My favorite time to travel is off season, Asheville in the winter is most enjoyable. I zipped to Sweet Biscuit Inn for a night and had a lovely stay. Sometimes it is hit or miss in old houses. All the rooms have remodeled bathrooms. So it is the best of both worlds, charming house with modern ammenities. This place would be amazing for a bridal party to rent the whole house. There are 7 rooms plus a carriage house. The owners are really welcoming. Cheap, quick Uber ride away from downtown, great place to stay in Asheville.

We loved our stay at the Sweet Biscuit Inn! The hospitality was amazing! The room was very comfy and cozy. John & Susan are the kindest people and John is an amazing cook. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! We highly recommend staying at the Sweet Biscuit Inn.

Great house, amazing food, and the nicest hosts! Sweet Biscuit Inn was a great spot for our girls weekend. Susan greeted us with a glass of bubbles and fresh cookies while John built a fire in one of their guest-room fireplaces and brought our luggage to the rooms. After spending our days exploring Asheville (eating, drinking, and shopping our way through this great city) it was nice to come back to adjoining rooms with our own private sitting area for late night girl talk! We had amazing breakfasts-- bloody Mary deviled eggs, homemade sweet potato biscuits, spinach, tomato and goat cheese frittata, and the Greek yogurt with homemade lemon curd were on my list of favorites. The nice touches were everywhere--fresh flowers, chocolates, mini fridges stocked with water--the list goes on! I highly recommend Sweet Biscuit for your next get away!

We discovered this very sweet Sweet Biscuit Inn through Yelp. What a find. Not only is the beautiful home well located, and the service great, but the breakfasts are out of this world! We enjoyed every morsel of Claudia's 3 course breakfast menu, and eating all together at the dining room tables with the other guests was such a very nice touch. Thank you Christian and Claudia for a wonderful respite. We'll be back.

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

Every place we've rented has been nice but never great enough to get us to come back for a repeat visit. Those days of bouncing around are over! Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. She had lots of great suggestions on where to go and what to do and seemed to genuinely love the area. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Excellent stay! Second time at Asheville Cottaged and we cannot say enough about the experience. They think of everything to make your experience top notch! We arrived and were feeling a little snacky. No problem! The snack tree and variety of waters/soft drinks/juiced beverages in the fridge were welcome! We browsed the binder for suggestions on where to grab dinner. After dinner at White Duck Taco, we stopped Ingles for a few groceries. Of course, Tracie and Marshall made sure each cottage had an Ingels savings card to use! Need a battery? Under the kitchen sink. Ziplock bag? Yep..,check a drawer in kitchen. They think of everything you may need and have it on hand for you! Loved the soaking tub! Loved the heated bathroom floor. Loved heated toilet seat. Accidentally hit a button on the bidet in the middle of the night and got a little surprise rinse off. . The big surprises were seeing a few bears late one afternoon behind the cottage (Magnolia). Thankfully, we just sat quietly on the deck and they looked at us and took off for the woods. Overall, it was a great trip and on the flight home, I started to look at availability to come back for a girls trip later in the Fall with my sister and niece. But before I could book anything, Hurricane Helene severely impacted the area. My heart breaks for all the families who lost loved ones in this disaster. By finding them on social media to see if they were ok, I found out that thankfully Asheville Cottages did not sustain much damage due to their location. Since Asheville tourism is essentially stopped, Tracie and Marshall have graciously opened their cottages to local families who have been displaced by the hurricane as they still have electricity and water. They also are still paying their employees salaries during this time (as they did during Covid) - taking care of them like family. THIS is exactly the kind of small business that my husband and I are proud to support so we will be staying at Asheville Cottages next time we come to Asheville...whenever that can happen.

While the Inn will not guarantee your first choice of room when you make your reservation, we were able to choose from three rooms upon arrival, which included our top two choices. I would guess most B&Bers don't prefer rustic decor, which is why our first choice, the Appalachian Trail Room, was still available. (The others are more luxe, such as the Parisian room or the Moroccan themed room). We loved our room, which is set off from the main house and looks like a log cabin. Tom is a gregarious innkeeper and makes lovely and thoughtful breakfasts. Breakfast is taken in common areas of the inn, such as the solarium or the library, on trays. We took ours into the solarium, where we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden landscaping. I think people are put off by the complicated pricing structure (for instance, it is possible to book w/o spa treatments but it's hard to tell from the website) or the mystery surrounding the reservations process. It is true that some rooms do not have their showers (all have whirlpool tubs in-room) and that the shower for those rooms is located in a common area. However, I believe three of the rooms have a shower in-room as well; ours did.

Yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bagels, boiled eggs, and bread. The cookies put out in the afternoon and cider were both delicious! The property sits on a main street I believe near a hospital so sirens were heard throughout the day and night. The room (Garden Suite) was a little small and the bed was pretty squeaky when ever you sat on it or turned over in the night. The TV remote also was a pain to operate. We also enjoyed the sitting area and the porch for sipping hot drinks and chatting with other guests during the evening. I am not saying it is a bad place to stay or that I regret the stay, but I just didn't feel that it stood up or out against other B&Bs we have stayed.
