Our waitress was great, our meal slipped off the big tray as they were bringing it through the crowd, nobody's fault, nobody injured or got food on them. She apologized profusely. Staff had it cleaned up and gone in minutes. We were worried we'd have to wait a while for new food but within 10 minutes we had piping hot replacements. 12/20/20 I came here with my date for dinner after church, as we both haven't been to this restaurant in a while, and wanted to try something different. Upon entering, you must wear a mask as the staff is wearing theirs, and once seated you can take it off. I'll never understand this method but they're complying with the covid rules. There's no dividers but they do space you out far from any other tables. I ordered the mussels appetizer as my main dish, and my date had their French onion soup. The food was good, but not enough for me to come running back. I've spoiled my taste buds and had better quality mussels elsewhere. Also, my date didn't enjoy the French onion soup, was disappointed in the bland taste. Overall, the experience was good, our waitress took great care of us and we took care of her. Unfortunately, we were told the bar was open until 11pm but it actually closed @10 pm with the entire restaurant. I have been going to Sutton's to eat for years... probably close to when it first opened in Lexington. It is my Cheers! I have tried almost everything on the menu but I never thought about eating a steak there. My boyfriend and I chose Sutton's for our NYE dinner and he said he was getting a ribeye. I was hesitant, not because of anything other than it's not a steak house. Well last night I was proven wrong! The ribeye was large, cooked and seasoned extremely well! And to add to this excellent service, the cook came out to get our thoughts. Well I can say I will never go to any other place for a steak in Lexington EVER again! Sutton's is special because you often see the owner there and he is never hesitant to check in with his customers. We opted to belly up to the bar and watch football. You may opt for the dining room but I feel the bar area is very intimate. I've always received excellent service at Sutton's...the food is always great. There is a private room which holds about 20. This is the perfect option for a party and at a lower cost than you find other places in town. We have actually decided to hold our small wedding in this room. So EVERYTHING can't be positive right? Well the only negative I have is that the bread pudding needs more bourbon sauce. What can I say...I'm a Kentucky girl! read more

My first experience at Sutton's was certainly one for the books. Upon our arrival, freshly baked bread and a delectable olive oil embodied with delicious herbs and spices was brought to our table for five. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable of the menu selection and was able to make some wonderful recommendations. One guest with my party ordered the Pepperoni Pups as an appetizer and all we could say was WOW. Everything that is fried at this restaurant is hand breaded. NOTHING FROZEN or PRE-MADE. I ordered something new on the menu as my entrée, the Sonora Chicken Pasta. This dish was a penne pasta tossed in southwest queso sauce with blackened chicken, black beans, diced tomato, and scallions. I was intrigued by the idea of this unique combination and I must say it did NOT disappoint. The owner, Gordon Lewis was absolutely over the top incredible. He checked on our table several times, made connections with each individual, and sought to ensure we were pleased with each individual cocktail, appetizer, entrée, and dessert! He even gifted our party a FREE dessert! Nothing but mouth-watering, pure goodness for the entire party! It's rare one goes out for dinner with a group of friends embodying such different tastes and walks away with a 5 star review from all. Sutton's is a long-time favorite. As a Danville native, I remember when they briefly had a second location in the old Western Sizzlin' but Lexington has withstood the test of time. Why haven't I written a review yet?! Probably because when I'm there the atmosphere is all-consuming; the last thing I'm thinking about is taking pictures and making mental notes. That said, my last experience was awesome, as usual. I opted for the Pasta Trio - something I'd never tried before - and it was enough food for two people easily. My boyfriend had the Pasta Giovanni and added Italian Sausage; he loved it, minus the pool of oil it was swimming in. The Wine Down Wednesday is to die for (1/2 price bottles and discounted apps) and all the staff are superb. Definitely one of my favorite Italian spots in town! read more

Service: 2 Server did not have hair tired back and kept using her hands to.push it out of her way; entrees were handed across the table ; we were never offered cracked pepper, fresh Parmesan cheese; when asked if they had red pepper flakes the server stated ' I'm not sure'. (Blasphemous, since it's just a chain, I know) The biggest complaint was the seafood platter, for $30 you get a small portion of white fish (which while advertised as Norwegian salmon, I question the accuracy of this based on taste and texture), three small scallops and four shrimp (my guess is size 40-50). Nothing was terrible, but I don't think I'll be back, there are too many other places to try. Chicago is famous for several foods, including Italian Beef. Ever since we moved to Kentucky, my husband consistently misses Italian Beef. Sure, we always grabbed some every time we went back to visit Chicago, but it would be nice to find some much closer. After talking to a few people and doing a search online, he found Sutton's. Apparently Sutton's had Italian Beef -- maybe not exactly what Chicago has, but the closest we may be able to find. One afternoon, we finally found ourselves at Sutton's for lunch. Sutton's has a small bar on one side of the building, and a dining area on the other. I wasn't quite sure if this place was supposed to be casual or slightly upscale. It was kind of a mix of both. So. Lunch. Italian Beef was available in two options: with a sausage in the beef sandwich, and without. My husband eagerly ordered a Chicago Beef sandwich, sans sausage (off the main menu). I wasn't that hungry, so I ordered a 1/2 oven-fired flatbread with a Caesar salad on the side (off the lunch menu). We also ordered bruschetta. Service was... OK. Despite being one of three or four tables dining that day, it took forever for the waitress to get our order, forever for her to fill our waters, and forever for the food to arrive. And once the food arrived --my salad and flatbread AND bruschetta also arrived at the same time---, both of our orders were slightly incorrect. There was sausage in my husband's Italian beef and my Caesar salad was missing the dressing and the cheese..... how does one even miss that!? Sigh. My husband went ahead and ate the sausage in his sandwich, and once my salad was fixed, I ate my meal, too. The salad was OK. The flatbread was OK. The bruschetta was OK. The whole meal was OK. It wasn't terrible, but I wasn't impressed. My husband, however, did love his Italian Beef. Was it exactly like Chicago? Nope. But it is the closest we will probably find in Lexington. Most of the other reviews for this place are better than mine. Maybe I just had a random, blah experience, or different expectations. Went here for the first time and loved it! Got baked mushrooms for an appetizer, and they were sizzling when they arrived and very delicious! The meal came with a bread and olive oil appetizer; the bread was soft and warm and the olive oil had herbs in it. I ordered the broccoli chicken pasta and my husband ordered chicken Gorgonzola. We both loved our food. Sauce was creamy, noodles cooked well, good flavor, etc. Staff was also nice and checked in on us often. Definitely want to return here again. read more

Paid $14 bucks for 8 medium shrimp and literally 20 fries. Calamari was ok but soggy. Used doordash and they were very quick, less than a half hour from order to delivery. Not a good experience and really disappointed in the food portions and state. This is the same comment I left on google... owner responded " We are sad to see your review. We never want Our guests to less than overjoyed with our food. Our goal is to exceed your expectations. Our fried shrimp is $13 (on our website). We use 26-30 shrimp served with 2 side items. Breaded food will become soggy with steam generated from the heat of food in a to-go box within 5 minutes. We do not recommend fried food for delivery or take-out. At our website, you won't pay higher prices like at other online websites such as doordash. Our driver's take your food straight to you. Our fried shrimp is the best in town and we will put it up against all others." And? He definitely was wrong on the shrimp amount... what about the tiny portion of fries? I still agree with my 3.5 star review. I like this restaurant and go about once a year. This is an awesome place to go during restaurant week. They have a two can dine for the set price and you get to split an appetizer and each person gets an entree and dessert. I went last year with family and we all thoroughly enjoyed that meal. Today my husband and I went for lunch after church. The restaurant was very quiet. I think that Sutton's should either have a lunch menu or institute a restaurant week type deal year round for lunch. First let me start off by saying I love this place. I feel like it is a hidden gem off of Richmond road. Every time I eat here I leave thinking that was the best pasta I've ever had. I have tried a few different things but my favorite is the Alfredo with blackened shrimp. My boyfriends favorite is the Fra Diavolo! Both options are fantastic. We love the bread they give you, my only complaint would be that they are stingy on the bread. The price point is a little bit higher than other places, but it is worth it for the quality! After a paralyzing winter weather lockdown, we were finally able to catch up with a multi-birthday meal for several members of our family, and all we had to go on was that "Mom wants Italian". After doing a cursory search of ratings, menus, and seating availability, we landed on Sutton's; not just for the above-mentioned reasons, but what really sold us was the location, and the fact that we'd never eaten there before. We got there a little early and the place was almost empty, despite the fact that online table reservations had them booked from 4-8 PM. Thankfully we called ahead and they were able to reserve us a table for 6 at 4. When we saw it was near empty, we questioned the host about it and he informed us they had just cleared out after a big lunch rush and would fill up quick, so it looks like we got there just in time. I love good food, but ambience really makes the meal for me, and Sutton's was everything I expect from a pleasurable dining experience. The place was clean, with modest decor, and enjoyable music that was calm, appropriate, and at a volume level where we could hear it clearly but also hear each other at the table. Electronic QR-code food & bar menus were available, easily accessible, but they still offered us disposable paper menus which I appreciated, even if they didn't match the online versions. We started with some drinks and a fried banana pepper appetizer while we waited for my parents to arrive. The banana peppers were in rings, which I personally consider to be 'inauthentic' (preferring whole sliced peppers over rings), but the flavor was exceptional, and it encouraged the kids and others at the table to enjoy them, as nobody else in my family appreciates a good fried banana pepper as much as I do, so I found a new appreciation for the ring-cut version, especially since the flavor was so well balanced and not overly-greasy. Our waitress was exceptional, and noticed that the peppers were served with cocktail sauce, not the horsey sauce as was mentioned on the menu, so she brought us a horseradish/ranch sauce that was terrible, but I was impressed with her attention to detail. Although the drink availability was limited due to the storm (the first two beers I chose were out), I settled on a Cougar Bait, having never drank one before, and was pleasantly surprised. After my parents arrived and we all ordered, I had a shot of Bourbon & another beer and was ready for a delicious meal with the family. Our oldest son ordered a flatbread pizza, and we got baked spaghetti for our youngest son. Both meals were huge, and even my tweenager son who normally inhales his food had to get a to-go box to take home the rest of his pizza. The wife & I ate light, as a lazy Saturday morning meant we had just eaten a late breakfast no more than 4 hours prior, but the bourbon-glazed wings I ordered were spot on, and the wife enjoyed the grilled seafood platter with steamed broccoli and mushrooms on the side. My mom had the fish & chips, and my Dad had a chicken sandwich with French onion soup. Although the soup didn't have the traditional crouton or bread top you typically see with French onion soup, Dad said the flavor was outstanding, and Mom's fish was perfect. The meal came in perfect timing, just when we were all realizing how hungry we were, and everybody at the table had grazed on the banana peppers. Our waitress was efficient and attentive, and kept everybody topped off on drinks without missing a beat. I really appreciated being asked if I wanted a water with my meal, and following up that I was ok with alcohol. I've gone to so many restaurants ready to drink, and left with no more than one or two simply because I was never asked, or asked and they never delivered. Since I was driving and like to have time to eat and socialize afterwards, I had enough with two beers and a bourbon, but it was nice to at least be asked if I wanted more. We left extremely pleased with our experience; from the food, to the spacious, appropriately socially-distanced seating, the ambience (the kids loved the Italian mobster photographs on the wall), the music, and the service. 5-star for sure, and we will definitely consider going back because of the great mix of classic Italian entrees and pub-food offerings. They had Weller, which I would have loved to dip into, but maybe another time. Their bar area looked inviting, so the wife and I will very likely return for a date night. read more

Food was super amazing!!! I had the manzo pasta parmesan!!! It was cooked fresh to order! The steak was so tender and juicy and the spicy cream sauce was flavor-able and super delish!!! My hunni has the bourbon barrel burger and it was cooked to order also!! His burger was so tasty & juicy and the bourbon glaze and mayo combo along with smoked applewood bacon was fantabulous!!! For drinks he had draft bud light and I had the infamous Arnold Palmer!!! Always a fav. Our waitress was awesome!!! She was very attentive and anticipated our needs even before we had to ask!!! Ordered lasagna and eggplant Parmesan online. Went to pickup - should have done curbside. Bar was packed with 12 people around 4 tables. So much for 6 ft. Had to wait a bit for order. Normally food is awesome. However, my lasagna was burned - but not on the bottom side of the lasagna but on the inside the noodle. It was black and not able to cut. How does that happen? Did they burn the noodles then put it together? Did the drop it and then reassemble? Well maybe we will go back after Covid and give them another shot. See ya next year. read more

Suttons was a major disappointment to me. At least it was not very busy. I ordered chicken marsala. It had a butter sauce that if the cook had squeezed a lemon on it, it would have been chicken picatta. There was not a hint of marsala wine,as this would imparted some flavor and a bit of color.
