Such a great spot I really loved how thoughtful and knowledgeable the instructor was. I'm new to yoga and she helped correct my postures and made me feel great about the entire experience will definitely be back!

This place, I don't want go back again ever! My friend just got Covid, she does not know she has Covid when she booked class. She take responsible do not come to the studio. when she got her test result, first thing, she called this studio to cancel her next class. But studio said they will cost her $20 for late cancellation, they balm her if feel sick should not book the class, she said, she does not have symptom, she has no idea she has Covid. She asked how could she save the $20? Then, studio said, that up to you, you can come save $20 or pay $20 for late cancelation. Wtf, it's unbelievable!

They stock nice gears inside of the studio

I have been enjoying going to this yoga studio quite some times now! Especially this winter when the weather is cold and raining, I really don't want to go to the gym. This sweat yoga studio is warm and calm where you can do yoga and meditate. This yoga studio saved my workout routine! The instructors are amazing and studio is clean and welcoming. I find the flow of their movements is intuitive and easy to flow. I practiced yoga many years ago but then stopped. With their help, I got right back where I left off! I like my routine these days: evening classes where you can sweat and yoga - go home to shower right after - then sleep.

The classes are perfectly timed and manicured for a true yoga experience rather than just a fitness class, you still get an intense workout that will rival the others. The real magic happens when they host a community potluck. There is nothing quite like sweating through a class and immediately bonding with a room full of people over who brought the best snack. Between the genuinely friendly team, the fantastic classes, and the promise of future snacks, it is impossible not to love this place.

Friendly staff are present if you need anything. The Class/Teacher (Shiva Flow at 12:30 p.m.): After a morning job, slipping into this midday class was an absolute treat! Michelle May personally welcomed me, made sure I had a tour, brought blocks and a strap to my mat, and introduced herself before we began. We started in Easy Pose, where she opened with philosophy on tapas, the internal fire we step into to burn away what no longer serves. She guided us to notice the breath, then the mind, simply observing. Three collective Oms to connect the room. And then we were off...halfway through Sun B, I realized there was no music, just Michelle's voice and the sound of the room breathing together. It was that powerful. This was a strong, continuous flow with options for Crow, Flying Crow, Flying Splits, and creative transitions, such as Tree to Extended Standing Split and Half Moon to Warrior 3 and back again. Michelle continually reminded us to tap into the fire, breathe, and let go. It was that "non-stop, can't stop, don't want to stop, ahhhh, feels so good" kind of yoga. When we finally came down to the mat, she offered hands on adjustments. In reclined Eagle, she anchored my shoulder and gently guided my crossed knees toward the floor (serious Divine release!). We closed the same way we began, seated, noticing the breath, noticing the mind, three collective Oms. This class was FIRE, but conscious fire. Practical Notes: Free parking lot across the street designated for Shiva Yoga Complimentary tea and water station Self check-in system Infrared sauna room Changing rooms and bathroom Cubbies inside the yoga room Friendly, welcoming staff After Effects: I left feeling calmer, clearer, lighter, and very curious about their Power Yoga class. If this was Shiva Flow, I can only imagine . Such an afternoon gift. I will be back!

Aside from their yoga classes I went to one of Hyperslow's other events for the first time recently, the Full Moon Ceremony they had at the beginning of March led by Asher. It was unlike any thing else I had experienced! The breath-work was intense as was the sound experience created by the four Hyperslow instructors venturing in and out of the corners of the room between singing bowls and gongs. From the moment I walked in, Payton at the front desk made me feel so welcome. She was kind, warm, and made what could have been an intimidating experience feel comfortable. Unfortunately, during class I started feeling lightheaded and my ears began ringing. I was embarrassed and honestly felt defeated. I ended up stepping out because I knew I needed to listen to my body. Instead of feeling judged, I was met with so much kindness and support. A gentleman outside gave me water with electrolytes and reminded me of something I really needed to hear: that I should be proud of myself for showing up. It was my first class in a long time, and he helped me remember that taking the first step is an accomplishment in itself. What stands out most about North Ray Yoga isn't just the workout--it's the people. The kindness, patience, and encouragement I received turned what could have been an embarrassing experience into one that left me feeling supported and motivated to come back. The irony of them being in charge of a yoga business is not lost on me. As for any people thinking of joining this studio. You are and will be FINANCIAL PREY as long as you interact with this business. That said, the front desk staff and teachers and individual studio managers are amazing and deserve way more appreciation than they get, and maybe it's time for them to really think hard about that. The new people in corporate will lie, reneg on promises made, and make fraudulent charges with no hesitation in doing so. They agreed to a certain rate for my membership, and although it was never discussed or agreed upon, they downgraded my membership tier without ever disclosing it. I have emails that back this up. However, this isn't one instance. Since the new corporate team has moved in, I have had several charges added to my account that I didn't agree to, I've spoken to people who have experienced the same, and the corporate staff hide behind the people working at the front desk, leaving those workers to deal with clients angered about it because they are too cowardly to answer for their own actions. I cannot in good faith recommend this studio to anyone, and I've been a member since 2014 (which means nothing to them). The new corporate team came in only recently. I suggest everyone here vote with their dollars, which are becoming more and more precious in this economy. Stay conscious in who you offer your money to, and stay aligned with your personal integrity, because this studio has none, in my opinion.

The Vibe: A Deep Exhale…read more The message begins outside with a giant reminder: BREATHE. Enough said, right? As soon as I walked in, MJ welcomed me & gave me a tour of the space. As we walked through the studio, we ran into our guide, Joe Kara. Meeting your yoga teacher before class is such a treat, and Joe was just as kind, welcoming, & grounded as MJ. The Guide: Joe Kara's Urban Flow 60 We began seated, grounding into the Earth and connecting with our ujjayi breath before moving through Surya Namaskar to gradually awaken the body. The class unfolded into a beautiful, steady vinyasa flow , one breath, one movement at a time. Joe's music was intentionally lyric-free: down-tempo electronic tracks. Songs like You Wish by Nightmares on Wax carried the practice forward, matching the rhythm of his calm, steady voice. As Joe moved quietly throughout the room, he read the energy of his students. His cues invited us to deepen through breath, alignment, & awareness. With permission, I received two assists during class. The first was in Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose, helping my body soften deeply into the fold. We played with rolling side-to-side in Parsva Dhanurasana (Side Bow Pose), which was new for me and had me feeling it in all sorts of places. Before I knew it, we were in savasana, where I received my second assist: A gentle grounding of my shoulders into the floor. It felt like I was melting into the Earth () We closed seated, observing the quality of our breath, the quality of our mind, & the quality of our spirit before Joe thanked us for sharing our energy, time, & presence with him on our beautiful Sunday morning. Ahhhh, yoga really is that sweet. The Tribe: Moving Together, Exploring Individually There was a nice collective rhythm in the room. We moved together breath by breath, yet Joe created plenty of opportunities to explore our own practice. Want to play with Crow to Headstand, handstands, or forearm stands? Explore. Prefer to stay with the back-bending sequence and his steady guidance? It's all good. That freedom to challenge yourself or honor exactly where you are is one of the things I love about yoga. The Space & Place: Industrial Calm & Simplicity Urban 728 is an unassuming little hidden treasure in Los Angeles. The exterior is modern and minimalist, with a giant BREATHE mural, a threshold between the outside world and the practice waiting inside. Inside, the space feels open, airy, and simple: Clean lines, natural light, polished concrete floors, warm wood details, and a fun retail area (I indulged ). The yoga room itself is spacious and beautiful, with dark wood floors, high ceilings, white walls, and plenty of room to move and breathe. Practical Notes - Parking: Free parking lot. Amenities: Private showers, restrooms, & plenty of amenities. Heat: Warm, but not hot. I came away with a light sweat (a shower is optional - I chose to simply change clothes). Good to Know: From MJ's thoughtful tour to Joe's welcoming presence and mindful assists, there was a genuine sense of care throughout the entire experience. The Sum-Up: A giant wall says BREATHE before you enter. Joe spends the next 60 minutes guiding you back to it. And by the end, you simply feel better.

Edit: most positive reviews seem to be about yoga, which I was not aware happened at this location…read more It's a gym with no workout rooms, primarily devoted to personal training, so there may be some mix up. ** Negative parts of this are virtually all for Jason (the owner). I hope in sharing it'll help other people avoid what I experienced. With the exception of Jason, the trainers I worked with here are excellent overall. Devin has so much light in him, and his energy really holds up the corners of this place. I hope he finds a working situation that better supports and nurtures all he has to offer. Iman was great as well, but because this place is patriarchal and has deference to masculine baked in, there were instances in which I saw her feel the need to defer to Jason, which was symptomatic of outdated leadership approaches and an unhealthy work environment. The effects of that misogyny showed through other women there as well, particularly younger women who were in admin or nutrition (and in male-presenting clients with more fem energy). Didn't see it in the seasoned fem trainers. Russell is fun and knowledgable, but I overheard him shit-talking clients on more than one occasion. Matt is further down meathead spectrum, so there was more obliviousness/negligence showing through, but knowledgable about his work. But Jason was negligent outright . His behavior resulted in injury I'm still dealing with ~7 months later, and he wasn't mature or professional enough to simply take responsibility for what he'd done. I went here because I saw the Vanity Fair video that talked about how they help people clean up injuries. I have a back injury from like ~10 years ago that I really wanted to correct, and a more recent shoulder injury, and was very relieved to learn Rise could help. In maybe 3 months of 3ish sessions per week, my back injury seemed to be healed! I was ecstatic. ...but then I ended up with Jason as my trainer 3 times in one week. He was consistently late, eating/doing other stuff that made him distracted, had a kinda negligent vibe. Probably not the way he behaves when working with Jennifer Aniston or whoever, and not behavior I imagine he'd tolerate in a trainer he hired. That Monday, he pushed too hard with his hands when he had me doing a side plank, and it messed up my back again. Wednesday, when I had him as a trainer again, I told him about this. Friday he had "forgotten," so I had to tell him again. But the damage was done. My back was fucked up. Everybody messes up. It's not great when your preventable mistake comes from not being attentive/good at your job. It's worse when that mistake physically injures a human being...especially when those effects are long-lasting. If Jason could've acknowledged what happened and apologized for it, okay. But he kept "forgetting" about it. Then he tried to tell me that I wouldn't get better if I wasn't doing the exercises I did there every day at home....though 3 days a week at their location had gotten my back healthy before, and I had explicitly asked multiple trainers if 3 days a week of training there was a good amount. All said yes. Jason was trying to cover his ass and sidestep responsibility. He later tried to refer me to a back expert or something, acting like the cause of the re-injury was a mystery. So yeah, don't go to Jason. There's narcissism in him, and he may cause you months-long physical pain because he isn't paying attention, and then play it like he has no idea what he did even as you repeatedly speak up about the damage he caused.

I had an appointment at the salon next door. Told him I was late and needed to let stylist know I was here and ask if they wanted me to move car or have one of their assistants do it. Went back outside to move my car. As I walked back into salon... he came back outside and said... "Good little girl," while clapping slowly. And followed with, "Go inside and get your hair fixed. Interesting that he seems to have a steady stream of clients coming in and out of his gym... As we are in the middle of a pandemic and gyms are still closed.
