Would have given a 5 star review based on my experience with this practice but his help in the past few days has been over and above the call of duty. Not too long ago my father died and it became clear that my mother has Alzheimer's and had to be placed in a home. On December 22rd she broke a tooth in one of her dentures - a front tooth - and was very embarrassed about this and very upset about it particularly going into the holiday. Although she wasn't a patient of Dr. Silver's, his office got her in right away and got the denture repaired and returned to her by the 23rd - even though his office wasn't open on the 23rd. A wonderful member of his staff even went to her nursing home at one point. She was so relieved to have that fixed - saved Christmas for her. You really can't ask for more.

Besides the biannual cleanings, we both have had our wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Squilla (or Dr. Dan as he congenially has folks refer to him by). He's a fit, attractive gentleman in his late 30's, early 40's and is the utmost professional. (I mention his appearance solely because he's pleasant to gaze upon while experiencing a perhaps not-so pleasant experience!) One of the benefits of a smaller, locally owned office is that there is typically a low turn-over. I have had the same dental hygienist the whole time I have been with Dr. Dan. My hubby's gums are extremely sensitive and the dental hygienist has mastered the art of cleaning his teeth without making him feel like he's been placed on some medieval torture chamber. The office staff is excellent at reminding you of your appointments: you receive a postcard several weeks prior, and then a phone call a few days before. They accept most forms of insurance, and will work with you if you don't have insurance and need to implement a payment plan. The office is in a beautiful historic house and there is always on-street parking in front. I would recommend Dr. Dan and his staff without reservation.

Meeting with the Dentist went well, accompanied by a DA. He seemed to think I needed a filling - which the hygienist never mentioned. We seemed to jump the gun and just go for it, I was never able to see before and after.

I am a single mom of 3 and at the time I lived in greece, & driving to the office in chili with 3 small kids / one with autism, was not always easy....well after exactly 3 late appointments we were dropped. Completely dropped from the office. I mean I understand rules but just very disappointed with how insensitive the workers were and it ended up being a negative experience. I really wanted to like the office itself but it seemed the people there were just not the friendliest, and obviously it wasn't a fit for a working / single mom with three kids. ‍

Upon entering, my son was able to run directly to a play area with a wide variety of toys while I checked in for the appointment. Within five minutes, we were brought back to a spacious room where the dental assistant explained all of the equipment and parts of the visit to my son. The hygienist put fluoride on his teeth (his flavor choice), he saw the dentist, and got to pick out a toothbrush. At the end, he got a coin to use on the "prize tower", and walked away from the visit very happy. I should also mention that I had a baby with me, who had a blowout and wanted to eat while we were there... and I was able to change and feed her with ease. I highly recommend this office!!!

Dr. Pitcher didn't make us feel like bad parents and took great care of our son. She and her staff did such a great job with that procedure it was an easy choice to keep bringing both boys to her. They've never been afraid of going in for an appointment, I can't recommend this pediatric dentist highly enough!

I understand we could have checked on our own, but she didn't think of that and it's our backwards healthcare system in this country that is mostly to blame. But GOOD providers are proactive in telling new patients if they are in-network or out-of-network as soon as you provide insurance prior to visit. When I paid the bill I suggested they do this every time. (Maybe they are, but forgot in this instance.) We pay for dental insurance and it would have been free in-network, but we paid $177 for a cleaning (insurance picked up $132 of the bill only) for out-of-network.

She stated she didn't see anything on the x-rays that were a concern she stated "everything looks good ".  Dr. Merkley came in shortly afterwards and sat down towards the back of my head, not in front of me so I could see him, I had to turn around in the dental chair to shake his hand. Very rude I thought, why not wheel his chair in front of me to face me when speaking to me, but he never did. He then proceeded to ask Marlene how the x-rays looked, again she stated everything looked good. He asked me why I was there, I explained my pain initially started on the bottom left but moved to the upper right. I told him the night before I bent over and felt a pop in my nose and my right ear, he automatically said it's a sinus infection.  He never checked the teeth I was complaining about. My old dentist would blow air or water to try and get a reaction,  he did absolutely nothing.  He then proceeded to count my teeth and was telling Marlene numbers and I believe if they were crowns or implants,  he said ok nice to meet you and I said do I still use the orajel? He said no  your teeth are sensitive. He then left the room, he was in there less than 2 minutes,  he did not perform an oral exam, he never checked what teeth were bothering me, and how could I have a sinus infection and then have sensitive teeth? I paid my bill, left and hoped the pain would go away, I went and bought sensitive toothpaste but by Friday I was in so much pain I was taking 4 advil every 4-5 hours. I called my primary and was given an appointment for Monday March 13th at 9 am. The nurse practitioner checked my head and sinuses and nothing hurt, she did not believe it was a sinus infection.  She was nice enough to give me lidocaine for my mouth and a prednisone pack if there was any inflammation.  At this point I am livid because I paid Dr. Merkley $368.00 dollars and he did absolutely nothing for me. I called the office and spoke with Danielle and explained to her why I was upset, I don't think he should be asking a hygienist if there is anything wrong and it was also wrong that he never checked the teeth I was complaining about. Danielle called me back a couple hours later after speaking to Dr. Merkley and Marlene,  the new story I was given by Danielle told by Marlene and Dr. Merkley is that he spoke to me about tmj and grinding my teeth, I laughed and said that was a complete LIE, none of that was ever mentioned to me, she then proceeded to tell me that they also said he could see my sinus cavity on the x-ray and that is why he mentioned a sinus infection. So did I have a sinus infection or sensitive teeth?? Because he stated both issues.  My teeth aren't sensitive to hot, cold or sweets so how he came to that conclusion I would love to know, because he definitely didn't test my teeth to find out. Now I have to pay another dentist to get a proper exam. I truly believe Dr. Merkley totally scammed me, he did not provide an oral exam and made his decision based off the fact that I stated my nose and ear popped the night before.   Sincerely,   Tina Benge
