A friend told us they had been taking junior tennis classes here and really liked it, so we gave it a try! I called to speak with someone about where to start, and I'm glad I did! The person who helped me on the phone was absolutely fantastic about walking me through how their program worked (age level, skills level, etc.) and the options on days to attend! She even explained that we could try a class for free to see if it was worth signing up for a full session! Sold!! I hate to oversimplify it, but we truly did show up, check in, and joined a class! It was THAT easy! My daughter loved the coaches and class enough that we ended up signing up right after for the next session (two months)! Now we've been there for over 6 months, and my daughter has gotten progressively better and better! She's learned the basics of the game, technique, scoring, etc.! The facility is very nice - many indoor and outdoor courts, a weightroom, locker room, many restrooms for waiting/watching parents! I have a feeling we'll be around this facility for many months and years to come!

I still participate in many activities at OP and still enjoyed playing tennis there but now I know my decision to move was the correct one. I was a guest playing with three other members who offered to split the $12 guest fee to make it more even. When we went to pay, they said they couldn't split the guest fee so suggested that one member pay for it and then we reimburse her so that's what we did. A day later, the other three girls realized they had been charged just the court time, but I had not. Since my credit card was expired, they could not process the charges. I received an email in March for the January court time requesting an updated credit card. When I called, I am now finding out they charged me the entire $12 guest fee. Now I could go back and ask for each girl to pay me $3.00 but I don't want to do that, so I asked if OP would agree to waive this guest fee in this one instance since this was not the way we wanted to be billed. Ann in accounting said it doesn't matter how long I was a member for and that since I was not a member at the time, I owed the $12. I don't disagree with her but was hoping for a little consideration as it is only $12 and I thought my past years of membership might have some influence. I even asked for a credit to be placed on the account for a future court time but no luck. It doesn't seem like everything needs to always black and white and that there could be some leniency or exceptions to make a customer happy or even to want to come back at some time to be a member. That will not be happening with me. No, the extra $9 will not break me. It's just the principle.

The AC isn't good enough to keep up with the building so it can get very warm in the gym. Gym-wise, its one of the worst " Big Company" gyms I've ever been to. There is always equipment broken or in progress of being in repair that takes weeks or months. The gym is rarely cleaned, usually only to pass a weekly inspection from the bosses. The cleaning crew does a subpar job of cleaning of which they only clean what is within arms reach of them as much of the equipment gathers dust. Simple things such as tightening belts on the treadmills or replacing lightbulbs takes months if done at all. The swimming pool/ hot tube does not have a cleaning schedule and seemingly only gets cleaned when there is an accident or a piece of equipment goes down for repair. The Dry Sauna has issues of wood rot and lighting that has never been fixed in years. There are also screws that are not flush with the wood so if you have bare skin touch, you get burned. All of this stuff has been repeatedly brought up to the staff but the problem is that they either don't care or are not in a position to fix these things. The current GM is nothing more than a towel boy.

I also like that they stay open fairly late in the evening. Tonight was only my second time here, but so far I can't give it a "yes" or even a "maybe" recommendation, in part because I haven't yet seen anyone going around cleaning or checking anything. Some stalls in the upstairs women's restroom didn't have toilet paper, and it wasn't exactly clean. When I asked the only employee I saw, a young man at the front desk, if anybody goes around regularly cleaning and/or checking the restrooms or anything else, he said "Yeah, when the janitors come in at night." When I told him there was no toilet paper, he said "Well, the janitors will probably take care of that when they come in." The only supplies I saw for members to clean the equipment were in one central location on the very large second floor, far from almost everything on that level. But I never saw anyone wiping anything down before or after they used it. Hopefully, I can upgrade my rating sometime in the future.

You're better off not signing up and just walking in. 2. Brining guests is a complete hassle and you're charged a non refundable fee of $25 if life changes happen and you don't come with a guest that day. On several occasions I was denied guests even tho it was well before the required 24hour application to request them. On multiple occasions my requests were completely ignored and went unreported to even if they were placed 72hours in advance. I was frequently traveling to KC for work and sports only to be hassled when my wife visited from LA stating that I reached my cap for local guest passes (mind you, she lives in California full time and would visit me about once or twice a month for a weekend) 3. Steam room in women's bathroom is utterly disgusting and wasn't cleaned since I was there over a several month period, how'd I know? The dirt streaks and giant clump of hair that just remained of the floor for over 6months 4. Coming from Los Angeles and the Heimat gym where I pay $350/month, I was excited to try this gym... but this gym is clearly nothing but a wanna-be elite gym. The best part of this place is the flavored water in the women's locker room- And maybe the pools in the summer but good luck finding parking 5. Looking to bring up an issue with the staff and escalate it? Don't worry, they're happy to ignore you. Trust me, you're not gonna miss this place. Only thing it's memorable for is being complicated while trying to use its perks and over complicated. The 2 stars are for the water and the equipment. The cleaning staff is super nice tho!

However, it can get busy there and the hot tub chlorine does sting my eyes a bit. There is also a steam and dry sauna there (both men and women in there). Parking is also difficult to find close by with how many people go there now. The women's locker room was nice, but honestly I expected the showers to be nicer and more modern. We stopped by the cafe on the way out. I tried the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese had apples in it and had good flavor. However, the tomato soup just tasted like thick, sour, tomato paste. It was not creamy like typical tomato soup.

A 66 acre park, everything you can imagine is here. Many different trails, LOTS of open fields, 2 or 3 different play grounds for kids, a water park area with pools and slides, soccer fields and many soccer goals, 2 basketball courts, pickleball, tennis, you name it they probably have it. Extremely well taken care of and felt very safe walking around at dusk even on the trails with just my dog. The dog parks were HUGE, and everything was very clean and NEW. I rode my bike out here on one of the warmest days of the spring and it's always a nice destination. There are tons of trails connecting through it that are best suited for walkers/joggers. Cyclists can ride on them, but they're twisty and full of people, so I'd recommend sticking to the roads more than these on the bike. There are soccer fields, a dog park (with it's own Yelp page), a pool, and it's right in the middle of Leawood and easily accessible off 435. Really glad the city had the foresight to design such a big amenity for Johnson County. If you're a dog owner, there are portions where you can get down to the creek if your doggo needs a quick swim. Granted there are leash laws, but if you have a dog that you can recall well, I say go for it. It's really a nice park overall and perfect for those needing a dosage of sunshine and nature right now.

It's a step up from what the city offers and is a bit more expensive, but less intense than KC Ballet, which was what I was looking for. I like the werx dance fitness class. We joined because we moved a little too far from our old gym, but after being here I wish we would just drive to the old one. My main concern is the childcare. We were used to a gym with friendly childcare workers who engaged with our kids. Here they are not friendly and I peek in to see workers on their phones or just sitting there not engaging. I'm most upset about the video games. I talked to them about my concern but they claim parents are requesting their kid have time on it. I find that SUPER hard to believe. They said they can enforce a time limit for my kid and have some of the time. Today I arrive and my kid is just at the gate hoping I return soon. I have no idea how long that was happening. His sister is 6 months shy from being able to go to the other room Where I am sure they would play together. All the kids in the older area were watching or playing video games and my kid was alone with staff not attempting to engage him. It just makes me sad that my kid is having this experience/ and it makes me not want to come.
