I cancelled my arrangement with Select. Beware of home warrantee companies. (This is consistent with what a representative from Northwood Mechanical told me over the phone.) The first one went into the attic and took a good look around before giving us an estimate. The second one didn't even go into the attic but based his estimate by measuring square footage in the basement. The third one was Stoney from BlownInsulationMI.com who, like the first one, went up into the attic to check it out. When he finished, based on what he saw, he explained that he felt our insulation had settled but was still adequate (when built in 2009, we paid for extra insulation above the minimum requirements). He said he would be happy to sell us some insulation, but the amount they would recommend would not affect our heating-and-cooling bills enough to make it worth the investment. We appreciated his honesty and that he took the time to explain his assessment and how he came to that conclusion. He was very knowledgeable and has decades of experience to back what he says.
