I am very glad that Miami supports a place like this. Nice selection of alternative/indie CD's and Vinyls that are otherwise hard to find down here, and I can't wait to try some of the coffee shop treats or come out to one of the events. This is my local record store.. almost walking distance. They have a big selection of new vinyl and cds.. and I usually get all my new releases here. The prices are in par or even lower than Amazon. Their used record selection is a work in progress, but I have found some great gems from Chris and Cosey to Mother's Of Invention.. all with a decent price. Staff is awesome and they do an amazing job in supporting local artist (especially with their web site). They also have the best non-Cuban espresso in town.... crack in a cup. read more

Another hidden gem in Little Haiti. Great low-key atmosphere; perfect place to browse tons of music (mostly vinyl), while sipping on a cup of freshly brewed Joe (oh, they can get all fancy mocha-latte on ya' too). Maybe buy some of there many random brika-bracks to pointlessly adorn your night stand or just cruise in for a longer stay when any one of there monthly events pops off. Sweat records offers so much more than just records and CDs. In addition to all the snacks and drinks in the store being VEGAN, they also throw events. They often have shows with local bands and musicians, and every few months they throw a "vegan waffle party," which is the best party you'll ever go to if you're a hipster with an obsession for waffles. They also have meetings, and there is a real nice sense of community as soon as you walk in. Its definitely one of my favorite spots in all of Miami, and is a place everyone should check out at least once :) read more

If you come from a town with any type of indie, metal, hardcore, or punk music scene you'll be sourly disappointed at this miami "institution." If your from miami, apparently this place is the sweetest spot in the city. I've lived here a few months and as far as record stores go I think this is the best your gonna find in the area. Small selection, friendly staff, a handful of hipster kitsch, and the cashier doubles as a barista if you want some coffee with your new albums. Despite being reminded of the sorry state of the local music scene whenever I visit, its nice to find a little oasis of independence in this town. nice store.... but the people working there are huge music snobs, they seem to work there only to feel superior to their customers....which is kind of stereotypical... maybe if they didn't try so hard to seem cool.... That being said they do have a decent amount of records. But their treatment was terrible. I will try to find another place next time. read more

Sweat will always be one of the first places i bring my friends visiting from out of town. With the best cupcakes i've ever had (vegan to boot), a nice coffee/tea selection, and some great artwork/posters adorning the walls, Sweat pretty much oozes cool. They have a nice selection of CD's but honestly, i hardly look. If your into contemporary indie LPs then you'll have lots to choose from here. Their other genre selections aren't as plentiful but usually have a few gems to offer. There are also some rad books/journals/toys etc. Hope that Matt P. is working that day because he's especially helpful and insightful. If you're looking for a taste of the local music: He's your go to guy, and sweat is generous in local fare. Lolo and Jason are the lifeline of most of the great events, and i'd recommend any in store event. Sweat isn't a 5 just yet, but is well on its way and one of Miami's cultural gems. As a hipster slash local cultural hang-out, it's fine. As a record store - not. Selection is very limited, especially in used bins. And when I saw Beatles 65 and Led Zep IV at 40 bucks a pop I just left. For a record buyer/collector there are much better alternatives in Miami, unless coffee and the word "like" every 10 seconds is a necessity for you Stuff is very friendly. read more

A great little gem in an otherwise dismal neighborhood. A good place if you're looking for vinyls, cd's, t-shirts, books, and posters. This place is also a hip hangout of sorts where you can play board games and listen to music. They also hold events here like book readings and musical acts on certain nights. You can also grab a small bight to eat as they offer an assortment of different vegan treats and coffee. This kind of place is a rarity in this digital age so give them your support. read more

Yes! I always walk out of this record store with something...whether it be a record, cassete, coffee, or ellated after seeing a show. It's a great place to vibe, hangout, or pregame before a Churchills show. I only wish that the prices were a little lower and for it to be a little bigger but just like in the words of Mick jagger.... " You can't always get what you want". read more

The staff does not wash it's hands before returning to work... couldn't find proper signage rofl. small shop with ginger soda (the one with chunks) ... well worth searchin thru. Found fl electro break cheap... but there wass only 1 (one), and I bought it... so iz there 0 (zero) of the genre I want at Sweat now? I'll be back to find out fo sho! read more

I'm here to discuss everything but the records. This place has always been reliable as a community player and I can feel part of something when I walk in there. The food and drink they sell on the side at the counter is delicious, they have knowledgeable staff and surprisingly not snobby which is something I usually find in a record store. It's all holistically nice and welcoming. Show support by buying something there, and they'll give back to Miami tenfold. read more
