Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face.
