The scheduler told me I would get 2 physical therapy appointments. I never even got one. I think that was because she told me one therapist would be coming at 1pm & she told this therapist he could come any time after lunch. I had an appointment at 2pm that day so that wasn't going to work. After that no one signed up. I went back to Health Link. 2 wasted weeks.

If you are reading my review, I am so sorry you are having to look for a hospice. It is a…read moredifficult process to make the decision and then find a hospice company. It is important to find a good hospice that will actually take care of your loved one. I was referred to this hospice provider by a woman, Josie, who has a few homes that pretty much caters to the elderly in need of more specialized care. She said it is the only hospice she would recommend. I needed to move my father from the hospital to a place where he could get the care he needed, but still be more like a home environment. My dad's primary care doctor recommended we talk to Josie. She didn't have any openings at the time but then referred my family to a place that did have an opening. My family decided that my dad would never have wanted to live the way he was having to live. He was bed ridden and didn't know who we were. He had many health issues and we knew he would not survive his next visit to the hospital. We decided to put him on hospice and followed his health directive. Helping Hands was amazing from the start to the end. Unfortunately, my father passed within 3 months of being on Hospice. But in that time, he was ordered all the equipment he needed. He had a nurse visiting him 3xweek and he had a hospice caregiver providing him massages and baths 3xweek. He had his round the clock caregivers where he lived as well. Unfortunately, the COVID shutdowns came only days after we admitted him into his new facility. So we couldn't check up on him everyday like we use to do. He would get frustrated trying to talk to us through a window. He didn't understand how to use the phone. It just upset him so much we decided visiting was more disruptive than helpful. The hospice nurse would check in with me every visit and let me know how he was doing. The Chaplin and Social Worker would also visit him, play his favorite music and just talk with him. They also would call me to give me a report. The day the hospice nurse called me to tell me that my father was passing, we were able to get my mother in to say good bye. I did see him after he passed and I cried at how well taken care of he looked. His hair was cut/combed, his face shaven and his nails done. He had been fine in the morning and started having issue at lunch time and the hospice nurse immediately called. The hospice nurse called me fairly quickly after arriving. They would not have had time to do all this before we got there. Made me feel so happy that he was well taken care of during the COVID lockdown. Some hospice providers will not order oxygen or provide medication for things like bladder infections. This hospice does. I just find it cruel that just because someone is on hospice doesn't mean they can't get antibiotics for painful infections like that. Also struggling to breath without oxygen just seems a cruel way to let someone go. If you are looking for a hospice company for your loved one, I can't recommend Helping Hands Hospice enough.

Beyond checking and re-dressing a large incision, the nurses have meticulously monitored my pain levels, meds and basic health indicators. They've been patient, kind and communicative. The peace of mind this has afforded my wife and me is incalculable. Huge shout-out to my care providers!
