We've been wanting to check out this store for a while, finally made it, and glad we did. We were surprised at how large the place was when we walked in. They have a nice selection of wood, which is what we were shopping for since my husband is building a bed for our farmhouse. Unlike big box stores, there was no line to check out and service was very personable. We'll definitely be back to shop for some more household items, as they had quite a selection row after row. read more

Have been using this location for the last 3 years but no more. Walked in today to see not one employee wearing a mask even though it is a city ordinance. When asked, most said they didn't want to wear it and were not going to wear it or they kept their distance from people. How did that work out for President Trump? I now will drive 33 miles to Lowes in Kerrville, TX. Yes it will cost me money for fuel and time but at least at Lowes they wear mask and are concerned about their customers. read more

Was shocked to find that none of the employees were wearing masks. NONE! When we inquired as to why, we were told to speak to a manager. The manager said "I'm keep my distance and am not worried." But what about your customers Mr. Manager? We're in the middle of a pandemic and TX is in the top 10 for states with the highest infection rates. This place isn't the greatest but for this town that is still stuck in 1994 it is all you're going to get. It's selection is usually lacking and the prices are high but if you need something in a pinch this is where I'd go first. I hate the Ace and Pro Build here, this fine town's other hardware/lumber stores. Those other places in town have that good ol boy thing going on there. In other words if you're not a local contractor, who's asses they kiss, they treat you like you have a load in your pants and keep away from you. No help at all. This place isn't the best but they've been helpful when I used them. I had trouble paying with a credit card but that's also probably because they're using a system that's from any John Hughes 80s movies. The next town over has the big boxes, Blowes and Home Cheapo which are open late. This place I think is open until 7 which is ok Because in this town if you need an emergency store run after 5 everyone is closed. read more

Went in yesterday and definitely won't be back. The woman at the checkout was so shockingly rude I was actually speechless. I asked a simple question (do you have curtain hardware?) and she literally rolled her eyes, sighed, and counted to three hundred in her head before grumbling "if we did it'd be in aisle 3" without even making eye contact. Seems like I'm not the only one who's had this experience. Hopefully management takes note. read more

Great variety of building materials and accent pieces for decorating. Staff is knowledgeable and they are quick to help load your purchases if needed. Prices are comparable to Lowe's and Home Depot but it is an old school lumberyard that is not the pretty foofoo that the city slickers want. It is the place for real contractors and handymen. I choose to do business with companies that do not force the employees and customers to wear masks. Staff is unfriendly and I knowledgeable..sad that this is the only large hardware store in town.

Fair selection, counter help was good but cashiers were horrible, bought bolts no writing instruments to write with and cashier didn't know the price had to go back to get price then had to wait in line a second time to check out. read more

This place is so sad. Between the unstocked shelves, complete sections without prices and rodent dropping covering the feed/concrete section, you will find a staff who look to go out of their way to not care. When I walk into this place, I know I will be leaving angry and disappointed. read more

Buyer Beware! Sutherland in Fredericksburg sells damaged merchandise. Brand new Husqvarna tiller, $490.00, even have receipt. Tines hit transmission when engaged the first time when started.
