It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is like a fine diner on the inside. We were sat quickly and provided with two menus- one for lunch and a dinner menu to boot. I was really in the mood for tandoori chicken but went with the lunch special because it was so much cheaper. It seemed like a lot of food so it was good value in that regard. I just wish the dinner pricing were closer to the lunch pricing. I don't mind paying a little more to get what I really want. The service was fast but it wasn't clear how we were supposed to settle up at the end. There was no bill. After asking we were told to pay at the register. Kind of odd on that regard. I would probably go back someday but there are a lot of alternatives for Indian food in Charlotte. read more

We came in for dinner at around 8:15 pm and didn't leave until 9:30. The service was super slow and we had to constantly ask for things like napkins and silverware. The server didn't bring the tamarind chutney that we requested when we ordered so we had to ask for that but he never brought it to the table while we were eating our meal. The butter chicken was acceptable, not great. The best part of the meal was our fried cauliflower appetizer. We needed to go boxes so we asked for those as well as tamarind chutney to go. There was no acknowledgement that our previous request was forgotten. When we asked for our check, that was ignored and we had to figure out ourselves that checkout was done at the counter up front. First, I typically enjoy an Indian buffet option, but many of these have been eliminated, but gradually reappearing. That said, this is some really good Indian food. We ordered four entrees and a single appetizer to share as a couple, with plans to take extras home first leftovers. Throw in some naan and raita, and dinner was set before us. One entree was chicken Tikka masala and three vegetarian dishes. All were excellent, spiced nicely and most flavorful. In fact, this was some of the best Indian food I've had in the Charlotte area. Entire bill plus tip was about $85 bucks, well worth it and with enough food left over for an additional meal. My only problem: plastic bottled water, not very cold. I would prefer ice water, but that wasn't an option. At any case, we'll be back again to try other vegetarian dishes. read more

First time back after the name change in 2017. This was really good and some dishes were better, to our tastes than at Indian Fusion and Dakshin. Lunch special for $12: 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, papadum kind of crisp bread, rice or naan, dessert. Served on an aluminum slotted tray, literally one I ate from in my 20 years in the Army, served in one swoop. Excellent sampler and they have a different special every day. Look at their web page. You do not have choice, other than veg or non-veg, with the entrees. They are set and you have to go into the menu to order different. Biryani is an option at extra cost. Wife and a woman friend loved it. I did, too. Although I ordered from the menu. Fried cauliflower (Gobi 65), huge portion, well-fried but other than the cilantro-mint sauce, was boring. Good but boring. I like the Southern Indian Chettinadu curry, but it was only offered with chicken. I wanted lamb or goat. Found out that it is not just a protein switch because the cooking sauces are different for each protein. So, at my wife's encouragement (because she wanted to taste it!) I went the chicken route. It was wonderful. Better than Indian Fusion. Bhindi (sauced okra) was outstanding. Soooo flavorful, beating out Dakshin and Indian Fusion. Extremely tasteful. And huge portion, again. Chicken Tikka Masala, the go-to favorite of my wife, was also better than others and very flavorful. At Indian Fusion, it is very tomato-y. Tabla's was a nice spice blend and creamier. Naan could be made with or without butter. Plain naan was great and not oily. I want to try other entrees and appitizers so will certainly return. read more

I have ordered delivery from here several times via Uber Eats and have been really impressed with their consistency. Some of the dishes we have ordered: Gobi Manchuran and Gobi 65 - REALLY flavorful and delicious. Even with delivery some pieces remained crispy- so I cant imagine how much better it is when eaten just cooked in the restaurant! Chili Baby Corn- my favorite app here, cool indo-chinese fusion flavors and a decent portion size. Channa Masala - this tastes like home comfort food, and fresh. Often I've had this dish at other places and it seems to be overly spiced but at Tabla, its seasoned just right and tastes like a small-batch dish. Veg Fried Rice- I could eat this every day. Also a generous portion size, which you'd hope for since its just under 11 bucks. I really hope life can get to some form of 'normal' sometime soon as I would love to visit this restaurant in-person and see if its even possible to improve upon the experience eating food as it comes out the kitchen. Please don't order food in this restaurant. I would rate even below one star if there is an option. I have ordered Ulvacharu goat biryani and the whole biryani is stale and smells like burnt food when I eat. I think they gave me left over goat biryani. The other biryani that I order was Vijayawada boneless biryani. About the boneless chicken biryani, it doesn't feel and taste like a biryani. It's literally chicken curry over rice. I would seriously recommend the restaurant to change the boneless chicken biryani name to chicken curry and rice because it would be the apt name for the biryani. Sorry I mentioned it as biryani, since it's a curry over rice. The biryani is not at all fresh. Please don't waste your money eating at this place. read more

I have been on a mission to try every Indian Restaurant around me so my search sent me here. I was not very impressed with the interior, but the food was good. We started with one of my favorites Malai Kofta and it was really good and I enjoyed heat it brought on the back end. We also had Chicken Tikka and Goat curry medium spice. Both were very flavorful. We were a little disappointed that they didn't have a Chicken Korma dish only Veggie Korma, which when asked at other Indian restaurants they can usually conform but was told only Veggie Korma is served. They also advertised they served wine but they only serve beer. Took off a star for that, I would have enjoyed a glass of wine with my meal.
