My family recently visited my daughter's college in Rock Hill and decided to try Persis Indian Grill in Fort Mill, since we enjoy their location in Columbia, South Carolina. We were not disappointed. Persis Indian Grill, in Fort Mill South Carolina, is located in a small shopping center that offers an array of parking spots that include a variety of handicap spots that are located in front of the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once opening the Persis's door, the aroma of Indian spices smothered me with excitement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant offers lunch from Monday- Friday: 11 am - 2:30 pm and Saturday-Sunday 11:30am- 3pm. Dinner is from 5pm - 9:30pm Monday - Thursday, on Friday - Saturday 5pm -10pm, and on Sunday 5:30pm - 9pm on Sunday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would recommend going to lunch or dinner once the restaurant opens, because Persis tends to get busy, since there is not a ton of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even though there is limited seating, they do offer tables for those with disabilities.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In addition to their wonderful authentic Indian food Persis also has a full function bar that offers an array of cocktails, beer, and other alcoholic beverages. My family ordered a side of Garlic Naan bread, Shaam Shavera Kofta, Kaju Malsa, and Korma; all of the entrees come with a side of rice. Although the prices are pricey, ranginging from $10 - $25, one will not be disappointed. The portion sizes are larger than the average restaurant and the flavor of the food is authentic. You can tell Persis puts love and care into every dish they serve. Two aspects I enjoy about Persis is that they offer an array of vegetarian options and one can choose their spice level of their entree ranging from baby - extremely hot. If going to Persis for the first time I would suggest ordering the baby spice level to see how your taste buds interact with the spices. However, if your dish is too spicy for you to eat, the staff does not have a problem bringing you a new dish because they truly care for their customers. We've eaten here a few times and for the most part, it's been good. However, a couple of weeks ago we had tandoori shrimp and it was mushy. We all had one piece and unfortunately that's all it took for us to get sick. Everyone got sick. We've only had chicken or vegetarian dishes prior. Stay away from the shrimp. I was contemplating calling the health department but perhaps Persis will pay attention to better quality control. Do better. read more

We've ordered twice from here, and first of all the people who answer the phone are really patient and really kind. They are happy to make changes to the dishes. I have not visited the restaurant, but I would really like to. So far we've just done takeout. Everything is delicious. Solid. On a scale of one to 10. Compared to the best Indian I've ever had. We have been here now a few times mostly take out. But it has been amazing. The food portions are great size to share and still have leftovers. We have had the butter chicken, Tikka Masala, Samosa,Paneer Tikka,Chicken Tandoori,Lamb Saagwala(amazing). The Naan are very good but we order a lot. Rice comes with the dishes. It seemed there was more added color than taste. Food taste at this place as deteriorated over the years. Food price has gone up and quality has gone down here. The Persis is now offering a buffet on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. We just tried it and my goodness but it is excellent! Really huge selection of meat dishes, veg dishes, biryani's, lentil, chick pea and paneer dishes. plenty of accompaniments, nan and poppadoms. Indian desserts, drinks, salad and fruit. Everything we tried was fresh tasting and delicious. And all for $20! I think what most appealed to me was that a non meat eater will find more than sufficient choices. Persis is a pretty complete Indian restaurant. Large choice of Appetizers and Entrees and both vegetarian and meat dishes. Love the Samosa and the Fried Okra sticks were incredible. We had a big party . Lots of Butter Chicken. Tandoori Chicken. Tandoori Paneer, lots of Naans. Only thing the need to work on is service -- Not much clearing of the plates or refilling of water or drinks , but you cannot forget how good the food is !!! read more

First timer Indian restaurant in over 13 years. I'm just not a fan until now. But we will be back here!!!!! Tikka Masala chicken - wonderful over rice!!! Kids loved it. There is a spicy kick to the end of it where the youngest child refused to eat it. But she enjoyed it before the spice. Goat Curry- amazing yummy goat! The adults loved this dish! Lamb Sagwala- order this for the little one to eat but she refused because of the green color. It's was our third favorite. We loved the Goat Curry the most. Spicy but we held our own! Writing my review as I munch on leftovers but oh my gosh. This place is so yummy. So glad there's a place where I can get my curry fix right in town. We had a party of 9 and a child. Some of our group hasn't had Indian food before but throughout enjoyed their meal. Everything we got was delicious. GARLIC NAAN BREAD. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I thought the Naan was average - I've had at other Indian restaurants as well as store bought and it was just a bit too try. Went here for lunch time.. If you're looking for a quick in and out meal., This is not your place to go. We made it there at 12:30pm and didn't get our food till 1:11pm. And have to leave by 1:45pm. I ordered : Fish bites: small pieces of fish fried. The smell didn't sit well with nor, nor taste wasn't very pleasing. Very strong fish smell. I barely took a bite and couldn't even finish that. Our food took 40 minutes to come out and the server tried telling us the lamb was the reason for the delay (we did tikka lamb and butter chicken). The naan was some of the best we've had but the butter chicken was horribly overcooked. They had one server working the whole dining room and she just looked stressed. Traditional Indian food - not too spicy - just the way I like it. Wait staff was courteous. Buffet items were refilled periodically and served nice and hot. Their phirni and sweet Pongal was too good. All the sabzis - palak paneer, beans poriyal and navaratn kurma - were cooked to perfection. I would definitely go back. Their chicken tika masala is the best I've ever had. I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, when a friend suggested we eat here because it's the best she's had, I was skeptical. I mean we have to hail all the way from Charlotte just to eat Indian food. Alas, this is my 3rd visit because it's just that good. The first visit, I had the lamb chops. They were pretty great but once I tasted the tika masala, I was hooked. We have eaten at PERSIS about three times and have ordered takeout a few more times. we have eaten Indian in NYC, Asheville and Charlotte. This is consistently one of the best Indian restaurants I have tried. The service is great. We have had Tikka masala, the dal tadka, lamb chops, Navratan Korma, samosas, Dahi sev Puri, aloo gobhi, Rogan Josh, and butter chicken. The garlic naan is delicious and fresh and light, and the dal is the best i have eaten anywhere. The Dahi Sev Puri is also the best i have had. I found my new Spot! I work with a team from India on a daily basis and we talk food a lot. After a discussion about food last week I finally made it to Persis. When we walked in there wasn't anyone at the front so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. It was cold and we sat right in the row in front of the door which was a big mistake because every time the door opened and there were plenty, we got a blast of cold air. Anyway after being seated we were greeted by a very helpful waitress. For appetizers the Mrs. ordered a tomato soup that was outstanding even without the croutons (she ate em all so I didn't get the full experience) and I ordered samosa. Unfortunately I can't tell you how the samosa tasted because it never came out. For entrees we had chicken palak and chicken vindaloo. The chicken palak looked crazy because in my mind I had a different picture but the taste was magnificent with hints of garlic and ginger in creamy spinach with just a touch of heat. The chicken vindaloo for me though was the start of the show. Spicy red curry with chicken and potato with lots of flavorful heat. I was jealous of the rice as it was the most perfect rice I've ever seen, fluffy and individual. A great accompaniment was the garlic naan which imo is a must have and I should have ordered more. Saturdays are 5.99 house margarita's which was perfect to wash down the spicy meal. Can't wait to go back again even with the few missteps because the food made up for them. read more

First time for wife and I. A-OK. Will take another trip or to entertain fan level. I remember being told long ago that you will not find an Asian-Indian restaurant unless the owner can be assured that 50% of the business will be Indian. Am guessing that is why you do not find Indian restaurants unless it is in a prosperous area. Ummmm... Part of a very large shopping center on Carolina Place Drive, so you have to look for it, located deep down on the right hand side. You enter into a cavernous, very high ceiling room. Other than a mural on the wall, it is pretty stark. Booths and tables. That said, on the other side of the restaurant is a nice, cozy-looking bar and more tables. But we were there for dinner and the food. Menu appears to be a bit sparse, but it is plenty. Each section is divided into non-vegetarian and vegetarian. Appetizers, non-veg ($10.99 - 14.99) and veg ($6/99 - 9.99). We had the Chicken Manchurian at $10.99 and the portion was HUGE. Made me worry about ordering an entree! Very good and pretty spicy. I would give it a high 3 out of 5; but they use a one pepper, two pepper three pepper (and die) scale. Ask your wait person. We had Cory and he was great. Finally there WAS a guy who knew everything and it was Cory. He know each dish and the beers. A handy fellow to have around. Indians are great Lager Beer brewers so I like to get their 22 oz bottles which are perfect for two people. Old Monk at $7.99 was good, a lager, but had a bit of a sour taste to it...like home brew. We shifted to another Indian Lager, Power Cool for our entree and that was a true, malty, no after taste lager at the same price. There is a good range of entrees, including biryani rice dishes and they do have a tandoori oven, so you can get the common chicken tikka masala and other baked items. Entree we chose and enjoyed, was the Methi Chicken ($14.99), which we were attracted to because it was cooked with fenugreek leaves. If you have not tried that herb, give it a go. Much different than the standard cumin & cardamom flavors you are used to with Indian curries. Savory. This also was a solid 3 of 5 in heat. Rice is meted out sparsely, with each course coming with about a cup of rice. Fortunately, you can get more so you can soak up the delicious sauces. They also have a variety of naan breads. Some whole wheat. Plain, garlic, onion and butter varieties. However, you have not lived until you try the chili garlic naan ($2.99). This will light your fire in a delightful way. You will find that you can enjoy the heat of this naan by cutting it with the three level sauces. This naan is the best I have had, to include eating in India. The bill was right at $49, which seems high for two dishes, bread and beer; but this is an Indian restaurant which earns a return visit. Maybe we will see you there? read more
