Our teacher was fantastic -- informative, patient, encouraging, and always so helpful. We learned essential cooking techniques, kitchen basics, and so many delicious recipes that I'll continue making at home. The class itself was equally special because we had such a great group of students and truly enjoyed learning and cooking together each week. I will genuinely miss this class and look forward to taking more classes at LA Cooking School in the future. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their cooking skills in a fun and welcoming environment!

Five days later and no contact from Pam. I was so excited to take my mister to their Father's Day class. We're empty nesters and this was meant to be a special treat for both of us. He's not big on cooking classes but the posted menu was appealing and I promised to do all the heavy lifting. Ribeye Steak -- thought we'd learn some new techniques to elevate our steak prep game. Mexican Street Corn Dip and Homemade Tater Tots -- summer corn is a family favorite and the thought of making homemade tater tots was intriguing. Smash Burger Sliders -- wanted to learn to consistently nail that crispy exterior. Inexplicably, we were paired with another pair -- a single dad with an 8 yo kid. Neither the mister nor I wanted this but we didn't want to make a scene or hurt anyone's feelings. We didn't even realize we were paired with them until the chef pointed out that our mise en place tray was setup for four. Why?? 1. The Mexican Street Corn Dip which I think was supposed to be an appetizer, was completely omitted. However, we did make a grilled corn salad as part of the meal. There was no appetizer served when we arrived. 2. Instead of homemade tater tots we made potato wedges. 3. The team we were paired with was lovely. However the class was well beyond their skill level. So instead of taking on the bulk of the work for 2 people, I did the bulk of the prep for 4 people. The course description says there may be seasonal substitutions but these substitutions utilized the same core ingredients. This was more work than I anticipated and left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and behind schedule. This threw the timing off and my mister enjoyed his steak alone while I was still standing at a hot stove prepping food for 4 people. Not the fun afternoon of "us" time I'd envisioned. Overall this was a subpar experience in so many areas that mattered to us. Left me personally disappointed and apologizing to my mister for the poor planning and execution. Could have spent the same amount of money without the hour+ drive and had a better experience.

This year our company contacted LA Food Works and did a team building event. LA Food Works…read morespecializes in group cooking classes and the entire event lasted about 3~4 hours. Rose is the event organizer and everyone met at her house at 10 AM. After a warm reception and a quick introduction, we quickly split into different teams and I was assigned to the Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole station. The staff was very helpful and I just simply followed staff's instructions. Everyone pretty much finished the cooking by 12 PM and we were able to enjoy fruits of our labor! *** Menu *** * Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Chicken Stuffed with Mixed Herb Pesto * Arugula Salad with Candied Pine Nuts and Parmesan Dressing * Roasted Broccoli with Pumpkin Seeds, Pecorino and Gremolata * Creamy White Bean and Fennel Casserole * Lemon Souffle Cake with Macerated Mixed Berries Personally I liked arugula salad the best and my least favorite dish was lemon souffle cake (too sweet). Rose even emailed a digital copy of the recipe to everyone the following week! Overall it was a great team building experience and we also did a murder mystery right after our lunch (different company - not related to LA Food Works).

The class was for two hours and one ticket via Eventbrite was $65.86. All ingredients and cooking tools are provided. From the start to the end, I loved the whole experience. The step by step guidance was awesome. At the end, we were all laughing and having the times of our lives. Best of all, we got to enjoy the delicious freshly made gyoza! I will definitely be taking the tips I learned from this class to my own kitchen! I definitely would want to do another class with Classpop! I somehow expected this to be an indoor event, so staying "inside" was fine with me. We tried our first plate of couscous served with your choice of vegetable, chicken and/or beef (cheek?). Each item came with its own broth over the couscous. Vegetable was my favorite one. Besides from couscous, there were other items that Chef Farid Zadi and his team served that consisted of goat and rabbit meat. But the MUST have was the BRIK. It was the best thing I ate from this festival. It was OMG good~ I regretted not getting 2 the first time I ordered because by the time I wanted another one, the line was just too long. Each brik was prepared carefully in front of us (that's why it took a long time to order). It was prepared with a thin flour sheet called warka then the chef added shrimps (marinated with lemon/lime juice) + cilantro/parsley + harissa (a chili paste) + a whole egg (each cracked right in front of us). The chef then wrapped it loosely and then fried it... the end result = a crispy + fluffy layered of some darn good stuff called the BRIK.

My child is 3…read moreyears old and has been a student since she was 15 months old and I plan on staying until she ages out. Safety: It's a great feeling knowing your child is safe and secure. The center is gated and each parent/guardian must enter a code via the app to dropoff and pickup. It's in a great neighborhood as well. Sick Policy: They take their sick policy serious and as a parent I appreciate this. In the almost 2 years my child has been attending BB, she's only been 'sick' maybe 4 times (and by 'sick'. I mean runny nose and mild cough/congestion). I attribute this to the fact that they sanitize DAILY, perform routine health checks, and enforce the sick policy to keep everyone healthy and safe. Learning/Development: The growth that I've witnessed from my child while attending, still blows me away. This is so much more than a daycare, but a school as well where (as a toddler), they tailor the curriculum to the child's learning pace and they spend 1:1 time doing exercises with them from toddler-friendly science projects, my daughter is learning to write her name, she can read simple books, they teach logic and comprehension, and are big on emotional regulation, and independence. I'm truly grateful for all that my daughter has learned and continues to learn- she literally blows us away weekly with new words, phrases, and speech development. Holistic: They really have a holistic approach to education and wellness is one a core of it. They do yoga before naptime, Ms. Mirandoa prepares well-balanced and nutritious meals and snacks with organic ingredients and they even have cooking class where the kids learn how to prepare their food and learn about different foods, etc. My daughter was also potty trained at 2 years old here at BB, and we really followed the school's lead in doing so. It was a process, but we appreciated their patience and guidance helping our girl reach this milestone. It was a collaborative effort truly. In the summer they have splash activities and various celebrations throughout the year. It really is a community here and as you can see I'm blessed to be part of it. It's so evident that Ms. Miranda and Ms. Picazo were made for this work. They truly love what they do and it shows! Your child will quite literally be in the best care here!
