I've been using FH&C for a number of years, including today for a non-working home A/C unit, and I wasn't disappointed once again. The technician quickly found a bad A/C capacitor and didn't try to push anything I didn't need. He was very professional, friendly, and got everything up and running in short order. Family replaced my furnace back in December and they did a good job at a fair price. However, when my AC went out last week it was difficult to even get a tech out to my house for the initial inspection. 2 other companies sent out a tech either same day or the very next day but family said it would be a 3 day wait. Once the tech did finally come out (Kyle was a really good tech) it was again very hard to schedule a follow up for the sales person to come out to go over pricing. After telling family that I have other companies coming out much faster than they are, The sales guy they sent (Kevin) was not helpful/nice and didn't seem to care if we went with Family or not. Didn't take the time to discuss the warranty, financing options, and other general questions that anyone might have in the situation. He was over for about 5 minutes which was basically pointless and couldn't even give me an installation date he just told me to "call the office". The other companies I had come out really took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns about the new AC unit and made sure I understood what they were offering before they had left. They both called their schedulers while they were at my house to see when the earliest date for install I could get was. As someone who had just spent a good chunk of money with Family just 5 months ago it was disappointing to see as I would have used family again if they had just been a little more helpful and actually acted like they wanted my business. Kyle the Tech and Tasha front desk were nice and helpful, but Kevin the sales guy pretty much killed any chance of me using Family again. Side note: the other companies, and the company I ended up going with will waive the $100 fee that all companies charge when a tech comes out the first time for inspection. if you end up using them to get an AC, furnace etc replaced they will refund you the full amount. Family does not offer this and only gives you half back. Not a huge deal but seems pretty cheap and tacky when you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a new system. read more

One of the worst experiences customer service wise. I have ever had parts supervisor was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I purchased an inducer motor new for my furnace. $2400 dollars later in other parts and labor, I found out the original part I bought from them was not working properly and was defective. They refused to give me my money back on the defective part they were selling. When I asked to speak to someone higher than him the supervisor just said no and hung up on me leaving me out of $400 for a defective part. read more

My furnace was not working. I spoke with Kevin and he told me to check a few items, which was great. No luck. Called back and the very nice lady was able to get David A. to come out. Turned out to be the blower motor. He was able to locate the part, picked it up and installed. I have heat. As they also installed the furnace and ac, he gave it a good check up and insured working properly. I have also had them install a electric panel and some wiring. They may have limited hours but, they are worth the wait. Great service, products, and people. Family heating and cooling is a company that sticks by their word and gives you fair rates and good work

I typically don't leave reviews unless there is an occasion where there are significant and notable items to share for the sake of other customers. I had a straightforward leak develop from a water heater's pressure release overflow. I researched part costs for valve and steps for DIY, then decided to get estimate for fix and confirmation of issue. One local company in Commerce came out and confirmed it most likely was the pressure release valve, which cost me about $150 for the diagnosis. Next came the quote to fix....over $900 to replace a straightforward emergency pressure release valve...shocking considering the part was about $40. Not seeing that is reasonable price, my next call was to Family in White Lake and they came out promptly after providing an estimate over the phone for about $180! This was about the price range I figured. Matai came out went thru ensuring what the issue was and promptly put the new pressure release valve on and did some follow up tests. He provided clearly the warranty on parts and service. I must say there was no mess, parts fit, and best of all no leak....job well done! It was well worth getting another estimate and having Matai at Family Heating perform the work. read more

He was very rude and argumentative on the phone and he wouldn't correct the overcharge. I told him he was losing a steady customer and he didn't care. I have used this company many times. They have been very honest and always do a great job! They could have easily taken advantage of my lack of knowledge in these areas, like car repair mechanics always do, and raised the prices. I never give great reviews, but they deserve it! read more

Purchased a new Amana furnace for our summer home. First time turning it on, it gave us an error code that it had a bad circuit board. Contacted Family who told us we would have to pay $179 to get a new circuit board. Said they did not warrant any over the counter sales, it was company policy. We were not told that when we bought the furnace nor was it stated on the invoice. So now we have a non-working furnace up north (200 miles away) with winter coming, unless we pay them more money for a faulty piece of equipment. Suggest you find a reputable company that stands behind their products. read more

Our AC went Memorial Day, we contacted two competitors who didn't even bother to show for their appointment times. My husband called Family Heating and Cooling and set up an appointment for next Wednesday, one week away . About an hour later he received a call saying that they had a cancellation, would we like service today? OH BOY YES!! Two technicians arrived, took 5 minutes to determine what was wrong, 15 minutes to fix it! And the price was the BEST part, we were expecting in the $1,000 range, not where near that! I called on 9/11/17, to have another electrical outlet installed in a bathroom, as I purchased a bidet/toilet, and the existing outlet is too far away. The lady that answered the phone didn't seem to grasp at first what I wanted, as she kept coughing loudly in my ear. Later that day, a technician called me back, and told me that he was booked solid the next day, but he would see what he could do. I haven't heard from anyone since, and it is now three days later. Their website boasts of a fleet of 150 trucks, but apparently this technician is the only one in my area, even though they have branch about 5 miles away, where one can see multiple company vehicles. Sadly, they don't seem to have a system in place, other than their technicians' memory, to follow up on possible jobs. I'm not one to chase people who don't want to work for me, so I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

I have to start by saying I have never written a review for any business. My first impression was good with this company based on the person answering the phone. She was polite and pleasant. The man that gave me the quote was also professional, polite and I felt trustworthy. When the the installer arrived they were on time. There we're two young men and an older man with them. The older man did not stay long. Everything was fine they installed the furnace and cleaned up after themselves. The problem arose a couple days later when I noticed the gutters on the side of my house where they climbed on my roof were damaged. I called the company and was transferred to the older man that was here on installation day. He without seeing the gutters said he doubted that they caused the damage. He came to my house a few days later and looked at the gutters and gave me several reasons why it wasn't there fault. He then said they would not have even gone up on that side of the house. I told him I watched them through the windows they put the ladder in two spots on that side of the house. I watched the one guy go up and the other one carry materials to him across the deck to that side of the house. He just shook his head. I could see there was no point in going any further and he left. Now I have to hire a gutter company to do the repairs. I would have more respect for this company had they just made an excuse as to why it wasn't their fault rather than question my honesty and integrity. My stomach is on knots writing this I am so offended and angry. My advise if you hire this company is to take pictures so you have proof of where the installers went in and around your house. If you don't and you have some damage they will deny it and imply you are a liar. read more

My furnace stopped working yesterday, (Sunday), I called Family Heating in White Lake as soon as they opened this morning. The gentleman told me someone would call me within 1 to 1-1/2 hours to give me a 2-hour window on when someone would be out. He called back within 1/2 hour and gave me a window of noon-2 pm. At 10:50 am Deanna (?) called me and said that the person coming out to my house finished the job before me early and asked if it was ok that he come now. They arrived at my house within 20 minutes and had my furnace running before noon. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was very polite and helpful. The 2 gentlemen that came to the house and repaired my furnace were polite, they explained what was wrong and what they were going to do to fix it, they even wore booties over their shoes! I would recommend them to anyone and will definitely call on them again in the future. Thank you. read more
