Dog friendly orchard near Albany, NY! They have tons to do & eat including a free corn maze, apple picking, live music, vendors, food trucks and more! What a spot - it was like a mini fairgrounds! We walked the property with our pup, got some frozen Apple Cider and donuts, kettle corn, lemonade and did the free corn maze! We don't have dog friendly orchards where we are (CT) so love that we had this spot nearby to take our pup! read more

What a neat place. Prices weren't terrible and it's set up so nicely. Not too sprawling that you have to walk forever to get the different apples, either. The market is cute and has very kitschy items that you didn't know you needed. The donuts were ok--not my favorite, but not bad. The fire pits were decently taken care of that they produced a decent warmth. Ciders were tasty, people were nice...cannot say anything bad about this place. read more

What a treat! Food, live music, apples, firepits? Amazing. The U-Pick apples are $1.25 / pound which is a great deal! The food trucks were tasty and reasonably priced. Going and enjoying the atmosphere is totally, free-- there is no cost of admission. That said I highly recommend picking a few apples, grabbing a bite from a food truck, and enjoying a piece of fudge or something sweet from the store. I though this was the quintessential fall day. It's a bit tricky to get to, but ride-share can get you there. My only wish is that they had a spot to stash luggage or backpacks for out-of-towners, parents, etc, but it's no big deal! Highly recommend a day at Windy Hill. Can't wait to go back when the Cidery is open. read more

This was a great day through and through , great choice between snacks and drinks in their farm store , along with hard cider ( if you like ) and food trucks were great , live music was a great vibe overall and got to meet and talk to a lot of people . I recommend looking on their site to see what events they have going on . We went to the annual car show which was a blast for us . The corn maze was fun and well done , the Apple orchards are just absolutely beautiful. 10/10 read more

I hadn't been here in a decade, when it was Goold's Orchard. But, I enjoyed it then so in coming back I expected to have a good time. And I did. The place has helpful maps everywhere to lead you directly to the apples. They had nine or ten types though a lot were devoted to Red Delicious (yuck). The ground underneath the trees was littered with apples, so at one time the trees must have been loaded. We sought out a couple of other varieties which were in limited supply but my wife found enough good apples on the ground to fill a bag. While walking around, we saw corn mazes for the kids, picnic and bonfire areas for families, signs for a coming winery for the adults, and lots of other "country" things to do. It sort of reminded me of an amusement park, except everything was clean and there weren't clowns heckling you to pitch them into the dunk tank. When we were there on a Tuesday morning there were only a dozen or so other people around, and it was very quiet and pleasant. I can only imagine how busy they are during one of their event weekends. We also sampled their cider donuts hot and though they were good, I think I have had better. I am glad we came, though we missed out on a lot of the apples we liked being on the trees. They really need to do a better job with controlling large crowds during COVID. I liked that it was free to get in but I didn't like that there was no capacity limit. I went today with my toddler (who can't wear a mask because she's under two) and my husband. Usually when we go to places like this we spend money and support the local business. Today I was not comfortable doing that. People were walking (the wrong way) through the corn maze with no masks on, lines were outrageous and there were rotten apples every where. There were several "photo op" stations that people were just sitting at eating, not allowing other people to go and take a picture. I get that there aren't many things to do right now, but we went to another farm in the area last month and they put a limit on how many cars could come in at a a time. That experience was much more enjoyable and I felt a lot more comfortable. It's a shame because this farm looked really cool. Maybe we can try coming back when social distancing isn't necessary anymore. read more

My family and I enjoyed our Saturday afternoon at Windy Hill Orchard. The live music and the free samples of fresh cooked kettle corn, so many different flavors to choose from. Different vendors show casing their amazing products. My granddaughter enjoyed the corn maze and the tractor ride. Loved the well thought out places to take great photos or you can sit and relax by the fire pit. The Apple cider slushie was my favorite treat! read more

A nice venue with lots of things to do and plenty of food and treats. There definitely could be better organization to prevent huge lines of people going into the store to pay for their picked apples, cider donuts, etc. A separate system for weighing and paying for apples would help cut down the lines a bit. Although we did have a good time, we agreed to go back to another, less crowded orchard next year. read more

Windy Hill is the on the site of the former Goold Orchard. The new owners kept all the best things about Goold and put some great new touches on. For example, they kept the baker (who has been there for almost 30 years) as the pies are so fresh and delicious. Each row has clearly marked signs telling what's planted in that row. No more guessing! The store has an excellent assortment of baked goods, jams, etc. It is well organized, spotless and the people are all very friendly. They still have fairs and special weekends events. With several seating areas and fire pits throughout the property along with a corn maze and many other activities, they have made this into a destination not just for apple picking. It's a great place to hang spend some time and enjoy fall colors and views. read more

This is the best place to go apple picking! I've never had such sweet juicy tasty apples in my life! Amazing atmosphere and the owners/staff are amazing as well! Made my husband stop here while driving through because I really wanted some cider when I saw the sign and that it was open. Really delicious fresh cider, the pies and baked goods looked absolutely fabulous and I really wish I'd been able to buy some of them. Thanks for the cider! read more

wihile they seemed to be organized the check out was terrible. cashier was horribly slow , hard time even making change when it tells you. the donuts not as good as goulds and when i got home I had the wrong pie . box marked SR (strawberry rhubarb) it was indeed cherry. yuck read more

While my children's were young the orchard was always a fall must. From the craft fair, corn mazes, pumpkin picking, apple picking, and of course stopping in to the bakery for some fresh baked donuts and pies. As the kids have grown up and move on I still stop in a couple times during the fall season. It is still a family friendly place that offers wonderful memories for young families. I stopped in last week reminiscing about the many times we were there with my boys. On my way out, I purchased two Dutch Apple pies to drop off to my boys. Well, they were terrible. Obviously they are using canned pie filling. There were no slices of apples in the pie, more of a jelly filling. They are in the middle of an apple orchard and they couldn't spear a slice? Such a disappointment. We gave one pie away and threw the other away. Garbage. To be respectful I reached out to WIndy Hill via Facebook messenger. They read the message but never responded. They must not care too much about losing a customer. As a pie cleanse I went town to Golden Harvest and picked up two peach pies. I'll review them later. read more
