I've been a regular at Sweet Betty's for several years now, and they just keep getting better & better (or sweeter & sweeter ; ) -Love their veg omelet choices, particularly the artichoke. Their bread & home fries are also some of the best I've ever had. The staff are friendly & the new space at Gresham Civic Center is *fantastic*! Love Betty's decor choices & the overall inclusive feel of the space, the music, the outdoor seating options & location next to the Max. The little gift shop they've opened is also fun & a reason to visit in & of itself. I wish they would offer veg sausage as a side (not sure why more breakfast/brunch spots don't do this, considering even open-minded, healthy omnivores appreciate plant-based options) but overall again, I love Sweet Betty's, it's a Gresham institution, and I highly recommend! read more

I was in Gresham on a work call and had some extra time, so I decided to see what the area restaurants are like. This is a really great little breakfast place. It's not easy to make these sorts of diners stand out, and this one actually has a surprising amount of local character. The staff is friendly and seems to be having a good time and the kitchen is really fast -- I had a small order, the pork scramble, but I saw other tables served just as fast with larger and more complex dishes. The decor is just "hip" enough to be noticeable and gives it flair beyond the typically dull breakfast diner atmosphere. The food itself was great. I mean, there isn't a whole lot extra you can do with scrambled eggs, meat, and cheese, but I left happy. Use to be one of the best breakfast establishments in Gresham, it has definitely went down hill. The quality of the food does not match the price tag. We sat at the high top bar and witnessed the cook use his phone numerous times then proceeded to cook with out washing his hands or at least putting on gloves. The other cook was eating food off the grill, on the other side there was a cook drinking his Red Bull while assembling food. The can was just sitting on the cutting board. Bartender was amazing this morning. She made 2 cocktails that weren't on the menu... A spiked hot apple cider and a rumchata. Both were delicious. We started with a half order of biscuits and gravy which were . I had a burger, my friend had an omelette. I'll be honest - we chose Sweet Betty's this morning because we really respected their willingness as a business to take a stand against police violence against BIPOC. We eat most of our meals at home right now, due to taking the virus very seriously, but we also want to help support local businesses, who have also been impacted. So, we put in an order, and 10 minutes later it was ready for pick up. BUT WOW! I'm so glad we did! The food was GREAT! I had the raspberry cinnamon french toast, and it was thick, soft, luscious, slathered in butter and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I added some syrup because I have a sweet tooth, but many folks might find it delicious on its own, between the sugar/butter and the sweet fruityness of the raspberry cinnamon swirl in the bread itself. I'd love to say this place was great. Everyone else seems to think so. When we showed up, it was mid-morning on a weekday. An older couple was walking in directly in front of us. Once inside the very small lobby/waiting area, we were crammed in with this other couple. A waiter who appeared to be VERY stoned was sort of floating around the interior. Several tables were vacant, but dirty. A very large group was in the middle of the restaurant. The stoned waiter came over to the couple in front of us and suggested that they could sit at a table, when he got done cleaning it. He then went to clean it...and got distracted halfway through. He wandered off and started taking an order from the large group of people. The table stayed dirty. In the back of the restaurant, it looked like the cooks in the kitchen were working their tukus' off. They were rushing about looking harried. So was a woman that was at the window, who would rush from there to behind a bar and back again. The stoned water just kind of wandered around. A young couple stood up from a table and walked by us to the door. They turned to the couple who were in front of us and said, "You can have our table. We've been sitting for fifteen minutes and still haven't got our drinks." I told my girlfriend we were leaving. I could see where this was going. The couple in front of us also left. So then there was a minor traffic jam in the parking lot as our three vehicles maneuvered out of parking spaces to go find a place to eat. What a disappointment. read more

The prices are reasonable and the food is average greasy diner food. I ordered the 2 dollar pancakes and eggs for $6.50. The host told me the dollar pancakes were the size of a plate but the reality is they're much smaller (like size of your palm). The service was prompt. For peak hours on a Sunday, we were seated within 15 minutes. My only regret is not sitting outside because it is LOUD in here. Dubstep and breakfast do not go well together. The average rumble of a breakfast diner is loud enough... Add electronic music and even the waitress has to ask all of us to repeat our order. If you're looking for a calm breakfast ambiance, request to eat outside and as far as breakfast diners go, there is nothing quality about the ingredients or thoughtful about the food preparation here. read more

And their house vinaigrette is delicious, light refreshing delectable. Jazz got straight biscuits and gravy. They looked good and Jazz had no compliants. She "split" a mimosa bucket with me but we all know I had about 5% of it hahaha. Bash got the Heart Attack cheeseburger (all beef patty, ham, bacon, fried egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo) and a whiskey coffee aka whiskey with a splash of coffee. Food definitely is on point here and Mo and me would definitely return when back visiting but... SERVICE THOUGH. We almost walked out. We got seated way in the back right next to the hot kitchen in a heat wave..... Literally every single employee ignored us for at least 25 mins. No water. No I'll be with you soon. No acknowledgement that any of us existed. I mean sure it's decently busy but even the tables seated MUCH later after us who were closer to the center of the restaurant were getting clear service. Even the waitress or hostess who was the one who seated us completely ignored us. Finally a waiter took 1 look at our annoyed faces and knew we had been waiting a long time. He brought us water immediately and was very apologetic. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and came here for brunch. We enjoyed the mimosa buckets and the service while we ate there because we were a large group and they accommodated us well until the end of our dining. We had separate checks as it was a large group and my friend ended up being charged for another ticket in the group which came out to $100.00 and told she would be refunded that same day. They also charged the other friends their bill as well so they essentially made $80.00 extra dollars. 3 weeks later, she has not been refunded. She has called three times to be told that they cannot help her and that they do not have a manager to assist in the refund. If you are the owner of Sweet Betty please reach out as this is extremely unprofessional and we will not dine in a place that does not follow through with correcting their mistakes. This was an employees miscalculation that needs to be correct ASAP. read more

I am torn. Food was good. Drinks were better. Ambiance was fun and comfortable. However... service was absolute crap. My daughter and I waited over an hour before the server finally figured out our order was lost or forgotten. His was AFTER I asked twice about it. That was the first visit. Second visit, I was given the wrong order and had to wait another 20 minutes for my order while my companion finished his meal. I ended up taking mine to go, and not eating it because Huevos Rancheros has is just no good cold. Great Bloody Mary, though Ok... third visit ... OMG really?!?! Lost my order again. Then the eggs were undercooked - again. Like, basically the eggs were on the flattop for 10 seconds a side. Now I'm pretty amiable and understand restaurants don't get things right 100% of the time but this is ridiculous. I really wanted to like this place .. obviously, I have it three tries. I chose this place because of the reviews and went solo on a Tuesday morning. Got a table right away and the service was great! The wait staff was very nice and attentive. The bummer part was the food. I got the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns, and a slice of the raspberry French toast. The chicken fried steak was very bland and you could tell it was gravy from a packet. The hashbrown the same, 0 seasoning and definitely from a frozen bag. If I'm going to pay $16+ for a breakfast the least they could do it actually make some of it. Coffee was also not good and very watery. They also brought the coffee cream out in a baby bottle with threw me off a bit honestly. Didn't seem like the best container for some half and half but maybe that's just me. The French toast on the other hand was incredible! Maybe just stick to the "from the griddle" section of the menu and I'm sure it will be great read more

There were several people in line at the hostess stand when I got there. None of the employees acknowledged us until finally a girl busing tables came over and took the first person's name. Instead of taking everyone's name in line, she immediately turned around (again, without acknowledging anyone else) and bused a couple more tables. She repeated this bus a table, take one name, bus a table routine the entire time. My friend and I heard several people around us complaining that they were skipped even though they were standing right next to the door and never heard their name called. We knew our turn was coming up so we moved inside so we wouldn't miss my name being called. The hostess didn't call inside, she went outside and called so she skipped us. Luckily when we complained there was a table available so she was able to seat us right away. It was about 10 minutes before someone showed up with water glasses and another 10-15 minutes before a waitress showed up to take our order. Everyone was running around like crazy and they were obviously short-staffed, so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But the service was terrible all around. read more

I love this place in its third location in Gresham. Still has the electric charm. HOWEVER, the business needs to put on its website that they will NOT seat until the entire party is there. We showed up early so our out-of-town guests could be seated promptly. The host stated it was not his issue but the management's. I asked to speak to the manager. She directed me to the sign at the podium, which admittedly I did not catch upon entry. I was worried as tables were filling up. She said, I'm sorry, that's the policy when we're busy. I was aggravated: to which she said, "that attitude won't get you any where." I reacted to this statement, and she said, "keep it up and we won't serve you." I'm thinking this young woman MUST be a relation to the owner, as I don't believe an unentitled employee would react to a customer in this manner. She left and when the host came back, I tried to tell him that I knew it wasn't his issue and to thank him for his help. Instead he said to me, "You're being disrespectful and I won't talk to you." WOW! What happened to Customer Service. I'll go back but the lesson is BEWARE. read more

Unpleasant pre-dining experience if you have a party larger than three. Came here with a party of five for my husband's birthday and we're told it would be about a 25-minute wait. The only waiting area that can hold more than one adult is outside. Over an hour later we were still waiting, as multiple groups of two and three arrived after us and got seated promptly. The woman who would shortly become our server had to point out to the rude hostess that you could actually combine two smaller tables to seat a bigger party. This had been mentioned by several other waiting guests, but was met with attitude by the hostess each time. Most of had one of their specials, the stuffed French toast. Delicious! Bill was just under a hundred bucks for the five of us. I really appreciated the breakdown of tips by percentage, although I did worry that some of it would go to the totally undeserving hostess. Just when we thought we were done dealing with that unpleasant woman, the hostess even brought us only four glasses of water for our table of five, muttering that the waitress would bring the last one. Um... thanks, I guess. Why you can't grab another glass yourself is beyond me -- luckily the waitress came by maybe 30 seconds later. Minus two stars for the hostess's incompetence and attitude. We were honestly about to leave if not for our waitress, who is proof that not all heroes wear capes. Groups of three or less should be able to bypass the grumpy gatekeeper, though, and have a better experience. Just don't expect enough glasses of water from the hostess. read more

The hollandaise sauce tastes scratch made and fresh and the Benedict had a great contrast of textures ( the English muffin was toasted!
