I hired Heather for my wedding to do our dessert table and wedding day coordinating. She communicated well the weeks leading to the wedding and was kind. She is a talented baker and her desserts were good. However, the execution of my event was incredibly unorganized and not timely. She showed up to our rehearsal 50 minutes late when we were only given one hour to rehearse by the venue. I basically had to coordinate my own rehearsal. The day of the wedding, set up was scheduled for 1:30 PM and she was supposed to meet all the vendors and provide any instructions since I had emailed her all the info in advance. She showed up an hour before the wedding to set up. Thank God my friend arrived early and was able to guide the vendors. We paid for a welcome sign that was very beautiful but she was literally gluing the flowers as my guests were arriving. She stated she would provide all the plates and spoons and anything that was needed for the dessert table (including the table cloth) but that did not take place and the table looked nothing like I asked for. She did stay until the end of the event to make sure everything was cleaned up and I did appreciate that. If you chose Heather for a big event, make sure you are clear about your expectations for timeliness and organization or only chose one service for her to provide. If you are just purchasing and picking up desserts for a party, she is a great reasonable option but make sure you give yourself plenty of time between pick up and the time of your event. It doesn't make me happy to give a bad review, but I was so disappointed that I felt compelled to leave this review even though it's been 2 years. I hired Heather to bake a cake as a surprise for my sister's baby shower. The following are the major issues: 1. We did not receive a single compliment on the appearance or taste of the cake, but several people did mention that the frosting was difficult to eat and tasted like rubber. The whole bottom portion of the cake was left uneaten. 2. The appearance of the cake was very unprofessional and looked nothing like the sample photo she sent me to quote the price. It was missing baby shoes, pink ribbons and beads, and baby block designs. The cake also had oddly colored and placed polka dots. 3. Heather told us to come no later than 1pm to pick up cake, we came at 12:45pm and had to wait in the hot car for 40 mins while she did a rush job on the cake. Worst of all, even after I brought all these concerns to Heather's attention she refused a partial discount, but rather offered me $20 towards her services in the future, which of course I declined. read more

This review is overdue as I'm planning another party and ordering again with Heather. I discovered Heather through Groupon when I was planning my friend's bridal shower over the summer. The theme was tea party with pink and gold as the colors. I ordered 4 dozen cake pops, 2 dozen regular cupcakes, and 4 dozen mini cupcakes and left all creativity in the hands of Heather. Everything was DELICIOUS. The cake was moist and all cake pops were devoured instantly. Heather is on point with details. Each dozen cake pop had it's own design and matched the theme perfectly! The regular cupcakes had frosting in the shape of a rose which was a nice added touch! Had no problem picking up. UNACCEPTABLE. I placed a rush order for cake pops as a Halloween treat for our employees with Heather on Friday of last week for delivery on Friday this week. She accepted the order and I paid in full. I called on Tuesday and asked if she could deliver a portion of my order on Thursday evening as our night employees would not be here on Friday. Heather assured me it was no problem and that she would make it happen. My Thursday delivery never made it. So I called on Friday to ask what happened with my order from the day before and ask what time my Friday order would get here. She claims that they couldn't reach me and so she wasn't going to make the delivery because I didn't answer my phone, even though she had the address and time set to deliver. Heather also said that she told me that she had other orders and that I should have placed mine sooner. To that I say, if she was too busy she shouldn't have accepted my order to begin with. However, she had no problem sending me an invoice to pay in full. She then assures me complete order will be here at 11:30 am. It is now 2:30 pm and Heather has stopped answering my phone calls. As for the cupcakes, they were nothing special. The red velvet tasted like vanilla cake. The frosting looked like it was put on there last minute they very un-uniform. Only half of the cupcakes were eaten at the event I took them to I ended up taking home a dozen. I would not recommend these cupcakes to anyone. Please beware!!!! I had an awful experience with Heather ( Owner of the Sweet Life) . My daughters first birthday party was December 17, 2017. I had ordered a pastel colored two layer unicorn cake, along with cake pops and cookies. Everything was okay until the day of the party. The items were delivered (by a delivery driver) 4 hours late (so my cake/deserts table was empty the entire party). Not only did they arrive late but the cake was completely different from what I asked for and also partially smashed and leaning to one side. I spoke with the driver and she told me that she wasn't responsible for the cake because it was placed in her car by Heather and she didn't touch the cake. I spoke with Heather the day after the party and I expressed my disappointment and frustration. She was apologetic and said she'll refund me back for the cake but while we were discussing refunds she mentioned that she's not sure how long it'll take because the two other refunds she processed took different amount of times. I thought to myself, wow this is how she does business. I called her and left a message a few weeks after that conversation and didn't hear back from her. After a really bad experience trying to order from Beth's Cake Pops in Culver City. I chose to get my baby shower desserts from The Sweet Life. I ordered Heathers cake pops, chocolate covered rice crispy treats, pretzels and strawberry's. I gave heather the colors of my baby shower and she matched all of the desserts perfectly to my theme and they all had their own individual look. The cake pops and rice crispy treats were both individually wrapped and had their own stick. The presentation was so nice. The cake pops were moist and delicious! I wish I would have ordered more. The other desserts were amazing too! I had nothing left since my guests devoured everything, thankfully, my sister managed to stash a few items away for me:) Heather also delivered everything directly to my event location for a mere ten dollars.
