Before I could even finish explaining that I'd be out of town from the 17th to the 26th, this person cut me off, gave me zero information, acted like my questions were an inconvenience, and then hung up on me. Not a misunderstanding. Not a dropped call. They hung up mid-sentence. That's the level of disregard this company has for paying customers. I immediately contacted my home warranty provider and told them to cancel the already-approved claim and open a brand-new one with a different contractor. Yes, I knowingly took on another $100 service fee just to make sure Northwoods Mechanical never comes near my home again. That's how bad this experience was. The young man who came out was nice enough, but somehow Select Home Warrantee rejected the claim. It appears that Select operates in a way to basically find reasons not to pay. Northwoods Mechanical on the next day sent me a quote of $1458.36 to replace the thermostat. A ridiculous price. The Better Business Bureau rates this company a D+. I cancelled my arrangement with Select. Beware of home warrantee companies. (This is consistent with what a representative from Northwood Mechanical told me over the phone.) If I believed in conspiracies, my experience would be the poster child for such.
