I broke my wrist almost a year ago & was refered by my surgeon, Monica Coughlan at Palo Alto Medical Foundation. I had three plates implanted & three subsiquent surgeries to remove each at different times. Sally Mayson, my pt was wonderful; she is very patient & explains things to you & answers any questions. We had fun each visit over a little small talk & she always made sure everything was going well. Parihan, the ot, was equally nice, showing me different ways to of doing things while my wrist healed. Patrick, the home health aid, was wonderful; coming a couple times a week to help me shower; he is very thorough & another wonderful person. I was discharged this past Monday from program alltogether & wholeheartedly thank everyone for heolping me get to full recovery. Keep up the good work guys. read more

My surgeon ordered home nursing post-lumbar fusion surgery & a four-night hospital stay. First time for this type of care; I scarcely understood the rationale or what to expect. (We'd had hospice support for a parent many years ago, but under very different circumstances.) I've had five visits in the two weeks since I've been home; I am VERY impressed and grateful. Beyond checking and re-dressing a large incision, the nurses have meticulously monitored my pain levels, meds and basic health indicators. They've been patient, kind and communicative. This review is solely for the Occupational Therapist, Perihan. My father is currently with the care of Sutter Care at Home. I do feel that families need to be warned, and to avoid her as your OT at all costs. Just so it's explicitly clear, here are only the facts listed out, no bias. I'll leave it to you to determine whether or not you'd entrust her with the care of your loved one: 1. At intake, I had communicated to the team that my number or my husband's number should be the only numbers they contact to schedule and manage/communicate care plans. Everyone has seemed to have been able to follow this direction aside from Perihan who continued to call my dad for over a week causing confusion. 2. The first day she called to follow up on scheduling and care plan was May 20th, 11 days after his discharge. You read right. 11 days to share her care plan and cadence of visits. This was after not returning any follow ups I had sent requesting a call back, or the team had sent via email/messaging (two nurses confirmed they had sent her follow ups). 3. After her initial visit, I needed to follow up with her regarding a visit she had scheduled with my father that week. I let his nurse know (since Perihan hadn't called back) that he would be unable to accommodate this visit because he often stays with us over the weekend. Not only did Perihan not call me back after several requests earlier in the week, she just didn't show up, didn't call to reschedule that week, even though he has an order for OT twice a week. 4. After Perihan finally called me back, I had requested she schedule a week out. She scheduled for today at 10am. At 12pm my husband notified me that no one showed up. I called the circulating desk and the person I talked to said that Perihan had actually declined the visit. No phone call to me letting me know, nothing. I asked that the case manager call, and she did promptly call me to address my concerns (thank you!). So now my dad has missed two OT visits since discharge due to her neglect. 5. Before the case manager called me, Perihan returned my call and made the following comments verbatim: A. That the house was "filthy and dusty" (bear in mind it's under construction in preparation for our move so impossible to keep the dust out right now) B. That she "cleaned his filthy shoes" C. That "it's unfortunate we can't hire a cleaning service to clean" for my independent father everyday D. That I know my dad and "his favorite word is no" My husband and I have extensive experience with home health with my mom, and have never had this type of behavior occur with OT. Our past experiences have been outstanding, very hands on, family centric. Encouraging. This is what any patient needs in order to aid in a successful recovery. I felt the need to share this in hopes that this doesn't happen to anyone else. And especially that the above inappropriate comments aren't made to anyone else who is simply doing their best to care for their aging loved ones. read more

The worst hospice I've experienced so far as a caregiver. I have never been on hold for so long on the phone ever. My client was doing real bad and yet I was on hold for almost an hour! Other local hospices I've worked with I have never been on hold! And even when they come over for a client, the service is so mediocre compared to the other local hospices like Mission Hospice! read more

Our team and I, at Grace Healthcare Services in NJ, had the immense pleasure of caring for one of Sutter Care at Home patients. The goal was to get the patient to her family In Essex county from California, in order for her to spend her last days at home. And while there were a lot of moving pieces, I have to say that Jo-Hannes and her team went above and beyond to ensure their dear patient had everything that she needed. During the last couple hours of my dad's life, we did not know what to do. It was at night and we called and called and begged for someone to be sent over asap. Nurse didn't come until about 2 hours after he took his last breath and left before the morgue took him away. Overall care was decent at best (day nurse didn't seem to really know much aside from general care) but the last day was traumatizing for the family. read more

During the covid pandemic of 2020, our family had some additional trouble when my grandpa fell and experienced extreme suffering as a result of the fall. I was given Tran Mai's contact and she was super helpful in the entire process! She reached out to me the same day, asked for the contacts of his primary care, contact them and got all the paperwork done within a few hours! Next thing i knew, their team was reaching out to me and we had schedule a time for their physical therapist Matthew Walker to come visit my grandpa the next day. This helped us to be put as ease due to his age and health conditions. Matt came the next morning for his appointment. Was fully thorough with every single thing- it was amazing. He asked all the small details, took his time to understand my grandpa and what his goals and needs were, and was so patient with everything he worked on with him. He had great communication, texted and called me to check up on my grandpa daily, and was always available for questions. We next had Betty as our nurse who came to analyze his medications. Betty was also very helpful in reaching out to all his different practitioners to confirm on his medications, what he needed, why he took what meds, and helped finalize a list of what was really necessary. She was very helpful in clarifying a lot of things that the medical doctors didn't inform us on. As my grandpa got better, the visits ended but my grandpa completed his home health visit knowing that he was in great hands! He was so grateful for the entire Sutter team for how quickly they were able to help him, all the exercises they taught him to do, and for getting him back on his feet again. Would definitely recommend this team if you or a loved one is in need of home health care! read more

We had a really great experience with their hospice care. Judy showed amazing attention to detail when caring for my grandmother. I really couldn't be more grateful. Rebecca also was impressively thorough and attentive. I usually feel like I have to advocate for family members who are no longer in a position to advocate for themselves, but those ladies we so on top of it, I just had to sit back and assist. We also had a lovely and helpful visit from another nice nurse (his name was something like Arlin (I probably got that wrong). The one time I called their office the woman who answered wasn't particularly nice or helpful, but Judy, Rebecca and (I think) Arlin gave absolutely SOLID five-star care. read more

If your home health care visits are going to include physical therapy and occupational therapy Sutter Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice is an excellent choice. The basic nursing care I received was just fine, but the PT and OT was even better. Both my physical therapist, Sunesh Bandi, and occupational therapist, Carlo Manglicmot, OT, were highly professional. Sunesh tailored exercises to challenge but not stress my disabilities, and I saw consistent improvement. He suggested realistic types and amounts of home exercise. Carlo went beyond basic help to help me put together a tub transfer bench then take it apart and box it up to return to Amazon when it wouldn't fit. He then helped with a useful alternative approach. read more

Sutter VNA & Hospice provides flu clinics at your workplace.. very convenient! We've used it two years in a row, and I don't think we're going to change vendors anytime soon. The corporate rate was $22/flu shot this year, instead of $21.50 last year, but it's a lot better than other companies that I have researched online. (VSA had $150 fee tacked onto the cost).. um yeah.. not going to happen.. I emailed Sutter VNA and scheduled a flu clinic visit with no hassle. The scheduling coordinator was blunt, but responsive, nonetheless. Our nurse, Kim C., was really nice. She arrived early to set up, and took the time to explain everything to those who hadn't taken a flu shot before. She even stayed an extra 40 minutes to finish up the people on the wait list. Kim rocks!! and she gave me an extra clipboard to use... and I still have it ... :( woops. The hospice team from Sutter Care At Home was absoutely wonderful! Andrea, Melrose, Diana, Viktor, and the others did a fantastic job of supporting us during my mom's last 3 months (at home). They communicated and coordinated with us every step of the way, providing medications and supplies as needed in a timely and efficient manner. They listened and cared. They kept my mom clean and dry and let us know when we needed to bring in additional help. I can't thank them enough. read more

Very dissatisfied. Felt that the no real care coordination. Friend with progressive disorder. PT stopped since he wouldn't progress--no help as to prevent contractors or do range of motion. OT did one visit and ask question and gave a book for handicap items. Social worker did nothing but literally give a list of resources-no assistance in calling or making referrals. Not supportive for the needs of the pt or the caregiver who need to provide the care. Very hands off. Even when you talk to managers and reach out for help--"home care is limited." I have used other homelier agencies in the past and never had problems like this. If I am given a choice I would not use Sutter Home Care. Very dissatisfied. read more

Worked at many places before, but never worked at a place where the main goal is to provide the best care for patients. Management is truly dedicated to having patients satisfied and that is rare to see in home health or hospice. Truly lucky to go to work here on a daily basis. read more

ok I had a total knee replacement at again Campus surgery ctr in D.C. on dec. 29.I rcvd a call from sutter at home nursing. Within a few days a nurse had come by to check my blood levels as I was given a blood thinner.She (chris) was very nice and thorough.That was good that they were available as the test determined I needed additional dosages.Another nurse came out again to recheck so I had 2 visits. After the nurses first came out I was then contacted by Allison Harris I believe,who is a physical therapist.She is young and very professional and although I only needed her one time I highly recommend this service if its available through your insurance. My experience with them was very good and unlike most patients they see I was told I was younger than most who happened to need this service so dont wait to utilize the services out there if ever you may be in need. They also offer 24hour phone help to a nurse and there was a night that I needed it and they were very informative read more

The OT experience was horrendous. The first OT during her evaluation spent about 15 minutes behind CLOSED doors chatting with the facility administrator, and did not appear to do anything during the evaluation, but watch me and a friend with our loved one. Then the OT did not inform us of any appointment times (until the discharge appointment, which was originally planned for a time when family was not available). The OT, from the scraps of information gathered from the facility administrator and Sutter managers, DID NOT address family/patient goals at all. We subsequently were given a different OT who again kept the family out of the loop and planned visits for times when family (FAMILY TRAINING WAS A GOAL) had told the OT that they were not available. A subsequent call to Sutter indicated that the DPOA was no longer the primary contact! Someone had put the main number of the facility in its place. I would agree with other reviews that Sutter keeps the family out of the loop. I would add that even with best efforts, including communication with the Sutter supervisors, one cannot even be at the visits to stay in the loop. The Sutter OTs appear to have intentionally scheduled 5/7 visits for times when they explicitly were told that the family was not available. The second Sutter OT was also remarkably rude and untruthful. It felt like what I imagine working with the mob would feel like, with my mother's Medicare dollars as their prize. read more
