When we arrived, it was overcast but quickly brightened up and we had a pleasant time. The woman working (Kristy?) pointed out at the start that the previous weekend had cleaned out most of the apples from the trees, but advised there were some to be had. I think she indicated they had nine types, many of which I had never heard of before (Cameo anyone?). They were clearly marked on a string hanging from a tree, but I recommended next year they make little signs. Anyway, it was true that most of the apples were off the tree but we still found plenty to take home. And, most actually tasted great (I don't like Macintosh or Red Delicious apples). We had the entire orchard for ourselves for the first 45 minutes or so, and it was very relaxing. We even found a couple of families of chipmunks in the trees. There are other things to do as well, such as a nature walk around the pond, and some activities for kids during their events. Their country store was well stocked with meats, jams, vegetables (they have "pick your own vegetables too for those who don't own a garden), and pastries. We each had a cider donut, and they were yummy. I had never heard of this place before, but really enjoyed it and can't wait to come back.

We parked in front of the shop, and the smell of freshly baked goods greeted us when we entered. At that moment I knew this place would not disappoint. The counter had pies, turnovers, and cookies on display, but we came with a mission: secure a cider donut. It's so refreshing to see donuts sold at a reasonable price. For $1.35, these were a steal compared to the $6 ones sold in the city. (Yes, $6 for a single!) The donuts, which were still warm when we had them, were generously coated with cinnamon sugar. Our group was assembled with two adults and two kids: we all thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful trip out there. First off, we were encouraged to pick fresh herbs & flowers all for free! Matilda loved it so much she squealed with joy as we ran through the rows of plants and picked flowers. We all left very happy and was glad we made the to trek out there.
