We live in Pasadena and have continued driving all the way to the Fairfax location because Hansen's has always been our designated cake bakery. That's how much we loved and trusted them. Unfortunately, the quality just isn't what it used to be. My mom recently made the drive to pick up a cake for my sister, and I was genuinely shocked by the decorating. The border work looked rushed and mediocre, the frosting looked unfinished, and overall it did not have the quality or attention to detail that we've always associated with Hansen's. I honestly feel like I could have done a better job decorating it myself. To make matters worse, the cake wasn't properly secured for the drive home. Two small pieces of tape at the base of the cake board were clearly not enough, and the cake shifted and was damaged on the way home. It's really disappointing because this isn't just a bakery we randomly tried, Hansen's has been part of our family celebrations for decades.
