I would not advise anyone to bring their children to this orthodontist. I saw Dr. Winslow all…read morethrough my childhood until I was 20 years old. He put me through traumatic experiences growing up - was so rough, yelled at me for crying, never explained what he was doing, and truly had no compassion for a child experiencing extreme pain. As I got older, he started to make comments that made me uncomfortable and touched me (rubbed my shoulders) in a way that was very inappropriate. I finally switched dentists (my parents made me go to him growing up) and I still have anxiety going to dentist appointments but my new orthodontist has been wonderful and helps me work through this trauma. DO NOT bring your children to this man.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my daughter who, like many other children, has had some…read moreanxieties in the past about going to the dentist. We have worked with her for years to gain her trust and lessen those fears. This was only her 3rd time there I believe. We switched her to this practice because of those fears. We thought a pediatric dentist would be the best fit over a family dentist since it's all kids, all day. My daughter was very nervous on the drive to the appointment because she had a loose baby tooth that needed to come out but it was being stubborn. I explained to her that if something needed to be done with it, we would talk to Dr. Winslow about it, but ultimately we would listen to his advice about it because he is the doctor. She was going for a cleaning which went well, the hygienist was very sweet and gentle with her. When her cleaning was finished, Dr. Winslow walked over to have a look at her teeth. I was in the waiting room with her little brother and could only see her legs from where I was. Dr. Winslow looked at her for less than a minute, didn't speak a word to her, and then I heard her screaming. I jumped up and went to check on her to see her mouth full of blood, her face all red, she was shaking and crying. She got a little loud with her crying and was trying to pull his hand away from her mouth while he was putting cotton in, so he decided to raise his voice at her and told her "NO! NOW STOP IT! STOP! NO!". He didn't tell her what he was doing, she thought he was going to hurt her again. But he thought yelling at my child was the way to handle it rather than just saying to her that he was going to put cotton on to help. He obviously doesn't think children have the right to bodily autonomy and that she didn't need to be warned or understand what he was doing or why. I know the tooth needed to come out, that's not the issue. But he did not discuss it with my daughter, nor did he discuss it with me, her parent. He just did it. And reversed years of me convincing her that the dentist isn't scary.

When I called the office to find out what happened, I learned that the cancellation was made without any valid reason. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable dental care for their kids.

Our experience at this office has been very disappointing. Appointments consistently felt rushed,…read morebut our most recent visit was especially concerning. After my daughter had a crown placed, she developed an abscess and ultimately needed the tooth extracted. During the procedure, she was given novocaine and was in significant pain from the injections--she was crying, screaming, and clearly terrified. When the dentist returned to continue, she instinctively grabbed his hand out of fear and said she "couldn't breathe." Instead of offering reassurance, he responded sternly "let go of my hands" and continued the procedure without addressing her distress. As her parent, it was very difficult to watch. I had to step in and remind him that she is only 7 years old and was experiencing something frightening and overwhelming. There was little effort made to comfort or calm her, and the interaction felt rushed and lacking compassion. While the front desk staff and dental hygienists have always been kind and professional, this experience with the dentist was upsetting enough that we will be transferring care elsewhere. I hope this feedback encourages a more patient, empathetic approach--especially when treating young children.

This was a new patient visit so I thought Dr. Connors would be in his most friendly mode, but he basically looked around, and referred me out to a perio (which I really didn't like...ROC Perio), and was pretty unengaging personally. I'm very good about getting a cleaning every 3 months (switching between perio and general), and when I tried to schedule a cleaning with East Ave Dentistry for six months away I was told there were no available appointments. So basically this practice which did nothing on the first visit except refer me out, was telling me that in six months there were no appointments available for them to attend to my dental health. This told me this practice was either understaffed or oversubscribed, either meant it wasn't a practice whose primary focus was to be sure they could meet their patients dental health needs. I very happily found Elmwood Dental which is able to see me every three months to provide cleanings, and keeps me in-house unless I need to see a specialist, and everyone there is so friendly it's a pleasure to see them.
