I bought an engine for my vehicle with low mileage as they said, but instead of sending a working engine they sent a CORE engine as it did appear broken tips, missing lower intake manifold bolts, water all around the valve on cylinder 4, missing oil cooler screws, missing all 4 knocks sensors, hearing noise at the timing chain area when turning the engine, timing seem to be off engine turn and then stop. I did file the dispute with my credit card company which they refund some and they are keeping almost $2390 for restocking fee. Our company purchased an engine that was advertised and guaranteed by the seller to have 50,000 miles. After several delays, what we ultimately received was a beat-up engine with approximately 200,000 miles, broken parts, and it was shipped from a completely different part of the country than originally stated. This matters because engines from different climates experience different types of wear, corrosion, and environmental exposure. When we first contacted customer service, we were placed on hold for over 30 minutes only to be told they were now closed and unable to assist us. The following day, our salesman cut us off mid-sentence and transferred us to customer service. Unfortunately, that experience was even worse. At that point, we were told that the engine originally promised to us never actually existed and that they would not honor either their advertisement or the guarantee that was made. The engine took 3 weeks to arrive and when it did there were several broken bolt studs to hold the exhaust in place. I called and complained, and was told...."That can not be, the engine goes thru a quality check before it is sent out!" Avoid this business at all costs. I am posting my experience with them here, but you don't even have to take my word for it. Simply google them (and any of the nearly 20 other business names they operate under) and you'll learn all you need to know. I wish I would have done that before sending them my hard-earned money. SWENGINES guaranteed me a used engine with less than 78,000 miles on it (that they state was inspected and pressure tested), for $1796.00. They also boast about having a full warranty (replacement or refund) if the engine is not what they purport it to be. I received an engine that had caked on dirt and oil that was nearly 1/4" thick in some places. But due to the guarantee that the engine had been inspected and tested, I hesitantly paid $1200.00 to have it installed only to find out that it was seized/frozen and would not crank. After jumping through the many intricate hoops that they set in place to file a claim for a refund, and returning the bad engine, they alternated between ignoring me and giving me the runaround. They would promise to call or email me with the date I could expect my refund but never would. Calls would conveniently drop in the middle of trying to resolve the issue and when I called back, the person I had been talking to just 1 minute prior was now out to lunch. After threatening to file complaints with the BBB, the State AG, and the Dept. of Consumer Relations, they deposited $657 back into my account with no call, email, or explanation of any kind. When I tried to find out why they only returned $657, I was told that there was a restocking fee. A 64% restocking fee when they knowingly sent me an engine that was 100% NOT what I paid for? This is fraud, plain and simple. They bank on people either not being able to maneuver their ludicrous warranty/claim process, or they simply stonewall you and return a measly fraction of what they owe, claiming that it's their policy to collect a restocking fee. The fact that they are going to restock this non-working engine proves the point beyond a shadow of a doubt. They obviously intend to turn around and sell this same exact engine to some other unsuspecting consumer and keep the majority (if not all) of their money as well. Lather, rinse, repeat. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and minimal research on-line has revealed literally hundreds of reports virtually identical to mine. If there were just a handful of reports like this, then I would say that maybe it's just an occasional anomaly. However, I don't believe that over 300 complaints to the BBB over the past three years equates to an anomaly. It's a warning. So, buyer beware and run, don't walk away from this business. And if you happen to read this after they have already taken advantage of you, join me in doing everything I can to eliminate their operation by getting the word out to every corner of the internet I can find them mentioned in. I have also reached out to a couple of class action law firms to discuss the viability of opening a class action lawsuit against them. We ordered and paid $2696.00 for an engine for my 2018 Ford Escape 1.5 L. on 03/2025. The order number is 452625. It was received 3 weeks later by the mechanic we hired to install the engine. After the engine was installed, the mechanic said the engine didn't work. That it didn't have enough compression. We paid the mechanic $2500.00 for taking out the old engine and to install the refurbished engine. We paid this amount for nothing because the engine didn't work and now we will need to pay for another engine to be installed. We contacted SW Engines to tell them that the engine they sent didn't work after it was installed. SW asked for some pictures of parts of the vehicle and for a statement from the mechanic, which we sent to them by mail. They said they received the email. Since then, every time we try to call about the warranty, we are on hold for 45 minutes, then they say they will call us back but never do. This has happened at least 4 times. read more

I was told 3 years and only 13000 miles on the Cadillac engine I bought that because I didnt signed up for the warranty within 10 days of receiving the engine I voided the warranty. When I looked for what they buried old line 12 of the warranty they tout as there superior to others. The warranty was a click box on my order quote that I clicked on all it told me was how great the labor and replacement warranty was. So I purchased with the knowledge I paid a little more for their engine because of their warranty. After they delivered the second engine it was missing all kinds of parts that had to be removed and installed from the old engine. The repair shop was shocked that they shipped such a terrible piece of equipment. Requested replacement and after 3.5 weeks they still haven't identified or shipped an engine. Their phone lines are always busy. Their supervisor rarely answers the phone and definitely does not respond to voicemail. And something is going wrong with the companies phone system, whenever they transfer my call to another department it would go to a random outside person who was not affillitated with their business. This company sucks!!! we spent over $4000 on an engine that was trash and only driving it about 700 miles! We have gone through all of the hoops for the claim process(ASE certified mechanic, engine diagnostic report, pics of heat tabs,towed to original mechanic after being told there was metal pieces in the oil and a knocking after engine heated up and hood open so it would not be driven all at our expense) Filed a claim, was told the replacement would be there on the 10th and crap one picked up the 13th(Engine has to be at original drop off place), had our mechanic change his schedule to get this done, only to be told on the 11th that they will pick up the crap engine first (vehicle was still on the lift so now our mechanic is losing money waiting for them to pick up the crap engine and drop off new one or replace chassis to get off lift at our expense) only to then be told no we are not picking it up but sending the replacement, to then be told again no we are picking it up but we want pictures that it is out and ready for pick up..(which was sent) to now nothing and being hung up on by the manager Allen. We have spoken to several representatives, emailed, called and I am still waiting for the replacement of the crap motor they gave us. We are at the point of getting our Attorney involved to get this resolved. We just want a replacement engine for the one they sold us that was clearly not tested before resale.
