They hand washed a vintage jacket made of rayon and silk the instructions clearly stated "Dry clean only" I have a degree in interior design and have taught classes on "textiles " at a local college I'm an expert in the care of textiles. They should have followed the directions had I been called prior to their decision I would have picked my jacket up and taken to a more reputable dry cleaner. Unfortunately the fabric has now been compromised I'm very unhappy about their deliberate choice! Absolutely avoid this cleaner! On two separate occasions received men's dress shirts with shredded sleeves (between the cuff and elbow along the forearm). Called the El Dorado shop who told me to contact Amanda (manager) at another store....who told me "...sometimes that happens to old shirts". First shirt was old and at the end of its life so I was not concerned with the loss of that shirt and dismissed it (this prior to contacting Swansons). Second shirt worn only 3-4 times and a +$200. Eton Dress shirt with the sleeve above the cuff shredded in same manner returned to me on hangar covered with plastic about 3-4 months after first incident. There computer system noted the shirt was received damaged...BS. Same type damage....different occasions....no notification. I'd post images of first shirt but threw it away thinking it was an anomaly....nope. While in their El Dorado Hills location midday on 4/12/23....a gentleman in there who paid $100. to have his leather jacket cleaned...returned his leather (suede) jacket as it was not cleaned. Whatever their processes is, the dress shirt is being caught in a mechanical device (hinge) or process or both (photos attached). Ordinarily pleased with the service and quality but can not risk losing some expensive clothes to carelessness. Did not ask for money just taking my business elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I've done here a few times out of necessity but I now officially done. Last service was over $700, this time we went in to pick up and drop off. The woman working was clearly not interested in helping anyone, she was more irritated she had to get up to help someone, She asks how many items I'm dropping off, I tell her I need to count and start making piles on the counter. She makes no effort to help. I ask if she needs to know by item type (pants, blouse, dresses, etc). She doesn't answer. I tell her I have items. She walks away and then I find another item and tell her there are 17 items. As she comes back she hands me a ticket for 16 items and I again say I have 17 items. She looks at me and says she can't change the ticket. So she wants me to give her 17 items with a ticket to claim 16. And she has made no effort to help. I grabbed my bag and told her I was going elsewhere to which she replied, "excuse me?" They might as well have a drop through the door and no employee. She was lazy, rude and successfully lost that business owner a customer. read more

They leave your clothes outside the door where people passing by can easily steal them.

If you are using this cleaner for business suits or dress shirts - forget it. At their prices it's cheaper to buy a new shirt.

I just picked up several dry clean and laundered men's shirts after dropping off last week. Yes, they are incredibly expensive, and they just kind of say oh well when I bring it to their attention. Oh really! I've always felt Swanson's was a little too pricey but since they were right around the corner we figured... benefit of the doubt, that's what we'll give them. Well, my resistance is confirmed! Long story short, the person who took the order did tell my wife "We have to send this out...". Okay fair enough, couldn't be more then $15 right!?!? WRONG!!! $40... wouldn't you think if something had to be sent out they would communicate the cost up front if it was that substancial?!?! I know what you're thinking... You should have asked the cost... reconsider... if your going to charge an arm and a leg to do business... shouldn't they be confident in their service and communicate the cost... Not so much! Eek! When I needed a learner Hackett repaired in a short time frame, the staff member apologized that Swanson could not provide my requested service and then recommended an alternate professional. Cadillac prices for Rambler service. The store manager tried to blame me when they lost an article. I had to call his supervisor in Sacramento and it was found two weeks later. The store manager acted like it was a bother to deal with a customer. The people who work there do not communicate with each other so be prepared to not have your order done correctly. Do not bother buying their coupon book. There are so many stipulations on how you can use them that is useless. Do they really expect a customer to bring in one shirt a day so the coupons can be used? Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache of going there! read more

I have been a customer for the past three years and I am sad to say it it took me this long to finally get so fed up with the quality of services provided that I have decided to write this review and seek services from competitors. I have, more times than I can remember, received suits back that had so much lint all over them that I had to use a lint brush to make it look the way it should've looked when it was returned. I emailed Swanson's bringing it to their attention and, for at least 1 to 2 times thereafter, it improved, but then it went right back to the usual where it looked like someone with a pet had worn them before having them delivered. I also had them put in their client notes that I did not want my sweaters hung up because the wire hangers they use stretch the corners out making them non-wearable. Again, I would receive them on hangers, would bring it to their attention by email, it would improve for a bit and then go back to their usual sloppy work. They didn't even hang them on the hangers properly. Most oftentimes my suit coats and sweaters would be hanging asymmetrically which would then cause the items to become wrinkled before I could even wear them after being returned back to me. Additionally, it looks like they have gotten into the habit of ironing dress pants, instead of pressing them in the normal manner, which has led to iron marks because they presumably left the high heat on the material too long. This happened most recently twice on two separate pairs of black dress pants that I have had for a long time that have never had any similar marks put on them. The straw that broke the camel's back was having a brand-new sweater, worn twice, ruined somehow with a hole in the front of the shoulder. I check all of my clothing before sending it out in the pick up bag to make sure there are no buttons missing or any damage, just because I have never trusted them since the problems with my dry cleaning began, so I know that the hole was caused by something they did. I started using this company after moving to the area because my business partner is close friends with Steve Swanson, so I disregarded the comments on Yelp thinking it was just this location and that it would improve if issues arose and were brought to Steve's attention. Unfortunately, I believe this is a franchise, not handled by the Swanson's, as I assume they would never put their stamp of approval on such practices. I will be letting Steve know so that if this location is, in fact, a franchise, he may still be able to effect change through the franchising agreement. read more

Great service, always on time, I have nothing but great things to say about the company. For a very commercial dry cleaners (they have been around for years and have multiple locations) they do an outstanding job. I have been using Swansons for years including their free delivery service and haven't ever been let down and if anything ever happens they're the first to call and let me know to keep me in the loop. Upon picking up my clothes they had misplaced the coupon (which must be given when you drop off) and then offered $5 off as the "best" they could do. Sounds a little like "bait & switch".
