Of the now many Indian restaurants open in the Indian Land area, we prefer Swadeshi as it is closest to our Sun City home, has a good variety of dishes and their fried Gobi (cauliflower), dry version, mild spice level, is my wife's favorite. Our regular appetizer at $13.99. Many servers are not well-versed in making English translations of dishes, so do not be shy to ask for clarification from other employees. Also, spiciness in terms of heat are set as none, mild, medium and hot. On a scale of 5, with 5 being very hot, we go for a 2 or three, mostly sticking on mild. The kitchen can go overboard, so if it is too hot for you, speak up. We usually split a large bottle of Indian lager beer. There are about 6 varieties available. India does make good lager beers at $5 - 8 per bottle. Another appetizer that I have as a main is the most delicious Pitapuram Prawns Vepudu ($17.99), at mild spice level. A super yummy dish of sauteed shrimp, eight medium sized that you have to cut in half to eat, cooked with onions and green bell pepper in a unctuous gravy, as in rich tasting, of severe flavor. I mean severe to be intense, not ucky. The Okra Masala ($13.99) is a stew of okra with onions and spices, which is delicious mixed, as we like it, with white rice, at medium spice level. We eat whatever is left over for lunch the next day. Bullet Naan ($4.99) is covered with bits of chilies, going well with the curries and stew-like dishes. To control the spicy heat and rescue my tongue, I regularly order a Mango Lassi ($3.99). This is a very nice, smooth, tasty with tang yogurt drink. Try one for your table so you all can try it. Water and beer do not "refresh" the spice...milk and yogurt does. The Asian-Indians eat later, beginning at 8pm. As we are leaving, these families a coming in and sit at large tables on your left when you enter. read more

We were hesitant to try this restaurant because the previous Indian restaurant that was in this location wasn't our favorite. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised and it was so so good! We tried a chicken app, korma, the parotta and garlic naan. The breads were a stand out for sure, and you could tell they were homemade. It was the best garlic naan I have ever tasted. The Monagaado chicken was presented nicely and had a lot of flavor. The korma wasn't my favorite but still very good. I prefer my korma a little creamier. But, there are a lot of creamy dishes on the menu, so we will definitely be back to try more. Don't miss out on trying their breads! read more

I always thought biryani came in like... three types. But apparently, South Indians, especially Hyderabadis have unlocked the secret biryani multiverse. So many, they are probably, more or less, the same. If you're confused, just go for the standard dum biryani. The food? Pretty good. Tandoori items are solid. My paratha showed up so late and rock-hard, nearly inedible. Be sure to inform the staff you would like your bread to arrive simultaneously with the entree. Solid place overall, in a part of town that is lacking in quality ethnic food. You will like it, especially if you have a biryani fetish. read more

Had lunch from their special lunch menu . Attentive service, and comfortable atmosphere. I had chicken korma and my dining mate had chicken tikka masala. With this we got a samosa appetizer, naan, rice and gulabjamun for dessert. Chai tea a small cup was extra at $2.99 a cup. I asked for mild korma but it still was to spicey for me. The samosa also spicey for my taste but not for my dining mate.Everthing was basically good even though some chicken pieces in my korma were a bit tough and not as tender as one would expect. This was my 3rd visit but not nearly as good as other 2 times. Not sure if kitchen staff changed or new owners but my guests were not impressed. Server said dishes being made based on chatGPT and I thought it was a joke but apparently not. Too much clove used in a couple dishes. My vindaloo was different than previous visit tho heat level was perfect. And it took way too long to get to-go containers and the bill. Not sure I'll come back but if I do, it will be alone so as not to disappoint guests in the future. read more

I miss the previous restaurant food (Indian Fushion) - it was far more delicious. While food was okay, it wasn't as good when compared to buffet food this restaurant had to offer with prior ownership. Chicken appetizer was suggested by the staff and it tasted good. Tandoori roti was okay. Hyderabady chicken curry was good. However pulao (white pulao suggested by the staff) was a total disaster - it had fried chicken pieces!! While the food from Swadeshi Adda is good, the wait time when placing and picking up to go orders is abysmal. The two times we have placed pick-up orders from here, the order wasn't close to being done by the given time. Good food doesn't excuse bad service, especially when both times the orders were placed on non busy days. Today was a day to give them another chance and it was their last shot. This is one of Charlotte's newest Indian restaurants and it's a MUST visit spot. The food was fantastic and ranks head and shoulders above the fare you get at typical Indian restaurants in town. The naan was superb. Their Malabar Parotta (layered bread) was outstanding (apparently it's made in-house - which is a rarity for that dish given how hard it is to get it right). The paneer tikka was awesome and the curry lead cauliflower was finger licking good. The mango lassi was spectacular .. fresh, creamy and thick. Not the watered down stuff you get at some other places. Kalyan was super attentive and friendly. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed. They are a new restaurant and give them some grace on the waiting time side of things. All in all, a fantastic add to Charlotte's culinary scene. read more

Group of six adults Sunday 9/1. Now there was a party inside due to storms. So it was crowded and busy. No problem, we were happy to sit and talk. Owner came out a few times to apologize for the wait. Extremely nice. The food was well worth the wait. We all ordered chicken Tikka masala. Different levels of spice. Garlic naan bread. My family and I absolutely loved the food. We had Pomfret Fish Fry, Loose Chili Prawns, Dhaba Style Chicken with Bullet Naans, and Mutton Fry Biryani. A little disappointed. I loved Indian Fusion. Tried Swadeshi Adda, was hoping that the food would be the same and the rebrand would just mean small changes. It is a completely different restaurant although the space changed very minimally. The chicken vindaloo and butter chicken that we ordered were not as good as they had been previously. The vindaloo was not spicy and overly tomato flavored. Still a good place to eat, but feel like they took a step backward. Also not having the weekend lunch buffet is a bad idea. They need to be promoting the food as it's not super common in this area and the buffet allowed people to try many different items. read more
