We're just coming back from a two night stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast inn. It's a Victorian mansion built in 1891. It's only a few minutes from the Biltmore House in Asheville. The manager, Christy, went out of her way to make certain that we had an extraordinary stay. The house itself is full of Victorian era furniture. It has three floors. The first day we stayed in a room on the second floor. The second night we stayed in the downstairs room called the A. Reese room. It has its own private entrance and two bathrooms. It was so wonderful. We had free breakfast both days that included bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, granola, and of course, coffee or tea. Use of a small refrigerator and microwave. The good and bad... First and foremost the staff was great! Christy and Sue were attentive and friendly every interaction. They also accommodated my wife's food allergy. So please know this is not a reflection of the on-site staff. Now for the not so good. The breakfast was pretty much a continental breakfast. I have had very similar at several chain type hotels. Yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bagels, boiled eggs, and bread. The cookies put out in the afternoon and cider were both delicious! The property sits on a main street I believe near a hospital so sirens were heard throughout the day and night. The room (Garden Suite) was a little small and the bed was pretty squeaky when ever you sat on it or turned over in the night. The TV remote also was a pain to operate. We also enjoyed the sitting area and the porch for sipping hot drinks and chatting with other guests during the evening. I am not saying it is a bad place to stay or that I regret the stay, but I just didn't feel that it stood up or out against other B&Bs we have stayed. read more

So pleased with our stay at the Inn. So much atmosphere and charm. We really enjoyed that for one mid-weeknight, we were the only guests in the main house. it felt like we were the lords of the manor! The room was very comfortable and smelled so clean!! The bed was soft and we slept well. Enjoyed the breakfast, had just enough choice to get a good start to the day, especially as we chose to sit on the charming porch and enjoys the trees. The dining area is open at all times and we enjoyed one lovely pizza dinner on the porch, with a bottle of rose we were able to chill in the small guest fridge available there. Staff was super helpful and very nice. They answered all our questions and had top service. The house and room was clean and very comfortable. We stayed in the Queen Anne and it was super spacious. The only thing I would say negative is that a hospital is down the road, so you did hear a few ambulances at night. However that is not the B&Bs fault. read more

We had a wonderful time this weekend at The Cedar Crest Inn. The Inn is convenient both to The Biltmore estate and downtown Asheville. The Inn is gorgeous, and decorated with beautiful furnishings. Our room The Celebration Suite was perfect for the two of us. The beds very large and very, very comfortable. Every thing was very clean. The tub/shower was a deep jetted tub and shower. The water was hot but the shower was just an awkward set up overall. The breakfasts were delightful, hot coffee, tea and juice are self service while you wait for your meal. The staff was very helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. In the afternoon complimentary cookies and tea are available and from 5-6 complimentary wine and snacks are also available. We found our stay just charming and I would absolutely visit again! read more

This place is beautiful. I stayed in November and it was decorated for Christmas. The room was clean and cozy, the innkeepers were friendly and accommodating (Tiffany in particular was so helpful with my late check in). Breakfast was the best part! Each day there was coffee, cranberry and orange juices, and a two course meal. The first day was a parfait followed by a waffle and the second day a scone and a breakfast sandwich. Common areas are accessible 24/7 and they leave cookies out in the afternoon and through the night. read more

We booked Cedar Crest over the New Year's stay. We arrived from the Asheville Airport after 11pm. The late check-in process was easy since our keys were left for us in the outside mailbox with instructions to check in the next morning. The next morning we ate breakfast at 8:30 and when we tried to check in we were told to comeback in the afternoon. We never really received a great orientation to the property was a shame because sitting in the living room with the fireplace was great but no one told us how to turn on the has fireplace. The room was nice but two lights did not work. Also the Band B thought it was for a single man which resulted in us getting a small bathroom. Also our gas fireplace in our room was not working. However the overall stay was pleasant and the breakfasts were great. The decor was splendid and the staff was great. I would definitely come again however I would ask to have a working fireplace in our room. read more

The house itself it absolutely adorable. Beautiful details in every room and it's really cool to look up the history about it. I wish they included more history at B&B itself but I was able to find some stuff online. The staff was very friendly and helpful about everything. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were sooo soft. The food was really good but I found myself wanting more, maybe that's just me being greedy and accustomed to the normally oversized American portions. They put out complementary wine and a cheese board in the evenings for guests as well as platters of cookies or brownies each day. They also provided a guest mini fridge downstairs to store whatever we needed (most used this for wine/beer but you could also put leftovers in there). They showed us how to turn the fireplaces on and off so every night we were able to relax with a glass of wine by the fire before we retired to our rooms, it was lovely after travelling/sightseeing all day. My only improvement would be the check in process. It's the opportunity for a good first impression but they took us straight into an employee area to get our get us checked in, go over info, and swipe my card for the final payment. I'd recommend seating us at one of the tables in the dining area next to this room and going over info there, then the guest could give them the card to swipe just steps away. read more

Cedar Crest Inn Outstanding B&B! A true victorian jewel. I have stayed in many B&B's throughout the United States and never run across such an exceptional Victorian home. It's like staying in a museum, or you could even imagine this is what staying at the Biltmore guest house was like back in the day. The wood work is glorious, furniture authentic and decorations simply sumptuous! We stayed in the Queen Anne room, which is the most beautiful room I have ever slept in! See my rating guide below. Atmosphere: true Victorian opulence. Wifi: free but not strong. Was not able to stream Netflix on my iPad. On rainy day this would have been nice. Parking: easy, ample and free Service: outstanding and friendly. Went above and beyond to make our stay luxurious. Price: good value for the price point. Location: exceptional. Walking distance to the village, approximately 10 minutes. Food: breakfast was very nice, simple with no options. You get what they serve and that's it. We had fresh fruit salad, scrambled eggs, hashbrown casserole, turkey bacon and muffins. Unlimited coffee, tea and juice. There are cookies set out in the afternoon and a glass of wine for your consumption. Notes: there are many charming gas fireplaces in common areas. Christmas decorations are flawless and period appropriate. What needs to improve for a 5 star rating (in my opinion of course) Common area refrigerator closed after 6pm, needs to be access 24 hours to a common frig. We had champagne and cheese we enjoyed at 8 pm when we returned from a long day of sightseeing, but had no place to store the remains. Wifi stronger. 4 out of 5 fireplaces not functioning in the bedrooms. So, be aware if you are getting a room because it advertises a fireplace, call management before you book to see if it indeed works. Otherwise I highly recommend this property and cant wait to return! An additional rating criteria needs to be added for this review. Romance factor: 10 out of 10. Beautiful bed and breakfast but we have stayed in a couple B&Bs and it just doesn't have that warm homey feeling. The staff treat it more like a hotel than B&B, they aren't very warm or interested in their guests. The rooms are clean and spacious enough for two people, three people would probably be too cramped. The breakfast was very unhealthy and uninspired. One morning we had home fries, quiche and a pastry the other morning we had a parfait, waffles and bacon. The staff did not try to offer any suggestions on nearby sights or local recommendations. Also due to Covid the rooms are not cleaned daily, just upon leaving. read more

Cedar Crest Inn - Odie found his stay to be perfect! - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Asheville, North Carolina

This was a special weekend visit so I splurged on the Cedar Crest Inn. Our room was very comfortable but the heavy ceiling drapes were a bit oppressive. The dark colors in our room contrasted unfavorably with some of the other rooms we saw in passing which were light and airy. The breakfast was nicely served and first rate. Coffee was as good as I've ever had in a hotel. To my mind the porch was the crown jewel of the inn. After traipsing around Asheville we would return to sit on the porch, have a cup of coffee and a delicious freshly baked cookie (or two or three) and listen to the birds. The Inn is located fairly close to the hospital so our solitude was frequently interrupted by sirens, but they never seemed to interrupt our sleep. A very pleasant stay but a little pricey. read more

My two sisters and I recently did an extended sibling reunion excursion in Asheville, with two days for the Estate and its Grounds, a day in the River Arts District, and a day exploring Downtown, and the Cedar Crest Inn was a magical base for our visit! We all really felt as if we had stepped thru a time portal into being the guest of a wealthy acquaintance of, well, the Vanderbilts, lol. The rich panelling and perfect period decor of the common rooms; the sumptuously comfortable beds; the attentiveness to subtle but easy modern conveniences; the effortless, friendly and unobtrusive staff; and those lovely breakfasts were all just perfection! You visit Asheville for a mature, refined excursion, and our stay at Cedar Crest enhanced our trip in more ways than I can articulate. Is it a great place for a high energy family? No, but mature children and teens who understood what a visit to Asheville is all about would enjoy staying here, I'm sure. The breakfasts were all highest quality freshness and crafted with love and imagination, and I loved having a surprise each morning. I also enjoyed being in a private house environment that made it easy to reach out and interact with other guests. I'm very happy we chose Cedar Crest over the more expensive hotels on the Estate Grounds, because I know we got a true sense of what Gilded Age manners and style were actually about; a big hotel would have been too impersonal and too typically harried. Cedar Crest Inn lets a guest really immerse in fantasies of what the slower, refined and graciously thoughtful life of Upper Class Americans was all about during the Gilded Age. NOTE: BTW, the fireplaces were easy to operate, they function with an electric slide mechanism that allows the user to regulate the height of the flames. They aren't button operated. I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars, because parts of the stay were A-OK, while others were a little meh. But since I'm nice and like to give folks the benefit of the doubt, I'll round up but add this note: my in-laws--who paid and joined us for the weekend--would not be so kind. First of all, the big pink Victorian is gorgeous, inside and out. I enjoyed wandering around and peeking into the unoccupied rooms--I felt like I went back in time! We didn't stay there, though; my mother-in-law actually booked a cottage separate from the main house, which was a little yellow Craftsman. I thought it was really cute, but lacked the cohesion in style that the main house had. But, whatever--the bed was really comfortable, and that's what matters to me. But, I'll admit it didn't help that the cottage wasn't prepared for four people and we had to ask for more of everything and that the place wasn't totally clean (dirty dishes were still in the sink) when we returned after a day out. While my in-laws' biggest complaint was probably the cottage (and general value), mine was the check-in process. It was a bit awkward. Maybe the clerk was stressed out, but I felt like we were intruding and were not welcome at all. And that's no way to feel at a bed & breakfast! And speaking of breakfast, what was served was tasty, but one morning there wasn't an ounce of protein and I was very hungry not long after. However, on a positive note about the food, I was impressed that they knew my husband was a vegetarian and accommodated his diet without any problems. Overall, I wouldn't go back, but I would recommend it to a couple (not a larger group) looking for a romantic weekend in/around Asheville. read more

Never stayed at a BNB before, I always go big name hotels so I was a bit apprehensive on staying here. The idea of bed and breakfasts seems weird and creepy but when I found out this place can sleep line 30 people I figured this must not be a ordinary one so figured it was worth a shot, and it was awesome! First off you start your day with a free 3 course breakfast and it was really good. First day was a strawberry and granola smoothie, fresh baked blue berry muffin, and a drop biscuit with bacon egg and cheese with an amazing breakfast gravy. Hotel breakfast is hardly edible and his is all made hot and fresh for you every day. Menu Changes greatly as the next day it was a great fruit salad, then an orange muffin (never had orange before but it was so great) and then a great Belgium waffle with chocolate syrup stripe on the plate plus eggs and sausage. As far as the rooms go I got to check out most of them and they were all very interesting and well decorated. I opted for the stables and it was great! Cable TV on LCD televisions is what I'm use to and was happy to see multiple TVs in my room. Full kitchen and bath were also present and allowed for a l lot of comfort on my stay. I ended up staying 4 nights total And was offered a tour of the home. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, free wine, free cakes etc... What else do you want??? Stay here it's super close to everything that Asheville has to offer is the closest BnB to the BILTMORE which was built around the same time period so who needs to even see that place come see this place! (Just kidding the BILTMORE is amazing and needs to be seen to be appreciated. Our bed was a tempurpedic mattress so they didn't skimp out on anything that I could see, definitely had a great time and I will be staying here again next time I'm in this area, but be warned its really popular so call way ahead of time to get a reservation especially near Christmas time I was warned by friends who stayed here before me. read more

Ok. I loved this place. Drew and his group did a great job of making us feel so welcome and at home. This is by far the best bed and breakfast I have been to so far. I loved learning the history of the home and seeing how it changed over the years. The beds were pretty comfortable. Breakfast was satisfying. I loved how he offered snacks and beverages throughout the day. Two of my favorite things my friend and I did while staying at the house was having pound cake and tea on the patio and having a glass of tea at night. The home encourages conversation and my friend and I enjoyed a lot of conversation over tea time. I also enjoyed meeting a lot of the other guest and hearing their stories. This is the Ultimate Bed and Breakfast! The one that sets the standard for all the others! The staff was amazing and very helpful. I chose the Cedar Crest Inn to propose to my now fiancé, and it was the best thing I could've done! The staff was able to get all the little details in place before we drove there from the Nashville, TN area. Sabrina, Leta, Cynthia and the Proprietor, Drew all took part in making this special time an unforgettable one! The breakfast was great (complements to the chef!) and just the right servings! (although, if your expectations are to be served in buffet quantities, you will be disappointed!) But, if you're eating right, and healthy, and in SERVING SIZES (as we should all be doing) then you will be content with it, along with the ambiance that can only come from a Historical B&B such as Cedar Crest Inn! It was like being transported back in time to a bygone era! I cannot say enough about Cedar Crest Inn and the Wonderful Staff who made it all happen! And if you want to know what my (then) girlfriend thought about this place, reserve the Garden Room when you go there and be sure to read the little guest book that's kept at the nightstand by the bed! I enjoyed our stay at Cedar Crest and would stay there again. At first it was a little awkward when we first arrived because the check in process is a bit odd. Since this is not a typical hotel there is no real "check in" area so you just kind of walk in and wander around until you found someone that works there. Once we did the rest of the stay was awesome. They give you wine and bake you cookies and other yummy goodies. The rooms are very cute and comfortable but a bit small. This was my husband's and my first stay at a B&B (May 1, 2017); extremely disappointing! My first expectation was that the owner would be on the premises and serve as host; he was not present (also mentioned in many other reviews here and on tripadvisor-shame on me for not paying attention!). We were booked for two nights, but after breakfast the first morning we decided that we just couldn't spend the second night there as scheduled, even though we had paid for it. We handed the keys to the young lady who served us breakfast and told her we were leaving, that this experience wasn't what we had hoped for. She did not ask why; she only offered to change our room for us. Been there, done that (read on)! If this were my business, I would have wanted to know what was unsatisfactory so that I could fix it, but wasn't the owner and she couldn't have cared less; she didn't ask, and of course, the owner wasn't there to have that discussion with. Here's what led to our early departure: We were originally booked in the Romeo & Juliet room-very tiny & dark, no place to set up a laptop, bathroom incredibly small, TV didn't work-the last straw. We called downstairs to Tiffany (the pleasant-enough young lady who took our reservation the day before and checked us in when we arrived) for help with the TV at 7:45 pm, 15 minutes before she was scheduled to go off duty. She came right up, but she was unsuccessful in getting it to work; she commented that she couldn't get it to work for the last guests, either. Interesting, so why hadn't it been fixed? She called the owner, whose number was given to us earlier if we had any problems after she left at 8:00. He didn't answer her call... How would we contact him after hours if we needed something if he's not answering calls? There's no management on the property after 8 pm; you're on your own. Good luck if you lock yourself out of your room--or worse yet, out of the house. Tiffany switched us to the room next door with a working TV. This room was a little bigger than the Romeo & Juliet room, but the bathroom was still ridiculously small. The room itself was very dark as was the entire house; we couldn't figure out how to turn on 2 of the wall sconces, and one bulb in one of the floor lamps blew out (this was after 8 pm, so we were screwed). The bed was so high that Tiffany had to find a step stool for me to use to get into bed, which was most uncomfortable--so neither my husband nor I slept much. The pillows were flat & dead. The small armoire was filled with extra pillows and a blanket, so there was no room to hang any clothes. If we had unpacked our suitcases, there wouldn't have been any place to put the suitcases anyway--except out in the hall. A noisy portable air conditioner on the floor took up much needed floor space--window units would have been a better option. Running the noisy air conditioner unit was a better option than opening up a window and listening to the constant blaring of sirens heading to the near-by hospital or the trains blaring their whistles. The shower was so tiny that you couldn't bend over to wash your feet or get out of the way when the water went from scalding hot to cold without warning (also mentioned in other reviews--so why hasn't this been addressed?); it was just an awful experience. Breakfast the next morning was nothing special. No choice at all. We were served whatever they brought out to us, although I must say that when I booked the room, I was asked about food restrictions. I said "no meat, no onions", which they honored with a cheese-only omelet. The "3 courses" were simply a small fresh fruit cup, a muffin, and an omelet; the coffee was lukewarm from a thermos. No decaf. We couldn't wait to get out of there. We'll never return to Cedar Crest Inn, but I learned what questions to ask the next time we consider staying at another B & B. The only recommendation I have about CCI is to avoid it! read more

Unfortunately, my husband and I had very disappointing experience trying to book a room at the Cedar Crest Inn during our recent trip to Asheville. We booked a room at the Inn using their online reservation system three days prior to the time that we were set to arrive. This system showed us that a room available for our selected dates and took all of our personal information and payment information. You know, like a reservation. The following day, however, they sent us an email saying that the room we reserved was not available, but another one was - at more than double the price. I would have preferred a phone call to convey that information as we were traveling and not checking in with email regularly. We followed up with phone call to resolve the issue. The staff again offered us a different room at a much higher price, then said that they would call us back to confirm the price and availability. We waited all day and they didn't call. When we called back, no rooms were available. In all of this, no one so much as apologized or tried to help us find a solution, so we were left to find other arrangements at the very last minute. I found this to be unprofessional in the utmost and I certainly will not seek to stay at the Cedar Crest on any subsequent trips to Asheville. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better experience at the Cedar Crest Inn. We were greeted by Tiffany who was welcoming and accommodating. The entire house was beautifully decorated for Christmas time and we booked a 2 night package so we could see the Candlelight Tour at Biltmore. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was the perfect size for us with its own fireplace and claw foot tub. We loved everything about this BnB from the breathtaking decor, to the dining recommendations of the owner, to the free wine and desserts. The three course breakfast (fruit medley, cranberry muffins, and spinach/mushroom omelettes) and service was excellent (We weren't expecting our bed to be made and the water bottles to be replaced daily but were happily surprised!) We stayed in cottage #1 and yes... It was pricey for the size. The bathroom was tiny and the appliances were old and outdated. However, bed was comfortable, the sitting room was cozy and efficient, and the surroundings were pretty. Suggestion: they should place a small fridge under the microwave. We had an early Biltmore time and they were able to accommodate an early breakfast. Joe, the chef created a superb meal!! read more

The Cedar Crest Inn goes beyond what you would expect from a B&B This gorgeous historical inn is only a $4 Uber away from downtown where you will find a ton of great resturaunts, such as an amazing Taps Bar, Cúrate, and tons of fun activities. The B&B is also an easy walk to the historical district sights, shops, and restaurants. The inn is also only a few minutes from the Biltmore Estate. The staff is friendly and attentive, they will to take their time when giving you any recommendations on what to do during your stay and accommodate your every need. we relaxed with a complimentary glass of wine by the beautiful fireplace. Complimentary cakes and tea were available all day and in the morning we enjoyed one of the best breakfasts i have had. I can't say enough about how lucky i felt being able to stay the weekend at the Cedar Crest Inn. If you're going to see Asheville, you need to stay at this historic B & B, I cannot wait for an excuse to go back! read more

We had a wonderful visit. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room was great. Breakfast was a little sparse and we would have liked to have known the inn sat on hospital row (ambulances going by frequently) but I would still stay there again. We really enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Crest Inn. The house is beautiful and really well kept. The grounds were full of flowers and the landscaping was perfect. We stayed in The Stables and our suite was big enough to spread out. All recently renovated, the bathroom is modern and beautiful. The bedroom had it's own TV and a comfy bed and the living area gave us room to spread out and relax. It is just steps away from Biltmore Village and an easy drive into Asheville for dinner and music. The Inn Hostess was friendly when we arrived and when we checked out. Breakfast was yummy. We enjoyed spending an afternoon reading on the veranda. read more

We just returned from a fabulous stay at the Cedar Crest Inn in Asheville NC. This historic B & B is beautiful inside and out. The main building is incredible and the furnishings were antiques throughout. We stayed in one of the 2 BR cottages with our dogs and it was very accommodating for them. The grounds are neat and clean and beautifully kept. The rooms were spacious and very nicely furnished with antiques down to a clawfoot tub in the bathroom. Free fast Wi-Fi is noteworthy since often that is an extra charge. My husband and I had a romantic time and we would definitely return. read more
