This is specific to the security and nurses I've had the delight of meeting. I frequently visit this hospital as my mother's caregiver and every time, the employees have treated us with grace, kindness and thoughtfulness. Both the lady and male security guards went out of their way to locate my grandma's cane we had left a month prior. The nurses (Kaitlyn in med surge) and Carmie (CNA) at her most recent hospitalization were thorough with both managing her care, but also sharing her discharge information. I really appreciated the encouraging words from them as well. I can't speak on much of the doctors themselves, but my grandma's alive and doing well so I'd say that's been good. My only complaints are: the small ED lobby that feels like a bubble of germs with the circle of seats to cough onto each other. The lack of communication with wait times in between information given once you're in a room in the ED... and bedside with some ER doctors. But that's par the course for most hospitals. read more

I saw Dr Arthur yesterday, my regular doctor, and not only did she fill out my forms needed, wrote me an accommodation letter & follow up with me after my urgent care visit; she also was able to remove the recently noticed earring back stuck in my skin in my ear. The skin had grown over it and even though I got the earring out, the back wouldn't budge and it hurt. In times before, I'd remember that some doctors would turn my newly found concerns away and tell me I had to make another appointment. Dr Arthur did it all. She's amazing and overall Sutter has been a great place to have my medical care. Thank you again! read more

This is the worse ER dept I've ever been to. They have no regard to the health of toddlers. I took my son who was having breathing issues and I told them his lips turned blue & they said to wait in the waiting room until his time was up. I asked how long and they said they weren't sure. It was as if him not being able to breathe wasn't urgent, and knowing he was wheezing and in distress. Each time I try this hospital, I'm reminded why I tell myself to not go. I went in with a severe asthma attack. I've had asthma since I've been 6 so I know when all the at home stuff isn't working and it's time to go to ER I went about 4-5 am with my husband who drove me. The nurse who took my vitals was nice and told me she was ordering me a chest x-ray and to have a seat . Then a elderly man started screaming for help at the top of his lungs. They let him just scream for a little bit then finally a bunch of security just piled around them, looked at him and talks to amongst themselves, and all walked away about a couple minutes later, I would say about 10-15 minutes later the nurse took my vitals, called them by his last name said his wife had called and she would be there shortly and they took him to the back at this point. I'm barely breathing. I'm breathing with my stomach and my back is beyond tight from not being able to breathe another gentleman who was before me was called which is understandable, but I was having breathing issues by the time that I finally get called to the back, they sent me to a room then they said whoops. Nope sorry the wrong room and sent me to another room that was literally next-door. They said a doctor would be with me shortly and left me alone at this point they were starting to do a shift change, and the nurses were gossiping to each other about the people that were there at this point you could hear an elderly lady yelling for help then the nurse who was gossiping with the other nurse that she was shift changing with was talking about a patient loudly enough that I could hear from my room that she felt it was odd that some lady was there and the police had never been called for the situation that she went there for my guess is that they were asking for pain pills, even if they were don't talk about it loud enough for other people can hear it finally that nurse leaves and the nurse that did help me who is a sweetheart, was there at the counter talking to the dr. The doctor came in and seen me. I had to tell him about my asthma and the severity of my asthma and then I needed a breathing treatment and prednisone. Let me state this for people that don't know what prednisone is it is nothing of a narcotic. It is a steroid and it helps my lungs. Stay open so I can breathe. The doctor ordered me only two prednisone when I needed it for and a breathing treatment they said it would be there shortly over 30 minutes go by and I am still in that room. I've been in the room now for over an hour. I had to hit that for help button that the nurse came in and said that he would get my breathing treatment and medication and buy medication. I'm meaning the prednisone I had to wait even longer it wasn't until The patient in billing person came in that I signed off for the treatment that I finally was helped. I could barely breathe at this point that when I did get my breathing treatment, it only helped a little even the nurse said that my lungs sounded so tight that he was going to request another breathing treatment and went to speak with the doctor. They gave me a second breathing treatment that I did not feel and I told the nurse I didn't feel much better. They turned around and discharged me. At least the doctor had listened to me on how I needed to be on my prednisone and I needed to taper down so we will get that one point we will give the nurse that helped me another point we will give the nurse that was kind to me that took my vitals one point but to the nurse who thought it was more important to talk shit about patients than to help us shame on you and you should look for a change in your career. I bet the DMV is hiring I will just take my chances at home versus going back to this hospital ever again. Shame on this hospital. A lot of you need retraining and a lot of you need to pick a new career. read more

I've been to their ER twice, once in August and once in December (I'm currently here now, waiting to be discharged). The nurses and their assistants, physicians, administration, and cleaning staff were amazing both times. The first time, I only had to be in the ER for 3 hours while being treated with several IVs and medications. The second time, they worked hard over the holiday season to save my life, even with limited staff. This time I was sent to the third floor for treatment after being in the ER for a few hours. Although many patients needed critical care and at times my ultrasound was pushed back, it was because the doctors were responding to ICU and ER patients (I was already stable and was still seen that day). I think that some of these reviews are harsh and don't understand that these people are strategically working hard to save lives. This is the only ER team I trust, the nurses on the third floor are angels, and the physicians are amazing and precise. I would like to add that the nurses are highly responsive--even if a nurse is not assigned to you, they will accommodate your needs if your nurse is not around or busy. Additionally, they have nice facilities including clean bathrooms, rooms, shower rooms, and the cafeteria is clean as well. Although I previously had Kaiser coverage and used to go to their ER, it took significantly longer to be treated and seen (I once woke up in the Kaiser ER with bloody knees on the patient bed and I had been there for HOURS alone). Every time I come here, I've been seen within the first hour and treated within the next. Hopefully, I don't need to go to the ER again, but this is where I would go. read more

Went to the ER for a bad headache and continuous nausea that was happening for almost a week. They only gave me medicine for the headache and nausea and sent me home. The next day it got worst so I went to Sutter Cpmc Van Ness campus in San Francisco and right away they did bloodwork and did a CT scan. The CT scan revealed a Brain Tumor. I was suppose to go in surgery right away. The doctor couldn't operate because the Dr at Sutter Vallejo gave me/ prescribed me medication for the headache. Honestly this place is a joke. Whenever I came in the ER I would have to wait 2-4 hrs just to be seen and sent home after. read more

My younger brother was admitted for enterocolitis and sepsis pneumonia. He got horrible patient care and had no compassion for my brother who has functioning schizophrenia. They gave his psych meds 5 hours late after being transferred to the floor. My brother has complex schizoaffective disorder. If he is not taking his psych meds diligently he is at risk for severe relapse. When I picked him up at discharge the rude RN had no compassion. She spoke to him in a rude tone by asking "You don't need a wheelchair right?!" I was appalled to hear her say that and she didn't even address him by his name?! The unit secretary was so unprofessional and disrespectful. She asked me verbatim "Do you need something?" The hospital staff need to be retrained patient quality care and have more compassion towards the family and the patients. I don't know if they treat all their patients or only Medicare/Medical patients like this but next time we are going to NorthBay, Vaca Valley hospital or the VA. Basically anywhere but here. Beware this hospital is so unsanitary and needs a lot of remodeling. I don't think this hospital should even have any stars but I have to at least give one star so I can yelp them. read more

This place has to be some of the worst care by what should be professionals. The nurses and nurses assistants here left my 78 year old mother to lay in her own fecal matter for hours ignoring her phone calls and button to the nurses desk. When they would finally make it to her room they were very rude and rough with her and instead of asking what she needed they would tell her what she would and would not get as far as treatment goes. Depite already having doctor approvals for medication, every time she would tell them she needed a certain medication they would avoid giving it to her by saying they needed to calm the doctor first even with as I mentioned before having already gotten approval. Would never want to be in this emergency room or hospital at any point in time. Very low care quality and super unfriendly staff. You go to the hospital with stroke like symptoms day 1, and eleven days later 200k+ bill, 50 + tests, a fall, unsanitary conditions, 1 hoe bath in an 11 day stay, laying in diaper full of urine for hrs, nurses gossiping, ridiculing, not giving you your regularly prescribed meds, not being informed of your medical treatment plan, subjected to EEG while impaired cognitively in a state of mania. 11 days later I had to flee hospital in my hospital rob, and barefoot, because you find out their about to find a way to continue to fatten their pockets by bringing in a psyche to declare you Coocoo. Worst experience of my life!!! I had an inflamed epiglottis and was nearly choking while being driven there and the doctors just asked if I did any drugs and put me in a hospital bed all night. One nurse can't understand what a negative Covid test means. Another nurse doesn't know how to transfer correctly. And another nurse says that there is no transfer that exists. All I want to know is if I could take Keflex for a viral infection of bronchitis before pneumonia. I cannot get an appointment because I am not in the charts of this hospital. I do not have the strength to sit in a emergency room by myself for six hours. But you know what these nurses have in common? They are all women that don't understand they can't answer my questions or help in anyway if they tried. Very frustrating. In addition: I am terrified of crowded spaces and loud noises and will have to forgo medical help. I'll have a meltdown, start crying and getting agitated and then run out in fear. People like me die all the time. Who cares? Not these practicers. I gave birth to my son here in 1996, and I cannot believe how much it has gone downhill. It's very dirty and it seems 90%of the staff is either overwhelmed or just simply does not care. It took me talking to 3 nurses to find one with any empathy for my 63 year old father in law. It's very sad. I gave birth here. they kept sending me away and refused to give me a bed. Saying I wasn't dilated enough. I was in labor for 12 hours, sent home multiple times. The nurse told me I was 2cm dilated when I came in the last time (the baby's had was sticking out). I gave birth within 20 minutes of my arrival. 2cm? Really? I'm convinced that's why he's mentally disabled. when they finally put me on the monitor they realized the contractions were dropping his heart rate. My doctor said "you need to get him out now!" I pushed him out in 2 pushes. I'm glad they shut down the labor unit. This experience left me traumatized. read more

I got to the address that the Doctor Lanflisi gave me in Uber , for them to tell me that my surgery what's scheduled in Vallejo not Fairfield got another Uber n when to Vallejo where the nurse Celine poke me 5 different times n never put the IV what's rude n always mad after all that poking n lad test n 6 hrs later , without food n water Dr Rober Lanflisi came in with a mean face n without any explanation told me that he couldn't do the surgery n walk away , the nurses were shock n try to talk to him , he felt me in tears, pain n super hungry NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL !!! n of course they don't care of the patients feeling. So I go to urgent care because I do not go to hospitals due to cost, the urgent care tells me I need to go get tested for COVID, ok....... I go to Sutter emergency and tell them what I was told and they bring me in and put me in a room. An hour later the nurse comes by and I tell her what's going on. She says "I don't know why they would send you, we won't test for COVID" so at that point I asked to leave. At this point a doctor rushes over to tell me they can't test, so I leave. I then get a letter saying I owe $1400 after my insurance paid $2200. I inform them nothing was done and they couldn't test for COVID now Sutter is saying saying nothing was written down about COVID so I am billed as a walk in wellness visit. Unethical, and highway robbery, I avoid the VA due to not wanting to clog up the system because there are VETS who need to get in there for real help but at this point looks like that's where I'll be going. *********UPDATE************* So I get a phone call at 4:54p and miss the call and have called back 3 times with no answer but also you can't leave a voicemail. I also get a letter saying my appeal is denied because they did not note why I came in other then shortness of breathe......the first thing I told the nurse is the other facility you are associated with told me to get a COVID test due to this symptom. It is clearly a dishonest practice as they did not "see" me until I asked to leave but they also left out that I asked for a COVID test which they denied. Sad that during a pandemic the medical field continues to find ways to burn the public to line their pockets. Regardless I have appealed with my insurance company and if they go based off of the inaccurate record from the hospital I will pay and simply know Sutter is a unscrupulous business that does not care about patients. Nurse at check in was rude and seemed like she didn't wanna even be there. Her and another nurse were not wearing gloves but texting on their phones and touching everything else even patients, which is disgusting to me. Now for the icing on the cake, the doctor gave me what I needed but didn't explain anything, he hardly talked at all and wasn't very friendly. Didn't even explain the medications he was giving me. When I was able to leave, the same rude nurse only said "you're good to go."She knew this was my first time being here so she could've at least show me how to get outta there. Our mother was admitted to the ER for a second time in a week, and then to the ICU. It was clear her body was failing her, and we had no expectation of miracles being worked by Sutter. The bedside manner of the ER nurse, the Palliative Care nurse, and the ICU attending were all great -- at first. After she passed, the same ICU attending physician took nearly THREE WEEKS to sign off on the death certificate, and still signed in the wrong place. This delays all the other things we need to do as surviving family members, resulted in her body being kept in a refrigerated space in the crematory for that same amount of time, and as we tried to address the issue, Sutter staff were frequently rude, obfuscatory, and dismissive. This is negligence and bureaucratic cruelty on a shocking level. The doctor has a fairly long history of reprimands and malpractice claims on his record. If you have a choice of insurers and care providers, I can only implore you to look elsewhere. Sutter has not reached out to apologize nor to let us know that any action is being taken. We are contacting State Boards about this. read more

I came to the hospital er this morning cause I have sickle cell disease and I come here when I try everything at home. I get put in rm 4 and at first it seemed like the doctor was going to see if he could help manage my pain and if it didn't help we would go from there. After a bag of fluids and a few doses of medication I'm told by the nurse I'm all ready to go and when I told the nurse that I was still in a lot of pain could I speak with the doctor. And the doctor never came back to talk to me and didn't even contact my hematologist and that he didn't have to and that I had to get out of the bed cause they needed the room when it was empty back there. Then I get the hematologist on call and she let's me now that she can't interfere but I know that's not true cause in the past when certain doctors didn't want to admit me for pain management, my mom would call and they would speak with the hospitalist and they would admit me. It's like the quality of care has went down and there is no compassion for those who suffer in pain like me were just accused of lying about our pain to get pain medicine, they just don't care anymore and they see me struggling in pain, but they don't want to be bothered even though they took a oath to protect and help those who are suffering . I'm just tired of Sutter Solano Medical Center what's the point of coming here cause they don't help you. read more

A man vomited on the floor and it was swept up with a broom. Never sprayed down. That broom was then used to sweep everywhere else. Before that even happened, it sat there for at leastt 15 minutes. I left Sonoma Valley hospital for care here last year. They were amazing. Since, it has become a horrific scene. I am sickened at how sexually harassed I felt by a male nurse name Oliver, as I walked past him sitting in a chair after asking where the bathroom is he leaned over as to look at my behind, and acted completely clueless when I called him out. During my wait a woman came in upset stating how she saw a man in nothing but a robe, mind you it's close to 8 pm at this point, she said he had no clothes and was crying at the bus stop not knowing when or how he would get home. She gave him some money and then came in stating he mentioned he is hearing voices telling him to kill himself in tears. A few minutes later I was called back... while in my room (that had bloody gauze on the floor when I came in and garbage) I overheard a group of medical staff saying "it is not her business and she needs to mind her own" they also said something about the man and all proceeded to make jokes about him. I am beyond sickened by this hospital and it's current staff. I sure hope something is done and soon. I was horrified during my wait at the way the people were being treated!
