommend unnecessary tests, surgery, meds, etc. He will even go so far as to recommend physical therapy before advising on injections, surgery, etc. He also asks what you prefer and gives the options/possible outcomes with those options. He listens and gives his professional medical option after he hears what's going on with you. He also performed a rotator cuff surgery on my shoulder. Excellent bedside manners, explains everything, doesn't talk over you and follows up with you.

Like others, I also saw him because he got such great reviews. In all seriousness I don't believe the positive reviews. "He knows what he's doing and he truly cares for his patients." LOL I saw Dr Frank at least a half-dozen times and never, not once, would I describe him as a person who "truly cares for his patients." He seems to have nothing but contempt for his patients! Honestly, he treated me so poorly as a person that it bordered on abusive and I stopped seeing him. He is a terrible doctor.

I had two colonoscopies performed by doctor Frank, the last one six or seven years ago. They were…read moreboth done at the MedStar outpatient offices on 21st street in Washington D.C. The first was done 16 or 17 years ago and everything went smoothly, though I did begin to come out of anesthesia prior to the endoscope being fully withdrawn, which created an uncomfortable feeling. For the second colonoscopy Dr Frank prescribed an off-label prep administration. I was to take the first and final prep dosages within several hours of each other, since I was scheduled for an early morning procedure, even though the prep label indicated the entire dosage should not be consumed in the same day. After the procedure I had atrial flutter and could not be discharged. Instead I was taken by ambulance to GWU hospital where I was treated in the ER for six hours. They were getting ready to admit me there when my heart spontaneously converted (after large doses of various electrolytes that had been depleted from my body by the prep). Because there was permanent damage to my heart I am sentenced to taking blood thinners for the rest of my life to prevent future strokes. Since the prep had been prescribed off-label I was told that mine was a "sentinel" event and the FDA had to be notified. I found out later that my hear rate prior to the colonoscopy was over 120 BPM, and that the procedure should not have been performed for that reason alone. Dr Frank's reckless desire to continue on schedule regardless of the contravening signs negatively changed my life forever. The uneducated public generally rates doctors based on how friendly or organized they are, or their schooling or how timely they are. What other criteria do we have to go on? They NEVER tell you about their failures or flubs because that could affect their business. For the most part, everything these doctors do is just fine, until it isn't. If I had sued this guy, as my wife wanted me to, I probably would have been silenced by an NDA as part of the settlement. But I didn't. So I'm telling you something Doctor Frank would never tell you himself nor would he want you to know.

I was diagnosed originally with Ulcerative Colitis back in 1985 by a different doctor and in 1995 had my colon surgically removed. Dr. Shocket took on my case in 2004 to help me avoid a second surgery and to this day has been successfully helping me manage this terrible disease. The front office staff come and go but he is always there to ensure you get the best treatment. I've been around for many years and have seen my share of doctors, so I am speaking from experience when I say he is the best!!!

He's very accessible (responds to calls, emails etc. promptly), cares about his patients, and frequently scheduled me for appts for the very next day if I was feeling very sick. I saw him for 3 years before an insurance switch forced me to find another doc. He specializes in Inflamatory Bowel Dsiease but treats a wide variety of digestive issues. Not only is he highly regarded in the GI community, he is also a very nice guy.
