Things to know: - the parking garage opens at 530AM so if you're earlier than that, just hang tight! Tickets are validated at the front desk with a bar code you scan at the exit (there's also an attendant there to assist if you can't reach). - the office opens at 545AM sharp. - the lobby is clean with lots of natural light, comfortable seating, and fresh coffee and tea. Water dispenser for cold and hot water. - staff are wonderfully friendly, attentive, and available for questions. - there's a large TV in the lobby so you can track you person's progress in real time. - the pre-op was smooth and friendly, professional and confidence building (surgery is scary!). All the nurses and the anesthesiologist were upbeat, patient with questions, and explained all things to expect. The surgeon, who you know is busy, never once made us feel like he was rushed and patiently answered our questions about the procedure and after care expectations. - post-op was extremely thorough, and there was special attention to ensuring we understood everything expected. - if you have time to spend, there's a Mel's Diner and iHop nearby... also a nice airy sports bar that opens at 11am just around the corner. Sutter's Fort is also just 1 block over and might be open! All in all, a very positive experience and mom is healing like a champ! Big thanks to all at the Fort Sutter Surgery!

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my recent experiences with Sutter Health and the…read moreway my surgeries have been handled. Two weeks ago, I wrote a review about receiving incorrect information from a pre-op nurse over the phone. Based on that information, I took a medication the morning of my scheduled surgery. As a result, the surgery center canceled my procedure just minutes before they were about to place an IV in my hand. I had to reschedule the surgery for a later date. At the same time, I already had a second surgery--a spinal procedure--scheduled for a Thursday. As I was leaving my home to go to the surgery center, I received a call informing me that the anesthesiologist would not perform the surgery at the center and that it needed to be done in a hospital in case complications occurred. Once again, I was left with no choice but to reschedule. I tried to roll with the punches and moved the first surgery to an earlier date. I was expecting to finally have that surgery next Tuesday. Then, once again, I received a call from a pre-op nurse informing me that the anesthesiologist now wanted additional testing, including an echocardiogram, before proceeding. Of course, I need a referral from my primary care physician, and getting an appointment and completing the test before the scheduled surgery date is practically impossible. So, once again, my surgery is being delayed. My spinal surgery is scheduled for next month, but at this point, I have very little confidence that it will actually happen as scheduled--even though it will now be performed in a hospital. What is most frustrating is that these surgeries were presented to the surgery center well in advance. It is extremely difficult to understand why the anesthesia team is apparently reviewing cases so late in the process, sometimes only shortly before the scheduled procedure. If additional testing or a hospital setting is required, why isn't that determined weeks in advance? Patients should not have to rearrange their lives, prepare for surgery, fast, make transportation arrangements, deal with the stress and anxiety of surgery, and then find out at the last minute that the procedure cannot go forward. Surgery is stressful enough without repeatedly being given conflicting information and having procedures canceled or delayed at the last minute. I understand that patient safety must come first, and I absolutely support appropriate medical precautions. However, better communication, earlier case review, and better coordination between the surgical team, anesthesiologists, pre-op nurses, and patients should be basic expectations. I have been with Sutter Health for years, and most of my medical records and history are already within their system. Unfortunately, these experiences over the past several months have seriously damaged my confidence in the organization. The University of California system is offering Sutter Health as one of the options during upcoming open enrollment. Based on my recent experiences, it is very unlikely that I will choose Sutter, and I certainly cannot recommend the plan to my colleagues. At this point, I am seriously considering requesting copies of all my medical records before the end of the year and moving my care elsewhere. Perhaps my new health plan will provide the level of communication, coordination, and patient care that I expected from Sutter but have not experienced over the past few months. Patients deserve better than last-minute surprises when it comes to something as important and stressful as surgery.

It looks a bit sad and the smell came across as moldy - especially once we entered into the center. There were a ton of folks in the waiting room which caught me and my husband off guard. It came across as a low income medical/dental urgent care facility. Despite all of this initial review I truly believe I received very good care. Kaiser Permanente apparently has a relationship with this facility for surgeries that don't require a hospital stay. Although I would have rather been in a traditional hospital I truly felt that staff exceeded care, were professional and strive to make your experience positive. I appreciate that which is why I've given 5 stars.

My expectations initially were low due to hearing other individuals shared experiences. Majority of the nurses are fantastic with the exception of a few who just didn't appear to like their job ( they shall remain nameless). My physician was top notch and very proactive regarding my delivery. The food wasn't too bad and security measures seem to be as expected anywhere else. The cleanliness of the facility at least in the maternity ward was a 7.5/10. The doula program afforded to patients is a phenomenal component of the hospital and is very much needed. Out processing wasn't too much of a hassle and seemed pretty standard based on various experiences. The issue is with the billing department and what one could consider a) either a lack of competency or b) potential fraud. I have been back and forth for months now even after insurance verification of coverage ( multiple times). Trying to provide the proper documentation for a birth that occurred at their hospital to them the ( billing department) of the same exact hospital. Kind of ludicrous, if you really think about it. Exactly why is it my fault that internal communication is lacking or non existent. Had I known billing would we be a complete nightmare I probably would have opted to deliver at UC Davis or elsewhere.

Shoutout to RN Hang & RN Vivienne for their genuine honesty, letting me know that my request for lidocaine made their jobs difficult (even though an L&D nurse i had seen before first introduced this option to me-- RN Raquel had given me lidocaine before trying to stick an IV in my arm earlier that week, & had strongly encouraged me to request lidocaine in the future if I found lidocaine to be helpful in easing my discomfort.) Here are some of my *favorite* quotes from the incredibly lovely, ever so emphathetic nurses who were supposed to help me during my unplanned c-section to deliver my breech baby: "Which hurts more, me looking for a vein, or your contractions?" (RN Hang) ~i was 3cm dilated at this point. "Lidocaine may make you feel better, but it makes my job harder." (RN Vivienne) "I didn't mean to make you feel like you're not being heard, Im sorry you feel that way."(RN Vivienne) ~Instead of apologizing for her behavior towards me, it's obviously my fault for being so sensitive. "If you want lidocaine, you could request a nurse who does lidocaine, but that isn't me." (RN Hang; RN Vivienne) ~is there not a hospital policy concerning nurses' administration of lidocaine? The inconsistency among nurses is remarkable! Like a box of chocolates! ~And I *did* ask for a nurse who could administer lidocaine, but they sent these amazing nurses instead. ~And since i didn't want to be difficult during the urgency of prepping me for an unplanned c-section to deliver my breech baby when i was already 3cm dilated, when RN Hang said she could leave (my emergency pre-op) to find a nurse who administers lidocaine, i said that wasnt necessary since i just wanted to get this pre-op process over with so that i wouldnt have to risk delivering my breech baby vaginally, which no OB there was trained to do, so a c section delivery was my only option. ~ after my c-section and starting breastfeeding my first newborn baby, the IV that RN Hang stuck in the corner of my left wrist, fell off. ~ though i asked for lidocaine again prior to haivng another nurse give me another IV, the only nurse who was available at that time was a nurse who did not administer lidocaine either-- RN Vivienne. Since she failed to find a proper vein after sticking a needle in my arms multiple times, resulting in a few lovely bruises on both arms, she left. (See photos for bruises.) ~ Four (4) hours later, an "IV therapy" nurse comes into my room, without lidocaine, but with an ultrasound. Thankfully he found a vein, but i still never got lidocaine (even though i requested a nurse who could do this, multiple times.) "If you don't like how I am working, you can fire me! It's okay; I don't mind. *laughs* (RN Vivienne) ~ she said this right before she left. "You wont need this IV for long anyway, you're not a c-section.... Oh wait, you are?! I never had a c-section so I keep forgetting. *laughs* (RN Vivienne) *** But hey, Im obviously just a difficult, entitled patient whose pain tolerance is obviously super weak, so what do I know? Im not a nurse, just a pathetic, entitled, whiney patient. It's not their fault I was there for an unscheduled c-section (for my breech baby which no one there knew how to deliver vaginally), and since RN Vivienne never had a c-section, it totally makes sense that she would have no idea how i was feeling. (it's soo presumptuous & entitled of me to assume that these two RNs cared enough about me to listen to me without judgment. *** Sarcasm aside, im giving this hospital at least two stars-- one solid star for the incredible c-section team led by OB Burkhalter, MD, who successfully performed my c-section & delivered my first baby without any complications + another solid star for the postpartum nurses (RN Jamie, RN Chloe, and RN Annalynn) who showed me true empathy & kindness, & listened to me without judgment, making me feel like a human being, instead of a spoiled brat/ diva.

Sacramento rehab sent my dad to an ER to sit for 24 hours as an out so they didn't have to care for…read morehim anymore. Because of infections that happened during my dad's stay they sent him away so they wouldn't have to be responsible for him. This facility doesn't want to care for or help patients that may require extra support and more tailored therapies. The nursing staff acts in a way that is unbecoming of the nursing profession. They have laughed at, made fun of, and rolled their eyes when asked for help with my dad. I came in multiple times to find my dad sitting in his own filth in tears that nobody would help him. Sitting in wheelchairs that were too short so his legs were jammed into his chest, left there unable to move in excruciating pain. Having nurses laugh at patients, drag their feet to offer hands on care, and leaving patients filthy and unable to move directly violates ethics standards set out by the Nursing Practice Act. Professional conduct should uphold patients dignity and show compassion not demean people who have gone through life changing health issues. The therapist for the most part are kind and caring. Though there are a few who have no business working with people in this type of environment (I'm looking at you Jeff). The rehabilitation aspect is the only thing I trust this facility with which is why my dad had a family member there nearly 24:7. My sister stayed over night three nights a week. The one star is for them and nobody else! Case managers are not communicative and unavailable the majority of the time. Perhaps other people have better reviews and experiences because they are not seeing the type of care their loved ones are getting. all I can tell you is be present and do not trust that these people are properly caring for those you love. If your loved one had a stroke and can't speak clearly, walk, or take care of themselves do not leave them alone here. A shiny new facility is a great distraction for the patient neglect that is happening when you aren't looking.

I have never encountered such kindness, care, and attention as we did at SRH. From the moment he was admitted, the entire team made us feel supported and seen. Donna, the case manager, was a gift from heaven--she guided us through every step with so much compassion and clarity. Dr. Yabes and the other doctors were incredible--professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Maria and all the nurses were beyond amazing--so gentle, patient, and dedicated. They treated my dad like family, and that meant everything during such a difficult time. Rick, the pharmacist, was also wonderful--thorough, caring, and great at explaining everything we needed to know. The Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists were the absolute best--encouraging, skillful, and deeply invested in helping my dad regain strength and independence. My dad stayed for about two weeks, and from beginning to end, our experience was outstanding. If you are considering this facility for your loved one, know that they will be in the best hands. This new location, is also a brand new building over in the Arden/Cal expo area. It's literally right down the street from costco, and wedge between a state department building and other medical buildings. The Urgent Care moved from their old location on Alhambra, along with some other Sutter clinics into the brand new building. Urgent Care can be rather tricky. It's pretty much walk-in and sit and wait. Timing is everything. The seating area is oddly shaped, but plenty of spacious. The patient rooms are kind of cool. They have those sliding barn doors, and the rooms are bigger than they were at the old location. I was pretty much in and out in under an hour, which is pretty amazing! Dr. David was great; he had a great bedside manner, and took care of me and my head cold perfectly. There's plenty of free parking, which wasn't available at the old location. They've only been open for six months, and it really is a lovely facility
