I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I was so excited when we drove by this store. I made my husband make a special trip before we left town so I could check it out. I can't say it's a bad store in any way it was just more of a let down. I'm used to Christmas stores being over the top and packed full of cheer. This place just felt sterile and empty. There was nothing unique and not much to look at inventory wise. It felt like they were trying to be too sophisticated but instead it just sort of took the joy out of what you expect to find in a CHRISTMAS SHOP! We want tinsel and Holly and twinkles, this store doesn't have much but blown glass and a few Santa statues that you wouldn't want your kids to play around. Even those are sparse on the shelves. The Christmas Store was my 3rd stop while visiting Fredericksburg, TX. Don't judge this store's size by its cover. It is so much bigger than it appears to be from the front of the store. I walked from room to room and at one point I felt lost and didn't know my way out LOL. I eventually got back to the front of the store, but it was a long journey around. Tons of neat stuff in every room. I was looking for a mug for my dear friend's birthday... I found it... a mug for cat lovers! It was perfect. Staff was okay. Price was decent. Some rooms in this store look a bit dated. By the way, it's not just a Christmas store... they sell a lot of other non-Christmas stuff, too. It's more like a year-round store IMHO. Such a cute store with lots of gift items in addition to Christmas ornaments and decor! When you go towards the back of the store, it connects to other stores so I started to get confused if I was still in The Christmas Store or not! You can easily get back by turning around but beware because the shopping experience just carries you along as you are looking at all the fun merchandise. read more

Came to Fredericksburg for the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Marketplatz, and to do some shopping around for holiday gifts. This store was at the top of my list to visit again. However I have to say, like everywhere else, inflation is driving prices up. I couldn't hardly find a single ornament sub-$10 that would fit my budget, to say nothing of the pricier decorations like garland, ribbon/bows, wreaths, and decor. I enjoyed looking around (especially at all the miniature village pieces in the back) but ultimately walked out having purchased nothing! Just couldn't afford it. =( Still a good selection of festive items, but I personally don't know when if ever this place will be in my price range again. read more

The store that never ends ! Tons of detailed decorations of all themes. One of the most random stores out there. Thought we had a great experience however was charged more than I was initially told for an item. I called to discuss the price we were told and even sent in a photo of the item etc. The employee who originally helped us said that must be the price. I spoke with Cassandra and she wasn't helpful. She said that wasn't the price. Asked if I was still happy and I told her I lived 2 hours away and I wasn't going to drive back. Very disappointed with how she handled the situation. We have the Department 56 Dicken's Village and decided to start a tradition for our granddaughter with figures from the North Pole series. The guy in that section was great. He knows all there is about the figurines and villages. Even without asking, he opened up the boxes before we purchased them just to make sure they were in good shape . All the employees are nice and very helpful. For those who worry about the virus. All employees were wearing masks and they will tell you to put on your mask if you walk in without one. They also have hand sanitizer for customer use. Just a great and fun store to shop. read more

One of the highlights of the Christmas season for us is to go to Frederickburg and one of those shopping stops we've loved so much is The Christmas Store. Nothing like it was even last year. Lots of CLOTHES - what's that all about? Very few ornaments or really unique decorations. We were in search of something specific that we got in December 2022 in their full room of Christmas villages. That room is totally gone and what they did have was very limited and they didn't have what we were looking for. It used to be that there were a lot of staff there to assist. We had to search out someone and it appeared she just sort of shrugged by our disappointed. I asked if they'd scaled down the store and she said no, it was under new ownership. The new ownership needs to realize they are failing their customers. We will look at the box those decorations came in and see if we can order online. We live an hour and a half from Fredericksburg - the woman said they'd be getting more in so we could always come back. We told her we lived in Round Rock and her reply was, "Well, that's not that far." REALLY? MORE than disappointed!!! read more

We drove from Fort Hood to visit this shop and buy my favorite Inge Glas ornaments and we were so lucky to meet one of the owners, John. He was simply amazing! So helpful and kind. I'm buying a large quantity of vintage Inge ornaments and he was so kind to give me his 2018 Inge catalog. Such a nice man. We will definitely be back to purchase more Inge for our family tree. Definitely worth the two hour drive to visit this store. We also got to see his custom Radko ornaments and see how the Christopher Radko ornaments are handmade. I'm a loyal Inge customer but it was still interesting. John makes beautiful custom wreathes as well. He's very talented. read more

Visited this shop on 6-8-18. What a lovely shop full of all kinds of Christmas decorations and more! I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, just neat little gifts for my family, after all, they did allow me to escape for a weekend with my best girls. I found just the thing in a basket rounder that held little pocket charms. I chose 4 cross charms and a typewriter charm that said: "P.S. I Love You." Perfect little gifts bursting with love and meaning! I chose not to buy a unicorn car mirror charm at another local shop and regretted it. Unfortunately, that shop was closed on Sundays. One of my sweet friends spotted the car charms and pointed them out. I chose a cross charm for my hubby and a unicorn one for me. Sweet, friendly staff making sure your shopping experience is excellent. BONUS: Cashier checked my ID when I presented my debit/credit card AND referred to me by name during my transaction. Interesting store. More than obvious that it's a Christmas store but I've seen themes for other times of the year in here as well. Deco, cards, ornaments, tabletop displays and the like. They give Garden Ridge a run for their money. Inside is like a maze of displays and somewhere in the back you can find walkways into other businesses. This is a really cute store. Some of the items seem a bit overpriced, but overall the variety is pretty good. If you are looking for a one-stop decorate-your-entire-home place, this isn't it. However, they have a good selection of items to really enhance your decor. What I LOVE though is the Department 56 collection. They have a GREAT selection of Department 56. It is hard to find a store that carries this much! What's more...I went in September, so they had almost all the Halloween Department 56 offerings available and also on display! WOOO!!!! I love this place! I'm a Christmas village collector, and this is definitely the perfect place to get pieces. It's a huge store, open year round, and they have all sorts of Christmas things. I'm going to focus on the Department 56 Christmas village collection as I know that area best. They always have perfect village set ups that display the different villages that they have such as Dickens village, which is there biggest set up. Although everything is pricey, that isn't at all the store but just department 56 prices. The service is always great, and the people working there are so kind! They'll give you a yearly catalog of the Christmas village pieces and are super helpful. The only not great experience that I had here was during COVID. I went into the store and everyone was wonderful as usual but unfortunately they had barely any village pieces, and their ship containing them was stuck at the port in Long Beach CA due to some technical difficulties. This wasn't the stores fault and I doubt it would ever happen again. read more

I've always been a sucker for good down home hospitality. Great concept and everything Christmas, but what stood out for me and my fiance was John (maybe the owner). I didn't even have anything to purchase in my hand and he took us aside and took 20 minutes of his busy day to go down and tell us about every good thing we needed to do in Fredericksburg. We hadn't found anything we needed, but you have to support people like this so we ended up purchasing a few ornaments. Just to have faith in humanity I would recommend you making a stop in this store, to remember how people are supposed to treat each other. read more

As an avid dept. 56 collector I was happy to find this place. Good selection of the villages and Halloween pieces. The lady that helped me with these items was great. However, I may never go back. I went to the radko ornament section and saw a red barn ornament I was going to purchase. The young heavy set girl with glasses that was working that section was so over the top paranoid, not only did I leave without a 50 plus dollar ornament, I left furious! I still purchased 150.00 worth of dept 56 but only because that sales lady was wonderful. Bottom line, you really had to be there to get the full effect. But when I took the ornament off the display rack so I may purchase it, I showed it to my fiance. As I held it up (again, to show him what else I was BUYING ) This girl looked as though I was dangling a baby off a rooftop! She exclaimed "that's the weakest part of the ornament!!! Don't hold it by the bale!!! I told her that was what you hung it on the tree by....and every one of them they had on the display racks we're hung by the bale... These were not lying in a cushioned box, they were HANGING... BY THE BALE! She then said "my boss makes me say that" but again, the look of over reaction on her face was incredible. I hung the ornament back, exactly as it had been. She literally RUSHED OVER TO FRANTICALLY INSPECT IT! Wow....I'd hate to see her in an emergency, not of the ornament kind....and I'd hate to spend fifty bucks on an ornament you evidently can't hang by the bale! I'm pretty sure her boss did not tell her to treat mature individuals as if they are 4 years old and in turn lose customers for him. As is, she singlehandedly lost him at least 1 50 dollar sale. Alone, probably no big deal. But how many others leave because of her lack of sales skills. I will do my Christmas decor shopping elsewhere. It's supposed to be fun, not insulting. Oh, I also told the lady at the cash register I was not happy with this salesgirl, she could not have cared less. Nice inventory, poor,poor POOR choice in 2 of the sales associates. read more

From the outside, I was expecting more. We first walked by when the store was closed and I was really excited to go inside when they were open the next day. I guess since I have been to Bronner's in Michigan, no other Christmas stores will ever come close. I was hoping to find a cute ornament that said Fredericksburg, but I didn't like any they had and I felt they were overpriced. The room in the back with the Radko ornaments is nice, but I cannot afford spending $70 on an ornament, which I know is normal for Radko and do not hold that against the store. I think the store would be better if it was purely Christmas items and they had trees up and really went with the theme. And if they had cuter ornaments and more variety that weren't so overpriced. read more

Love this store! I got a new Christmas tree skirt here and some really cute glass cupcake ornaments! I went in around Christmas time and it was very over whelming looking at the beautiful trees and all the random ornaments. They also have a huge collectors section of nicnacs(Sp?). They are a little pricey but it is expected. The prices are around what you would really spend on high end collectibles. I want to go home with so many cute items! Best store in Fredericksburg. Plan on spending a long time in this 10,000 foot store filled with beautiful European Blown Glass, Department 56 villages, Nativity Sets, Clothing, Books , Garden department...this store has it all. We were in San Antonio for a D56 gathering and made a day trip to The Christmas Store to see the villages. We were greeted by both John and his brother who made us feel welcome and at home. Of course our friends and we bought some Radko and Department 56 village pieces. John posed for a picture with the Radko ornament that he had designed. Definitely worth the trip. read more

I love this store ! John and his brother (Tom, I think) were very welcoming and the true epitome of customer service. The store was crazy busy (12/20/14), however both of these gentlemen took the time to explain various collections. If they greet all customers in this manner, success is assured....
