Lately a disappointment. If you need to schedule an impromptu, urgent appointment (with in a couple of days)...good luck with that. We have tried calling her every day to see if a slot has opened up to no avail and have been instructed to go to an emergency room or urgent care center if it is truly that serious by the medical assistant who answers the phone (!). Also, she works only 3 days a week and one of those days is usually a half day. My old family doctor in Illinois worked 5 days a week, was a mother of a newborn, and a toddler, managed (somehow) to fit an appointment with my elderly father within 24 hours and visit him when he would have to be hospitalized...and if she couldn't do it her partner would cover...who was also an awesome doc, now that I think about it. Needless to say we are looking for a new doctor that can help us when an emergency arises. It has been a rough two weeks and my wife urgently needs some attention. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Fiala's for a few years now and would highly recommend her. With some other doctors I have felt like they are in a hurry to get to the next appointment but Dr. Fiala has never made my appointments feel rushed and seems to really listen to my concerns. When I have needed an appointment at the last minute, it is rare that they can't fit me in withing a day or 2. Also, being a "self-pay" patient, I find her to be very affordable for my general health care. I have had a few issues concerning billing and communication but they have always been addressed promptly and politely. It may be a medical practice but I understand that it is also a business and there will occasionally be employees who are not as polite or possess great customer service skills. A polite letter or email directly to Dr. Fiala citing these concerns has always resulted in a positive response. If you are in the West Seattle area and are looking for a caring doctor in your neighborhood so you can avoid the frustration of I-5 traffic, give Dr. Fiala a call. read more

Dr. Fiala is awesome. I bombarded her with a ton of questions and she listened and answered all of them! We even had a Bio identical hormone plan...by the end of our first visit... and I had a Vitamin D blood draw..something no other Dr. offered.I learned I was really low and went on Vitamin 50,000 units of Vitamin D FOR 6 WEEKS.I consulted with her on Hormone Replacement Therapy and Bio Identical. She shared her own values and personal thoughts with me. I instantly felt comfortable and almost like I had a true friend. I felt she offered me answers I had been reaching out for since the time of my surgery . Dr. Fiala made me feel comfortable even though I learned I have what they refer to as..."white coat syndrome" instant (high blood pressure) when in the office. I was scared at first about the high blood pressure but she assured me and she wasn't concerned given the past history of medical issues it's common...she said. Its hard to write a review about someone so incredibly awesome and not sound like a you have used every word in the thesaurus that means 'awesome'. Nonetheless, here it goes. . . Her office staff is friend and polite. The office is clean and doesn't smell like a hospital. The Doc listens to what you have to say and asks you questions. UGH, I can't do it - SHE'S JUST AWESOME. Dr. Fiala is great. No complaints there, she is very friendly and thorough. But her front office staff and billing dept. are both very unpleasant. Every front office person that I have dealt with (receptionist & helping medical assistants) are unfriendly, they don't seem to have as much knowledge as they should working in the medical field such as procedures, the DR's schedule, insurance, etc. They are horrible and unhelpful when it comes to scheduling...well almost everything I've been in there for. I personally would prefer a friendly front office program, at least, to blend well with Dr. Fiala. Now I know the billing dept is separate but they are ridiculous. I honestly have never been sent to collections in my 25 years of living. And for some reason, they have sent me to collections, twice! And i have great insurance coverage. I looked up to see if this DR was PPO with my plan, and they were. I have had nothing but routine visits, injection, etc. and the billing just decided to not send the claims to my insurance, nor myself. Than a few months later I get a notice from a collections agency. I was livid. Called the billing dept and they simply said, we didn't send it off to your insurance...oops! Sorry. WTH. That is my credit you are "simply" screwing with! I got it all straightened out after explaining to them how a PPO provider works (I have been working in the medical & dental field for over 6 years). NOT cool. I have been considering switching to a new woman DR just because sometimes, it's not worth it, especially after 4-5 visits, I've been sent to collections more than once- for NO reason but their own mistakes. read more

I have been seeing Dr Fiala for over 2 years now. What can I say that hasn't already been said the other reviewers. First of all, I am a man in his mid fifties, not a mother of a small child or a woman, but I can say with all certainty, she if the finest, most caring doctor I have had the pleasure of dealing with in my lifetime. She is the first doctor I have had that asks questions, is genuinely concerned with my health and well-being. She has always been spot on in her diagnosis and her referrals to specialists have been nothing short of top of their group. Dr. Fiala has referred me to some of Seattles finest specialists with the greatest care I have ever received in my adult life. To her, I owe a large amount of gratitude for her kind, compassionate care and understanding. If any man or woman is looking for a doctor, you will not find a better general practitioner and family practice doctor in Seattle. read more

First of all, the front desk/staff are very unprofessional and don't seem to know what they are doing. They are also rude with the exception of Priscilla (the medical assistant) who is a wonderful gal. So many mistakes were made during the period of the months I visited and if you are not a very patient person, (no pun intended), you are going to pull your hair out. Dr Fiala, despite trying, couldn't find the nature of my illness. It's extremely frustrating. Maybe I am an enigma, who knows. The part that upset myself and my wife was when Dr Fiala asked me not to see her again after I wrote her a polite but an informative email about my concern in regards to a few of my complaints. We were totally shocked to hear her say that she didn't want out business any longer. I gotta admit, she seemed like a very caring person at first, then she made a 180 degree turn. Also, this family "share care plan" thing that they came up with, doesn't make much sense. It looks to me like another way to make more money out of the patients. read more

I initially was happy with Dr Fiala and her office when I started going there about 5 years ago. Now, I'm so frustrated with them that I've signed up for yelp just so I can post this review. For the past two years the office organization has been terrible. They will rarely if ever respond to a request from mail order pharmacies for renewing prescriptions; you will have to call the office, probably at least twice to get them to fill it. I got the results of my blood tests last year with a note that I had a condition that would require medication for the rest of my life and that a prescription was enclosed. Well, no prescription was included and, really?? Getting that kind of information in a letter? Two weeks ago, I found out that one of my prescriptions was expiring from Express Scripts (I have no idea why this prescription was only written for six months). Since Dr Fiala's office didn't respond to the pharmacy, I had to call them. Heather in the office informed me that they were starting a new program, Share Care. This is the "Share Care" Dr Fiala refers to in her post on 5/24/13. It will cost you $20 per month, and if you don't sign up, you cannot be her patient. $240 a year!! So, since I told them that I didn't want to pay, especially considering what a struggle it is to get things done through the office, I was advised that I would receive one final prescription and I would have to find another doctor. My medicine has been renewed for 30 days, no longer, and I have to scramble to find another doctor that will take an appointment in time for me to continue the medication, and pay to see that doctor 6 months before I am due for an annual checkup. Maybe it's just me, but this seems incredibly unprofessional to do this to your patient. Oh, and by the way... that last 30 day prescription? They called it into a Rite Aid, instead of the original pharmacy and didn't tell me. It's been waiting there for 5 days while I've run out of medication and while I thought they were getting Dr Fiala's permission. read more

I recently moved to the Seattle area and have been looking for a decent Doctor, and I received a recommendation from a friend who is a nurse to see Dr. Fiala, so I called up and made an appointment for a "meet & greet" for the next time that I had available. I was taking a day off of work 2 weeks out to also have a dental cleaning, so I made the appointment for the same day. I apparently received a call from the office, telling me not only was my appointment scheduled for the wrong time...Dr. Fiala doesn't even do "meet & greets"! I did not get the message (my bad, I don't check my messages very often, if someone needs to get a hold of me, they call back. Right?). I got a conformation call for the appointment the day before...normal, right? So I googled the address for "Dr. Fiala, West Seattle", and, of course the wrong address came up FIRST! So after getting to the wrong clinic 20 minutes early, and realizing I had gotten the wrong address, I gave a quick courtesy call to let them know that the wrong address pops up when you gooogle the name "Dr. Fiala". Mind You, I was not late for my appointment yet, just letting them know I am on my way, and the WRONG address is on google...maybe something you would want to fix. The minute that I got on the phone the receptionist, berated me for not receiving her "detailed message" and told me I had to reschedule for an appointment that I received a conformation call for the day before! I work in the medical field and I know full well that this is no way to treat a client, so I asked to speak to the office manager, same person apparently...who doesn't know that her Doctor doesn't do "meet & greets", yet schedules them anyway! Basically, front office staff VERY unprofessional! Didn't even get to meet the Doc whom you are all gushing about, but in my mind if that is the way you are going to run your front office, then I don't think I want you to be my Doctor! Imagine! A new client, and that is the way you treat them! I can't think what it would be like if I actually had a medical problem! read more

This is the worst doctor I have ever had! She was not knowledgeable about my diagnosis and she refused to coordinate my treatment with the other providers and consults involved. Furthermore, she refused to give me referrals I requested in the course of my treatment that were critical to my care. Her bedside manner is terrible. Her office is dark, in an old building and her waiting area is too small and cramped. I have some concerns for anybody that goes into treatment with her considering what I have been through. read more

Dr. Fiala is not the problem it is her receptionist. She scheduled me for an appointment and then when I show up on time I'm told that I won't be seen because I am 10 minutes late. I am extremely busy as are most people and it is hard to find the time for anything let alone Dr appts. I wrote the time in my planner and confirmed it with the receptionist before I hung up the phone. Instead of apologizing she said she could reschedule as long as I could be on time. Dr. Fiala is a wonderful physician. Not only is she accurate with her diagnoses, she really cares about all her patients & it shows. My family has been going to her for 7+ years. One of the major reasons we chose her as our physician is that she had the medical background, but also has 6 children of her own and so she knows intimately what babies, children and adults go through. She has an enormous heart & we strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a magnificent physician. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Fiala is a very nice person but her practice is lacking. Her staff turns over a lot and I was given vitamin B12 shots that cost $1500.00 all to find out that my insurance company didn't cover them because I didn't have low enough markers of B12. Dr. Fiala made it sound like I was in great need of them, well the insurance company says I wasn't in the "qualifying" recommended need for them. Well I didn't find out about all this until the bill had already been built up. So I HAD to pay the $1500 of which I might ad was not the correct kind of B12 vitamin it was not methylated so my body didn't even absorb or react to it. So I went on a payment plan for this bill in which as of lately (sense the decision to close practice it seems) I all of a sudden got a collection notice on the remaining balance. Had to cough up $500 on the spot to keep it from hitting my credit. The real kicker is that the actual cost for my b12 shots was all of maybe $100 to Dr. Fiala. the vitamin B12 she used costs penny on the dollar. I know this because a friend that works for a naturopath who did the ordering of product was able to tell me the cost of the "good" B12. Long story short HORRIBLE customer service and not clear on what is really needed and what is suggested for better health. read more

I am frustrated and disappointed. I sought out this physician upon moving to West Seattle, based on some of the reviews that I read. I wanted to establish a family physician for myself and two children. In the course of this I went for my initial appointment, all seemed well and she renewed my standing prescriptions. After this I scheduled for my then 13 year old daughter. When she "examined" my daughter there was no "physical" involved. She merely talked with her and sent us out for lab work. This should have been a red flag. In the course of the year we relocated to Bainbridge Island for a new job. I really thought that we would keep this physician as it is not that difficult to get back to Seattle. I have been getting my prescriptions refilled the entire time. At some point the order was confused and I ( and the poor pharmacy) have spent over a month trying to get this remedied! Calls have not been returned, and the faxes from the pharmacy have been denied. I was finally able to have a conversation with a human being today who truly was trying to help, however she let me know that the RX cannot be refilled without me making an appointment. I let her know that I was happy to make an appointment for the annual due in March, but I needed the medication now as it is a daily med. She said she would try, but the doctor may still deny. This to me is insane! I am not asking for a narcotic or anything new. It is a simple low dose medicine that I have been on for several years. I am finding a new doctor who cares about the customer and will take responsibility for mistakes that they make. This should not be so difficult. read more
