My husband was the one who told me about this place when he first came to OK. He took me here for dinner during our weekend getaway. I like the ambiance outside and inside of the restaurant. Great bbq!! Now I'm torn between KC and OK bbq's!!! The sides were delicious. I had to skip the dessert because I couldn't put anything else in my tummy. The servers are very courteous to us. Holy cow!! (No pun intended). So, they messed up my order. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich and corn but instead I got this ginormous meat platter with brisket, ribs, potatoes, and a roll. I was just too far away by the time I figured out and it just wasn't worth turning around. Y'all, I would never order a platter like this because it's just too much food but I ate on that amazing deliciousness for 4 days. However, after eating that I would totally order it next time. Some campers said this was the place for bbq, so we decided to take a run to town and try it out. There are 4 different sauces. We tried two and they were both good. We shared the 2 meat plate with brisket and pork, both were very good. Of course we had to try the required bbq sides, Cole slaw and potato salad. My favorite BBQ restaurant. I personally drive from Dallas Texas to Ardmore just to get my hands on this delicious food! That's just how good it is. While driving to my hotel, I noticed Swadley's BBQ. This is a new place and well worth your time to stop in ! If you've read any of my post, you know I like restaurants that not only have good food, but the service you receive, in most cases , is just as important. Swadley's has a beautiful building, great classic country music playing and the very best service I have seen. It's evident from the plaque beside their front door, to the cross in the parking lot and their Moto, "Where Faith and Families come together ", that they are a Christian operation. I wish I could give 6 stars!! Now to the food. I went with the two meat plate (brisket & sausage), my sides were spicy beans and sweet corn, I also added a one trip to the salad bar. WOW!!!! The corn and beans were crazy Good!!! The two meats were good too. Here is where they separate themselves from other places. I needed my tea refilled, but my waitress was very busy. Another waiter asked if he could get it for me and I said sure! He said, "sir I apologize you ran out of tea, can I get you a piece of cake (chocolate or strawberry) on the house ?". The waitresses was we super sweet and I love a restaurant with commendable service! As a Culinary teacher who has a BBQ Team, I am very picky when it comes to restaurants that serve my beloved food. I will say though, I cannot vouche for their brisket as my daughter and I split the 1/2 lb. chicken fried steak. The chicken fried steak was good but the gravy was bland. The onion straws and okra were amazing. The potatoes and the macaroni and cheese were decent, though we've had better. Also, the ice cream was about average for a BBQ joint- which means not good at all. I think we should start a riot about that! Overall, I would give it a 3 1/2 stars if they'd let me and maybe one day, when I'm in the area, I'll go back to try the restaurant again. read more

Amazing! Delicious! Great Value for a Great Experience! The salad bar is well stocked with onions, cherry tomatoes, pickles... everything you need. The service is second to none. I watched as three different servers than mine made sure I didn't need a refill on my drink. Additionally the GM, Craig, personally came to the table to greet and make sure each guest was doing well. Driving through Oklahoma on a road trip and saw the sign for BBQ so thought we'd stop in. We got The City Boy with brisket and fries and the Smoked Club with fries. We got plenty of food and it all tasted great! The service was great, as well. Our server brought our drinks and a sampling of all the BBQ sauces. Party of 4 on July 13th. The food was AMAZING! 2 of us ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, 1 with sweet beans and fried okra, 1 with onion petals and cream corn. All of it was spectacular. 1 ordered pulled pork sandwich with fries and okra. The server came out and told him that they just ran out of pulled pork. He changed to chopped brisket, with fries and okra. They first brought out a chicken sandwich, and he let them know that was wrong. And they took it back. They then brought out the brisket sandwich, but wrong sides. Since they had already set it down on the table, they could not take it back. So they left that, and also brought out the sandwich with the correct sides. Although he really wanted to try the pulled pork, he was extremely pleased with the chopped brisket sandwich. The last person ordered ribs, but I don't remember what sides. He said the ribs were very good. We tried the sweet sauce, and the spicy sauce. Both were excellent. They brought them to the table in condiment cups. I don't know if this is normal procedure, or if just during Coronavirus, but felt bad that we had to keep requesting more. The manager came to the table to apologize for the problems with the orders. Them running out of pulled pork, and the mix ups on the replacements. And to make sure everything worked out okay. We assured him that all was well, and that we were very happy with the food and service. Would definitely dine here again if in the area. And definitely recommend to give it a try if you have a chance. Was surprised to see the salad bar open with the coronavirus restrictions, but none of our party ordered that. read more

Ah jeez I hate writing reviews like this. We drive by all the time; we're in DFW and the kids and grandkids in the OKC area. I'd read the reviews and this time said to the wife I shouldn't take any longer Han fast food; it's barbecue. As for my barbecue chops. While I'm a Texan, I grew up in Memphis and learned from the great Horton Payne and worked for 2 time Memphis in may winner John Wills. I can smoke a pork shoulder and a brisket. For a Thursday night around 830 the place was packed. Wife wanted a half rack of ribs, and I was really wanting to try the burger, as folks around us were talking about it. But nope, out of ribs, out of burgers. I never criticize a barbecue place for running out of proteins but burgers aren't in that category. Hmmm. We get burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, along with the slaw, and onion strings. Service was excellent as a kid took our drink orders, brought sauces, pickles onions and jalapeños. The wait was longer than it should have been. Barbecue is quick serve dining as it's all cooked ahead, nothing is made to order. Finally out meal arrived. It starts with the meat and unfortunately it ends poorly. Burnt ends aren't supposed to be burnt; these were. They had been cooked to death, with a deeply burned bitter tough crust. Blechh. Brisket arrived roughly chopped rather than sliced, and suffered a similar fate as the burnt ends. It had also been improperly cut, stringy as it was cut against the grain. And again it had an impenetrable tough crust rather than a "bark", no seasoning was detected, and no smoke in the meat. The "Tennessee pulled pork" was the best of the bunch but again improperly prepared, it was chopped not pulled. There was little smoke or seasoning. This has nothing to do with what one gets even at mediocre joints in Memphis. I thought about the sausage but on seeing it glad I skipped it; it appeared underrendered and overly greasy. Frankly it was just inept. Slaw was nicely shredded and crisp but the dressing was flavorless. The onion strings were the best thing along with the homemade roll. These have almost zero cost and a basket of them should be brought to the table. Great friendly service. Very clean. I'm hoping this isn't the work of the regular pitmaster. It was just bad barbecue from every angle, like it was made by someone who'd never made it before. I hope they can do better. read more

I go to Swadleys probably once or twice a month maybe more and I always get the same thing. The Oklahoma sampler with okra and campfire taters and I have yet to have a bad meal. The okra is the best I've had and the bbq is pretty consistent as well. I've been to several locations and I get the same great service every where. read more

Finally a decent restaurant in Ardmore other then Cafe Alley. The ribs were excellent. The sides are pretty boring and the mac'n'cheese was disgusting. They really need a new recipe. The worst I've ever had. I wish I could order the ribs a la carte. That's all I need. They really push for tips with the signs all around and the cashier asking me if I need cash back to tip the servers. Obviously I will tip since they serve you everything.
