Great Snacks!! I love jerky and they have SOY, Shitake Mushroom and Seitan jerky which are super yummy and VEGAN. The coffee is really good too better than starbucks. And their sweet treats are vegan cookies and vegan cupcakes which you would not believed they are vegan. YUM YUM YUMMY all of them. I believe they have other sweets but I can't remember now. As a true crate digger and vinyl junkie i found this spot a tad disappointing. The dollar bin..basically two rows of records had the usual neil diamond easy listening joints mixed with a ton of dj 12 inches ..mostly hiphop joints from the uninspired 2000"7 era. Yawn. Very weak selection of reggae albums and the jazz/rock records also disappointing. Even the Spanish selection was flaco. The store's saving grace to me was finding the 2nd Tygers of Pan Tang album. Which was the first appearance of future Thin Lizzy axe man John Sykes. His early shredding on the Tygers album helped paved the way for his influential metal riffs on Lizzy's Thunder and Lighting album. Stoked to have this on vinyl. Good price too $5 read more

The sentiment is probably familiar to most musicophiles, anyone who still revels in the idea that new and interesting music awaits your listening pleasure if you just walk thru the door. Sweat is a bastion in a world where radio is stifling, repetitive, boring. This place is a refuge for local musicians, for connoisseurs, for those freaks who need music instead of their lunch money. Sweat records is my local record store. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and they've made it their mission to support local talent including poets and indie labels. If you are an out-of-towner, they'll know what else is going on in the city. They even give you free music through their punch card system! The only place where I pop up and get records! Solid prices and the staff is more then accommodating. The staff members that are more then welcoming and sweet and helpful are the wonderful RANDY and GABRIEL. I really enjoy the artwork and the customer service. The music they play is constantly chill or funky. They sometime have pop shows so make sure you give them your email. They also make orders for special records you want. I can't see myself going anywhere for records. They have pins for jackets and always have coffee or espressos ready to go. I find myself always being constantly helped with either good recommendations and good advice when I comes to music and artists. A must go. read more

Sweat Records is now one of my favourite record stores. If you are looking for new records at great prices, pop by. Many record stores have increased their prices tremendously. The prices here are VERY reasonable. I purchased a record at Sweat for $13, while it was selling online for 19 (excluding S&H) and at other shows for $22. Not a huge price difference, but when you buy quite a number of records, the savings add up. I felt like I got some good deals here. The selection was awesome. Many genres represented and are categorized quite nicely. They had an awesome New Releases section and a locals section. Sweat seemed to specialize in new stuff. There was a respectable used and 7" section, but if you are a digger or like browsing through the endless dollar bin aisle...look elsewhere. Mainly new stuff at Sweat. The staff at a record store can be a mixed bag. I've been to some that couldn't be bothered to simply throw you a quick recommendation. While the lovely lady at Sweat gave the appearance she was in a bad mood, she genuinely helpful, cracked the occasional smile and gave me some stellar recommendations (and actually got them for me off the shelf). Super-nice of her. Next time I'm in Miami, I'm spending more of my cash here. read more

This record store is the ultimate indie music store. You can either go to find that obscure CD you've been hunting for everywhere else or just browse around and find amazing music in any and every genre. They also have books, magazines, toys, vinyls and all kinds of crazy stuff. The staff is super friendly (even to someone like me who knows nothing about music) and will help you find whatever you need. First and foremost, the staff is great. I'll be more specific: Matt is a cool guy. I took a liking to Propaghandi and the second time I stepped inside, Matt remembered that. We even chatted about some noise projects and I ended seeing him at a show next door at Churchill's that same night. The vegan cupcakes are delicious. I like to have one every time I go. The reason I give Sweat 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their selection. If you're into indie, then this does not apply. Sweat is indie heaven - Sweat excels at providing an indie selection of music. I would like to see more variation, specifically black metal, noise, and local stuff (e.g. punk and hardcore punk - stuff from Pendejo Productions and Destroyio). read more

This the best record store in Miami for new and use vinyl. If there's something you want that's not in the store, they'll order it for you and it arrives in a few days. The loyalty program is great - get 1 point for each purchase over 10$ then get one free item up to 20$ after you collect 12 points. Aside from housing great music (not only cds, but vinyls and I think even tapes) Sweat hosts concerts, stand up comedy nights, poetry readings, movie nights, sunday morning pancake get togethers, etc. There is also an assortment of clothing, art, vegan- friendly food, packaged snacks, freshly baked snacks, tea, hot cocoa and coffee available for sale. Sweat is one of my favorite spots in Miami. Ideally, in a large urban environment like Miami, there would be a lot of places like Sweat, but there simply aren't. In the past two years, I've gone to the vegan brunch twice--excellent and inexpensive. I won tickets to see the people from Once perform. I've also attended like ten live music performances, and the cover ranged from $0 to $5. The employees and the regulars are always very cool. It reminds me a lot of Empire Records, except without the Gin Blossoms, and lots of young dweebs going through an identity crisis. I went here a while back and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Me and my boyfriend spent a long time perusing through all the records and enjoying a cup of cappuccino. The records were cheap and in good condition, we couldn't just buy one. If you want you can even test them out. The music that they play is not your normal Y100, so sit on the couch and enjoy the music while watching the fish in the fish tank or read a book. The owner was really nice and asked me if I liked the coffee. I told her of course and she told me she learned to make them by watching a video. This was awesome cause they tasted very good and they were presented nicely. I will definitely be back, but in the winter were I can enjoy my hot cup of coffee. read more

the people in this record shop are all so sweet and amazing. they have so much variety in genres and artists. the place is also super cute and i'm the overall energy feels welcoming and so warm. i met the staff today but it truly felt like we were best friends. been ordering my vinyls online but i'll try to get them more often from my local record shop now, told them i would be their number one customer and didn't lie. definitely coming back, if it was for me, i would go there everyday. You can get anything online these days, but nothing compares to actually going to a great place like this, finding unique things, being able to see and touch things before you buy it, and meeting great people into the same things you are into. So, I decided to change my Sweat Records yelp review because I feel I may have been too harsh on this little record store. Might I add, it's one of the few Miami has running. I really only visited Sweat a few times before writing that review, and they were mostly for small in-store events. The store's made a lot of improvements since then, though-- mainly the James L. Knight grant they received that potentially made a huge cultivation for the better. They have A/C now, which is AWESOME. And they're using their grant money to raise culture and arts in the Miami local scene. A huge factor in that was the 1st Annual (hopefully more) Sweatstock event which brought everyone together to listen to local live music as well as L.A. natives No Age. Good vibes from everyone. The importance of the independent record store in a community is pretty visible, at least in our locale. I was judging it more as a store in that last review, than as a potential landmark with the abilitiy to improve Miami's scene. It already has. As for the price of records, well people gotta make money. And there are certain things people have to sacrifice to make a business work. So, a store like this has to rely more on the community and its devotion than on sales. The store has a pretty okay selection. I'm sure as the years go on, they'll expand their stock. It's a progression, though, so I think it takes time. But they're more than happy to do special orders and you'll be surprised what you can get. I ordered a bunch of Zomby and dubstep records, which I'd probably have to dig through ebay to find. Thanks to Lolo, I only had to send and email and drive 30 mins to get it. Also, the potential implementation of an online store will improve the store ten-fold and most likely keep the store running at bay for years. The coffee is pretty okay. read more

I was so happy to have a chance to visit this place. It's right in the middle of Little Haiti, which is mostly full of small, independent Haitian & Caribbean restaurants and groceries. Sweat Records is an actual record shop so I didn't recognize it immediately (I was looking for a cafe) but once I was in, I loved the ambiance. The lady working behind the counter was really laid back and friendly and had some good recommendations for other vegan-friendly food in the area. As the vegan empanadas are the only savory item, that's pretty much what I got. The day I was in, they offered curry (lentils and potato, I believe), and spinach. Both were good but nothing to brag about. I don't think they had enough flavor to stand on their own but probably would have been really good with a sauce. I also picked up a container of Sweet and Sara chocolate biscotti, which I've never seen before (and I live in NY, where the company is based!). The biscotti was only $5 for the whole pack, which was a good deal. read more

I hate to say this, but the pretension in this place is disgusting. I feel like they're patting themselves on the back too, personality-wise, for being "female-owned" or operated or whatever. Gosh, such a turn-off. Who knows, maybe this is just typical record-store-employee behavior. Either way. Maybe I just hate it when people ask if they can "help" me or attempt to size me up or summarize my tastes and then one-up me. I won't go back. Trendy store primarily stocked with today's Pitchfork-approved™ indie rock vinyls with exception to a few noteworthy bins of more sought-after second-hand new wave, reggae, and hip-hop. (If you are looking for classic house or disco like I was, this place is absolutely bunk) The store's selection is very small, about 1,000 12"s and two/three hundred dollar-bin 7"s, yet well curated and maintained. While not necessarily expensive, saying any of the prices here are a bargain would be a lie. ($30 for an Alton Ellis 12" single at VG? Come on!) I came here for a day visit, but a friendly staff member told me about the store and shows happening, as the store frequently functions as an intimate venue. Brian Butler designed merchandise is definitely a huge plus, probably the best thing I found here as a non-local. This place would be fantastic if the vinyl selection was about 10 times more comprehensive. Regardless, I'm glad I got this Fela Kuti reissue! In regards to this place as a coffee shop: while the effort is appreciated, the espresso is watery and served in paper as opposed to porcelain. Yuck! read more

I went here yesterday and it really cool. The neighborhood is a little sketchy I would recommend parking in the back streets. But this record shop is really cool inside. They have new and old records and everything in between. The thing I really liked is that they have everything in alphabetical order and by genre. I found a bunch of rock, pop, and old school records. They have a section that has dollar records, you might find a steal in there. They also have a listening station but you can only listen to USED RECORDS!!! They also have a coffee bar with their own signature drinks. Not only do that have '12 records but '7 ones too. The workers are really nice and can help you find what you're looking for. If they don't have what you're looking for they can look it up for you. This record store has good vibes and records at good prices I will definitely be back. I would highly recommend 5/5 read more

1 star you say? Yes. I did not come on here to write a review to bash a place, but the girl who was working here earned the 1 single star all by herself. And I truly hope that she reads this review, as well as the rest of Miami. I had high expectations for this store, and had been looking forward to shopping here for the last two weeks. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to the store until 9:40pm, 20 minutes before closing time. That should be plenty of time to browse a few racks of records, right? Wrong. We were anything but welcomed when we walked into the store, receiving the "ugh' grunt from the girl working the register. We arrived at this establishment to spend money, and left with the feeling of never wanting to return. It began when my girlfriend ordered a coffee as we arrived, and the girl hesitated by saying "Well, I'm cleaning the coffee machine". You have a bright neon sign in the window advertising that you sell coffee...Do you think they say that at Starbucks? I get it, you don't like your job, but you just lost the store potential REGULAR customers. Nobody MADE you work there. You CHOSE to work at this record store. If I had a dollar for every time I stayed 1 minute past my shift at a job, I'd be a very, extremely wealthy man. Around 10pm, the "girl" and some man who seemed like the "owner" or "manager" of the store were making snarky remarks about it being 10pm, and I glanced their way as they said "oh, no we're not talking about you" Ok. Sure. I got the hint that it was 10pm, and I was just fiddling through a few more rows of Vinyl, while my friend was purchasing something at the same time, mind you...When the clock ticked to 10:05pm, I was approached by "the girl" who asked, "Have you found anything yet?" to which I replied, "Not yet, but I'm almost finished." Her reply "Well, it's 10:05pm and we've been closed for 5 minutes"....I quickly remarked "I get it, it's 5 minutes past your shift and you're ready to go home." I couldn't believe the complete lack of hospitality. I've been in the hospitality industry for the better part of a decade, so I can be a bit critical, but she broke every single rule. Look, I understand that it's 5 minutes past your shift, but I informed you that I was leaving, and 2/3 of us had already spent money in the store. Let me explain something to those who don't understand...This is a VINYL aka RECORD store. How many Record stores do you think actually still exist these days? Hardly any. If I was running a niche business like this, I would be doing anything to make sure I grab a sale, especially when there was an LP priced at $35 that I was nearly going to buy. It's your mistake though, because what you don't realize is that I'm highly involved in the Music Industry in Miami, and am devoted to the resurgence of Vinyl. But, you chose to treat me like a stray dog begging for a cheeseburger. On that note, I thank you Ms. Sweat Records Clerk girl, for saving me $35 and making me realize that I will spend my money elsewhere. Also, pretentious store clerks like yourself are the reason that niche stores that sell old Vinyl records are few and far between now. I guess I will keep spending my money online, and eventually your business will no longer be a business, so you won't have to work the job you clearly don't enjoy being at. Because that's what the world is coming to, as I sit in front of my computer typing this review while purchasing that Record online that I was going to buy at your store. the best place to get music in miami. hard to find stuff, vinyls, etc. they're currently closed because they're busy moving into their 3rd location (i believe). sweat was located for awhile in the back of churchill's and i think they're moving somewhere still pretty close by on 2nd. when they're up and running, sweat is an absolute must! in addition to having amazing music, they support local artists which is always a great thing.
