I should preface this with I HATE working out, always have and always will. Unfortunately at 49 you have to start doing something different. I had found an ad on Facebook some how and sort of just partially looked at it. After a couple of messages from the guys at the gym I decided to come in and take a look around and see what they had to offer, the place was booming when I came in (full blown workout going on) and it was a pretty good size crowd for early afternoon. After talking with Jan I decided to try the 6 week challenge and it was tough getting started, but got easier as the weeks went on. The works outs I will say are NOT a joke, they will kick your butt and the staff are no joke either. They really care about their gym and they seem to care about the members. My wife and I have joined the gym and we're not from here, we actually live in Texas but are here for an undetermined amount of time for work right now. Thanks to a friend who invited me to join a sweat equity challenge I'm slowly but surely dropping all the weight I've gained in quarantine during Covid. I was paired with an awesome partner for the challenge, who keeps me motivated and on track. Great workouts! Sweat Equity has small(ash) classes with a LARGE amount of challenge and variety. This is not for the faint of heart for sure! We are talking burpees, box jumps, pull-ups and rowing. Everyone here is helpful I as you rotate through each station. The workouts are around 45 minutes and vary from day to day. There are different membership options as well. I have a horrific schedule and I can't commit to s specific time each day to workout but if you are regimented and love being surrounded by like minded fitness folk this is the place to be! I did not want to write this review; however, the rude and unprofessional service I received from Jan, one of the OWNERS/TRAINERS of Sweat Equity, exemplifies why it is necessary. I had witnessed Jan ridicule several other members and trainers, but in my own way, I did not expect to encounter it myself. However, it was now my "turn." I was a longtime member of Sweat Equity, and in 2019 I paid for two yearly memberships. My partner and I supported this small family business through COVID-19 when gyms were closed, and many companies were/are struggling to stay afloat. We planned to remain members even through hard times. On 9/4/2020, however, I was treated so poorly by Jan that we canceled both memberships. That day, the circuits were not set up in an orderly manner, which made the stations confusing. During the warm-up, Jan started yelling and demanded that I "move!" to a space BETWEEN the barbell rack and the barbell on the floor. I questioned the move because there was not a mat in that area (which everyone is required to work out on), and the space was small even for someone like myself who is petite. It was early in the morning, and I was upset about Jan's hostility and negative energy. Hoping to "clear the air," I apologized for unknowingly being in the "wrong place" to warm up. Around the 4th station, Jan was close to my face and yelled, "do it now, or you can get out" and then puffed his chest out. Twice I said, "Jan, you are threatening me, and you need to stop!" When I reminded Jan that I paid to work out, he shouted, "I don't know if you paid or not!" I was stunned! I had been a member since 2018, and at that time, membership was $159/month. I thought, "Is he serious? That is a lot of money for a gym, so how could he not know whether I paid my membership?" Jan approached me at various stations, each time using a condescending tone and displaying an attitude of aggression rather than helpfulness. At one point, the weights I was using "disappeared." When I looked around, I saw that they were put among the dirty equipment and sprayed for cleaning. Recently, the atmosphere in the gym was one of "pins and needles." I was even nervous about getting new weights as members were informed that, due to COVID-19, the dumbbells an individual chooses at the beginning is the weight he/she must use for the entire workout. Really?! A variety of weights are often used for different exercises. There is nothing like worrying that the gym owner might get angry if members exchange weights!! Near the last station, Jan ordered that I go to the orange section (after I had been in the blue the entire workout.) By this time, I had had enough badgering and I advised him that he needed to "self-reflect" as to how he is responding to and treating clients. I told him that his behavior, demeanor, and the way he speaks to members is unacceptable-especially in a business establishment! I left Sweat Equity that morning feeling intimidated, shocked, angry, and disappointed. I am a professional. I have worked for myself and with individuals from all walks of life, facing many different issues. I have networked extensively with large businesses and organizations to serve people and our community. I understand that exceptional business practices ALWAYS include treating the customer with dignity and inviting them to stay, rather than an owner reacting impulsively and in ill behavior towards clients. The lack of self-respect, member appreciation, self-control, and pride for one's business portrayed by Jan is a disservice to the fitness world. The owners of SE need to evaluate their business strategies and incorporate a protocol regarding appropriate customer service; specifically, professional communication and relational development. There are no excuses for verbal harassment, invasion of physical space while yelling, angrily pointing and making demands, and blaming clients for problems that are within the business itself! read more

I do not recommend the 6 weeks challenge. It's not free, will cost you $500 to be able to participate then u must to loose 6% of body fat.. how the measure your body fat it's ridiculous, they use a weight scale that is associate to they Gym App, and then those weight scale it's not accurate ... However I do recommend the fuctional class $177, I lost 14lbs in 6 weeks but I didn't pass the challenge! So it's up to you! read more

Omg this gym is amazing !! They always have variety of workouts - this is super helpful as I have a tendency to get bored with my routine. The staff are all super friendly and really help me push to my maximum. I truly do not feel judged at this gym because although my resistance and weight training skills are developed, I'm very clumsy with cross training. My trainers helped me work at my pace and I've been able to really target my shoulders and calves, which have been difficult for me to develop on my own. I started with the 6-week which I finish tomorrow and I gotta say, I'm hooked. I've always had trouble sticking to a program and eating well but this process has been an amazing experience. The accountability makes all the difference. The classes are intense, but you go out at your own pace so it works for all fitness levels, which was a big plus for me the beginning because, let's just say it had been a WHILE since I had done a real workout regimen. It's truly amazing how far I've come from that first day, losing 37 lbs in these 6 weeks and fired up to keep it going! The trainers, Zac, my accountability coach for the challenge, Nelly, Chris, Cassie, and co-owners Jess and Jan, have all been a huge part my success, helping with encouragement and guidance whenever it was needed. I started the Sweat Equity 6-week challenge on May 6th and if you had asked how I felt about Sweat Equity 5 of the 6 weeks I attended, I'd certainly be giving a glowing review. I saw the information on Facebook and went to go see what the "Free" program was all about. I guess that's where my first red flag should have been identified. The program, though offered as free, NEVER is actually free. The purpose of the program is to keep your money, despite everything that they say. Following the program, you should get your money back, except, a portion for the different features that they provide, completely understandable, or you can use the money you initially paid to fund continued membership. Again, not a FREE program as advertised. The training really was great. Zac and Chris were truly wonderful trainers and I'm thankful for the patience and the individualize training that they provided. My second and probably the main red flag was when I was approached by two new prospects inside the gym asking if it was truly free or if there was a cost. My response was truthful (even though I failed to mention that they never truly get their money back). Jess (one of the trainers)'s response was to get in my face IN FRONT OF THEM and yell WHY DID YOU DO THAT?? WHY DID YOU DO THAT?? Her interaction was so terrible that the poor girls had to mouth apologies for me having entered into that situation. All I could do was apologize to Jess as she continued to shout in my face. After unenthusiastically escorting the girls to the back, Jess proceeded to call over one of the receptionists and LOUDLY say "So you'll want to make sure that this never happens. She just told the girls that we do charge for the challenge." My response was not malicious, it was truthful. Perhaps the fine print that I initialed had the "DON'T TELL ANYONE THE TRUTH RULE" and I just didn't pay attention to it. Not sure, but apparently Sweat Equity can't decide if they want their members to look like liars or if they themselves want to look like liars. Either way, Jess's "customer service" skills truly leave one wondering what else Sweat Equity is hiding from new members. I was truly hurt because I had nothing but positive things to say and quickly, one of the main promoters of a more positive and healthy lifestyle made my experience there nothing but a bad memory. Thank you for really showing your true colors and really making Sweat Equity no different than any other money hungry organization disguised as an inspirational company. It's a shame because some trainers truly seem interested in helping those in their community. read more

They incorporate HIIT with strength training in a way that is fun and easy to learn. The trainers and owners are extremely knowledgeable and will push you to do your best! The music they play keeps you pumped throughout the session. They provide a nonjudgmental atmosphere, and all fitness levels are welcomed! The classes are scheduled throughout the day, so you can always find a time that works for you. They also have a shower for you to utilize after your sweat session! I am here 4-5 days out of the week, and I can honestly say getting fit at SEF is one of the best decisions I've ever made. We treat one another like family here. I'm seeing results and reaching goals that I couldn't have achieved by myself. What more can I say? This is a update to my review in April. After reviewing the Tabata method I have to say that it supercedes all the other methods. This is intense, fun, you will definitely never be bored AT ALL and the team partner workouts applied keep your intensity level high. I am recommending this place with 5 stars due to this method does have a post after burn as I was on 1000 calories a day and zoomed up to almost 1500 low carbs, high protein in 2 weeks. You will be hungry the next day and this is how you know if the workout is literally burning calories. I have been to many places as I move a lot for work and these people definitely invested in equiptment....there is so much stuff I get dizzy just looking at it=different stuff to do always and never bored. The price is definitely right as these other places want to charge so much money for no ac, wooden boxes, monkey bars, swings, treadmill with dumbells and bosu balls GTFOH I end of quitting everything I am so bored within a month with the same crappy equipment. How many things can I do with that bench and TRX rope on wall geez. Oh let me not go there with the mile run out in the heat and chins hurting then wood box and barbells. Ok that works for a bit then what. This place has all this stuff and more it has 100's of equipment and its all hidden well...clean clean clean...CLEAN...NEW...and it is intense but I love it you have to come check this place out it is by far the most fascinating place I have been too all over south fl and I literally am not lying. I have done it all swings, ropes oh god what else are people going to make up to loose weight but this tabata style is very impressive as I studied this in 2008 and fired my poor weight trainer the 2nd day of her doing tabata. I thought it was way too intense and stuck on steady state but as years went by steady state got way too boring and you keep quitting because its the same crap over and over so I started HITT styles in 2011 and well never going back to steady state but this is impressive to where it will shock your body. read more
