They were a bit busy when I arrived, but all went well after being checked in. The technician and Doctor were very nice and respectful and explained everything as the testing, exams and fitting progressed very nicely so you understood what was going on. When purchasing glasses, everything was well explained as well. Just wish I had the names of the technicians to share, but only knew the doctors name. This was mostly out of pocket expenses, but reasonable having used other Eye Care Centers in Delaware. read more

Sussex Eye Center does a thorough job from the moment you arrive. You receive a warm greeting and get checked in. After a brief wait the technician comes out to acknowledge you and escorts you back to several stations where you receive a very professional eye exam. The technician was so friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. Myloan Nguyen performed an extensive examination of my eyes for any and all issues before they get to a point of concern. I found the staff to be warm and friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable. Dr. Myloan Nguyen is a top notch optometrist. I have been going to Sussex Eye Center for nearly my entire time living here. The doctor's have been really caring, nice. and very informative. Recently they dropped my insurance (medicaid). This news was upsetting enough to make cry. Even though I did my best to hold my tears in, it was still very obvious over the phone that I was crying. The admin lady that was on the phone got impatient and just straight up asked if I can pay a few hundred dollars for an appointment for next year. While I'm obviously trying not to cry. That was such a cold-hearted response, even if they took my insurance again, I don't think I could bring myself to return because of her. Be careful of the admin, not all of them have the personality to deal with patients in a compassionate manor. read more

I have been to Sussex Eye Center in Lewes, Long Neck, and most recently their Georgetown office. I cannot say enough about how wonderful their staff and service is. They are super accommodating and wonderful. We switched from another local eye doctor center to Sussex Eye because of not being treated professionally. This past summer, I called Sussex Eye Center on a Friday around 11 and they fit my daughter in that day. Yesterday, my son who wasn't a patient got a piece of metal in his eye and they got him in that morning. They even called me back after the initial call to let me know I needed a referral and how to get one. I would highly recommend Sussex Eye Center! Dr. Nguyen and all the staff at Sussex Eye Center are wonderful. They're personable and efficient without being brusque. They find just the right balance of being friendly and getting the job done quickly to keep appointments on time. Even when I arrive early for appointments, I rarely wait more than a couple of minutes. Once when I was there, the power went out due to a thunderstorm, and the technician, doctor, and receptionist all apologized to me for the appointment taking so long, as if they were at fault for the testing equipment not working without electricity. They value my time. One thing I really appreciate is that every time I have to use one of the testing machines, the technician always reviews the purpose and procedure of the test, in case I don't remember everything since last year. I appreciate that insight into how anxious a patient may feel in a dark room with an intimidating piece of high-tech evaluation equipment. I also like the way the doctor gives me the results immediately instead of sending them to me later when there's no one to explain or answer questions. Another thing I really like is something they don't do. I don't wear glasses, even though glasses might help a little bit in some circumstance (e.g., night driving, which I almost never do). Since I'm not having any problems, no one makes me feel pressured to buy glasses that I'd probably never wear. I feel as though I'm dealing with health professionals, not sales reps working on commission. I don't want to feel like I took the car in for an oil change, and now I'm being coerced into getting a brake job. If Dr. Nguyen ever does tell me that I need glasses, I'll get them feeling confident that it's a medical decision, not an up-sell. Bottom-line, although I live closer to both Salisbury and Seaford, I'll continue to drive to Georgetown to Sussex Eye Center because I trust Dr. Nguyen and the staff with my vision and overall eye health. read more

I actually like this practice but I recently missed an appointment which I realized later in the day and I immediately called to apologize and reset the appointment. Then I got a bill in the mail for $40 for the missed appointment. I called the office to ask for a discount from the $40. I have been a client of theirs for 3+ years and ever missed any appointment. They said since I had signed the waiver there would be no reduction. So I cancelled my appointment of course, I am not saying It is not my fault, I missed the appointment. Im' just saying $40 is pretty steep for a first time offender. read more

I have never had anything but a positive experience starting with my first eye doctor, Dr. Mashauer. I didnt want him to retire, but I am in good hands now with Dr. Spague.
