Never had such a strange experience. We thought it was closed before walking in but hours said open so we gave it a chance. Walked in, most of the cases were empty and ice cream was also mostly empty--they clarified that they were just opening and getting things ready, that was fine. The girl at the register couldn't answer any of our questions about what was available- and- when we asked for black coffee she said she couldn't make it lol... This Bakery is in Davie FL, which is completely out of the way, so it was definitely a trip to get here but it was worth it. I had a friend in town who was staying near Davie; she visited the bakery while she was in town and insisted that I do the same. I ordered two donuts and the Toffee Crunch cake slice. First off the cake was my favorite, a milk chocolate icing with a whipped white chocolate filling that was to die for; if I remember correctly the filling had Heath bars pieces in it. The cake had so much structural integrity yet it was so moist. As for the donuts, disclaimer I am not a donut person so It usually takes a lot for me to be in love with a donut. The donuts were high quality and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who likes donuts. The set up of the bakery was nice; very clean, organized and cute decor. I happy opportunity of speaking with the bakery owner, she gave me detail about the bakery and the products and I'm so happy I'm able to support her business. Everything is made from scratch and there were so many other products I saw that I wanted to try but I could only eat so much. As with many shops on Davie Road, the outside of the place looks old fashioned, but it is immaculately maintained. The inside is clean and smells wonderful. The service staff is exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. Most important- the taste... Today the cookies and donuts are gourmet and perfect is a vast understatement. After searching through Yelp, Instagram, and Facebook, I wasn't able to find a menu, so I decided to show up. This newly opened location is very spacious -- there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Upon walking in, I was greeted by an employee and quickly browsed through the donuts and cakes on display. However, there was still no menu in sight. As a result, I had to ask the employee about each donut, what was in it, etc. I ended up ordering their colatta crazy (pineapple coconut) and dragon's blood donuts. To my surprise, my total came to about $11 without tip, which is over $5 per donut. For that price, these donuts should've been the best artisanal donut in SoFlo, but they fell short of my expectations. Although slightly larger than a normal donut, they aren't as large/thick as Salty Donut. The dragon's blood donut tasted like a regular glazed donut, just with some pieces of fruit on top. The colatta crazy was beautifully decorated with a glitter cherry and umbrella, but the pineapple coconut cream wasn't very flavorful. Although the employees were all super kind and helpful, I can't justify spending $5 on an average donut. Hopefully, they improve from their current selection and are transparent with their costs/ingredients by providing a menu. read more

So there has been some buzz about these delicious donuts lately. I heard about it from a few different friends and decided it would be a GREAT idea to visit it on National Donut Day! I got there before 11am and there was a line around the building already. But keep in mind, that due to covid, the line may look long but there's really not "that" many people in front of you. While I waited for maybe 1/2 an hour outside, the chef as well as his partners made sure we were good. They came out to talk to us and offered cold drinks. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy . Thank you for caring! When I got into the establishment, I knew... I was going to either just choose 1 donut. OR choose them all! The indecisive me won over and I walked out with a dozen plus donuts for whom to share it with to be determined. I have to say, I tried probably 8 different flavors and all were very yummy. My favorite had to have been the maple bacon one. Or the Samoa. A tie really. But man oh man... before I left with my loot, I almost forgot! They sold breakfast donut sammies!!! So I ordered an egg/sausage/cheese donut sammy. Bc what the hell?!?! Why not? And it truly did hit the spot. I would highly recommend you try it. I have a HUGE sweet tooth and when my sister told me to run, not walk to go get these donuts, I listened. I sent my husband the first time about 4 weeks ago right before closing and got our first box of heaven. I kid you not, these donuts are out of this world. When you make your basic glazed donut more delicious then any other donut you've ever had, you know you got a winner. The first batch consisted of their O.G, Cinnamon Sugar, Hibiscus Blueberry, Banana Fritter (with actual banana chunks baked in it), Alchemy Cream "Pie", and a special Vegan chocolate donut. The second weekend, we indulged in their O.G, Funfetti, Banana Fritter, Mango + Ginger + Macadamia, Pistachio Rose, and their Baked Samoa The third weekend, my sister showed up with a DOZEN of these amazing donuts. The boxed contained, their most amazing donut yet, their Maple + Bacon + Coffee. Wow, just wow. This donut is absolutely mouth watering!!! That coffee infused icing is worth every calorie. I could eat a box of this, their O.G, and Banana Fritter without blinking once! I'm seriously going to cry when this little Pop-up is over. For now, we are taking full advantage of Chef Max Santiago's delicious treats. He knows what he's doing and I'm all for it. Definitely check them out before they move on, it is worth it! Thank goodness this bakery was open on a Sunday afternoon when a sweet craving hit me. Happy we found them! We had the buttermilk glazed donut and the maple bacon donut. Both were fantastic! When the donuts and cappuccinos we ordered were brought to our table with a yummy surprise. They gave us 2 free cookies to try. A double chocolate chip cookie and a pumpkin cookie with cream cheese frosting. The chocolate chip cookie had a wonderful sprinkling of sea salt that cut the sweetness a little and gave the cookie a nice crunch. The pumpkin cookie had tasty combination of spices and wasn't overly sweet. Both cookies were excellent. An employee was being trained on making milkshakes while we were there. This place really surprised me. I got here around 3pm and most of the donut flavors were sold out. I ended up getting the Rum Bacon donuts and I think the other flavor was Guava. They both tasted great. I'd get the guava again. I also ordered the Gluten Free Rocky Road Brownie which tastes better than a traditional brownie! It has a lot of different textures with the pecans, fudge, chocolate chunks, and marshmallows. The carrot cake was also a delightful surprise. Driving by I saw their sign- I'm always happy to support a new bakery especially a small business owner. Behind their glass case were supe-sized pies and cakes that you can order by the slice or buy the whole thing! The selection looked beautiful and tasted even better! I consider myself a donut junkie. Long gone are the days that I can happily walk into a Dunkin and order a dozen to enjoy. Once you have tried "gourmet" donuts and specialty donuts, you are spoiled for life. I caught wind of the buzz for Sweet Alchemy Confectionary and had to try it myself. It is operating out of the Flashback Diner (with plans to open in the former Wendy's next door sometime in the future). They are only open Friday - Sunday until they sell out, which does happen. If you wait to miss the line, you also may miss the donuts. The donut varieties are constantly changing, and that helps keep your interest in returning. They post the menu on the door, but because there has been a social distance line to get in due to the pandemic, you might not see it for 30 minutes or more after your arrival. They don't tell you what's sold out until you get inside. You will have to tune in to their social media pages to see the week's menu and I recommend calling while in line before you wait to see if anything is close to sold out. I waited only to be disappointed they didn't have the donut my heart was set on. I had to go two weeks in a row to grab a funfetti because my daughters were dying to try it. Max Santiago is a talented and creative chef and he approaches donut making like an art form. From that standpoint, they are remarkable and a must try. Getting one of these donuts feels like a luxury and it is nice to spoil yourself. The downside is the price tag also makes them feel like a luxury. They cost between $3 for a plain glazed (the OG) and up to $6 for the fancier varieties. You're legitimately looking at spending between $40 -$50 if you want to buy a dozen, and I will tell you the way they look draw you in to wanting to try each one. My favorite is the OG. Most of the fancy varieties are delicious, but IMO they look like a 10 and taste like a 7. The breakfast sandwiches are bonkers. Literally melt in your mouth good with perfectly crisped bacon. These look like a 10 and taste like a 12. I could live off these, but again, this decadence isn't coming cheap. I recommend this place for going and grabbing a sandwich, or surprising your kids and/or significant other for a treat. The prices will have to come down for me to be a regular, and I'm not sure how long they will last in Davie once the hype fades. read more

My cookie was still soft 3 days later! It was almost closing time when my husband and I walked in to grab some donuts before heading to a kids bday party on a Saturday. The place was empty and the owner walked up expressing that she didn't have much of anything left. I explained to her that I was going to a kids bday party and I just wanted a dozen of whatever she had left. I left with 5 boxes of donuts and was given a 10% off discount. It was well over a dozen and everything we tried was outstanding! The Hot Cinnamon Sugar donut, the trail mix cookie and the chocolate chip walnut were the items I kept for myself and everything was a solid 10/10! I couldn't stop thanking her and we got to chatting about her business and her baking process. Everything is made fresh everyday and everything that is leftover she donates to nearby restaurants or the police or fire station, what a lady! . I was so very impressed with this establishment as far as quality products and excellent customer service. I believe the chefs name is Kimberly and I apologize if I am mistaken. Walking in I noticed a humble display of a few beautiful cakes, pies, cookies, and doughnuts as well as a glass wall with a full kitchen view of the bakery elves in action. The bakery is quite large with plenty of seating and parking out front. It's located next to the flashback diner. The chef immediately greeted me warmly and she had so much enthusiasm with explaining to me the flavors and processes of her amazing creations. She is extremely thoughtful in how she she develops her recipes and it shows in the small details within her desserts. The pie crusts are lined with different milk, white, and dark chocolate coatings to ensure a crisp and flavorful crust with every bite. The doughnut I purchased was filled with pure Nutella with no fillers (which is a rare find as bakeries tend to mix fillings to cut costs) the topping wasn't a standard Oreo crumb but that delicious cake crunch I believe to be found in the middle of those ice cream cakes (which is absolutely out of this world). The cookie was super moist comparable to an almost raw cookie dough taste. I've never had a cookie with that texture before and I thoroughly adored every single bite. It was studded with small chocolate chips and topped with a very high quality chocolate layer. That cookie also had the perfect touch of sea salt to complement the sweetness with a perfect balance. I hope the recipes never change. And the only caveat I can find with this spot is the limited hours. If they were open longer than weekends I'd be a daily addict.
