She kept on saying in front of my boyfriend - while this was a treat for his birthday - " you paid for the cheapest and smallest room; you paid for the cheapest and smallest room". Absolutely horrendous experience, which is a shame because the house is lovely. By the way I emailed the hotel asking for the owner to contact me, or a superviser. She responded "No". The house is exquisite, we arrived late on a Sunday and they left us a note and instructions, as well as twilight goodies, for tea and cookie hour! (Patti bakes something delicious daily for all her guests in the early evening.) Scrumptious! So we went about exploring the house, taking photos, and just as the sun was setting my boyfriend was bringing in the bags, thinking to himself "that Gary sure does think of everything, but he could use a light back...here" and the motion sensor kicked on and all was illuminated. Every morning Gary's breakfast would be a treat to the senses, baked goods, fruit (poached pear with Chantilly cream anyone?), and delicious entrees, fresh coffee, tea, and plenty of help on anything you could possibly need or think to need in Asheville. As we entered the inn we were greeted by the staff with warm chocolate chip cookies from the oven, they even made gluten free cookies for my husband who has celiacs. The interior was stunning and decorated to the period of the home. We had two rooms one on the third floor that had an exterior bathroom. I will admit I was concerned about the bathroom being located outside the room. It turned out just fine, the bathroom is not shared with other guests and had a lock. We were also supplied with robes and slippers to wear to walk from the bath to the bedroom. The second room we had was on the second floor by the 3rd entry. Both rooms were very comfortable, the linens were soft, everything smelled very fresh and clean. Breakfast was amazing every day and included a sweet item and a savory item. The inn keeper worked to address our dietary needs, making gluten free and dairy free options for our family. The inn is conveniently located about 1 mile from downtown and about 10 minutes from the Biltmore, making it a perfect quiet location for a full Ashville experience.

The staff member I spoke with (only not mentioning the name here to respect their privacy) was lovely! We were sent an email with instructions and our keys were left exactly where the email said they would be. We had a woodland cottage. Clean, rustic and spacious, with a charming porch. I'm unclear as to the complaints by other reviewers here about the lack of a tv, or telephone or WiFi. That clearly isn't the point of this place. There are a ton of other places in Asheville with all the traditional hotel amenities. It's nice that they are environmentally conscious and only refresh the rooms every 3 days on a 5 day stay. I would prefer a 2 day refresh personally, but can certainly appreciate the effort. A lot of major hotel chains now also don't refresh towels daily or give guests the choice. Only complaint I had was no additional meals are served or available but I was told that was in the works.

One friendly girl was behind one to the right, while later a grumpier older lady to the left. They say it's been open for a year already, but really I'm surprised it's open at all. For over $200 a night it was not worth it!! I arrived early and asked about an earlier check in, a couple hours before 4pm. They said it would be an extra $25 charge. I said no thank you, as i only wanted to leave my things in the room and go downtown Asheville. The young lady gave us a tour of the "sanctuary" and she was very sweet. She showed us where they teach classes, and have the sauna. One of the major reasons I considered this place. Sounds nice, right? Think again... the separate building, an up hill walk from their building. They have Yoga classes / chi-gong (only held in the morning) on what seams like a nice wood floor. This other building was under a serious re-model & I would not have found it fit for any guest to walk through. The rooms upstairs of this building for the most, were filled with ideas of what's to come.. the salt room, steam shower. It was a mess!! The only semi finished room was the sauna. I think they made a make shift room for it in a closet. The friendly girl giving the tour said she was getting requests from guests to use it, but that she needed to do a serious cleaning first and hoped it would be ready. Let me paint a picture for you.. No towels to sit on or pat off the feeling of sweat dripping off you. No shower. Having to walk from your room up hill to a distant building only to get hot & sweaty and walk back to your room. What about clothes? Is it a co-ed sauna? Bathing suits? Is it clean? Usually you have a towel to sit on. Do you bring a change of clothes for walking back to your room only to get them sweaty. Is there a changing room? ..because I didn't see one. It seams like they have many concepts that are nice, but not all together. The room... We got back from the tour, a different lady said we could put our things in the room, but our fireplace isn't working. I walk in to see two ladies on their hands and knees saying "we might have to call someone" as they are trying to fix the fireplace. We left our things. When we came back, luckily the fireplace was up and running. The room had a pretty big bathroom with a big tub and shower. The tub was dirty and I had to clean it. Make sure if you're going to take a bath to have extra time to not only clean it, but to fill the tub. It must have taken almost an hour. Slow going but it was nice and hot. The beds were decent, but the pillows were hard and almost better without one. There was really nothing in the room for entertainment or to keep you on schedule. No clock, no radio, no phone, no tv. Just the fireplace and WiFi. It was cold in the room so we went downstairs to get extra blankets. The older lady looked at us like we were crazy when we said we wanted 3 blankets since we only had a light thin blanket for two separate beds. She said you know there is a thermostat. That was a surprise to us. Still we wanted an extra blanket just in case. She made it seam like it was an imposition. Breakfast.. - One of the better things about this place! - Fresh and delicious My mom enjoyed the classes the next day Yoga Chi-gong I was happier to leave! I'm sure the fresh, cool, mountain air had something to do with our appetites, but really, he did an excellent job at making some simple comfort food. My husband and I booked a weekend trip to Asheville and this was our first AirBnB trip. This place had everything I wanted and more. From the moment we arrived, it exceeded my expectations. Graham and Felicity, the owners, are AMAZING! Felicity is super sweet and Graham is hilariously funny and accommodating. To begin, this B&B sits on several acres of land with a beautiful view of farmland and the mountains of Asheville. Trees and bushes flower all around you, and there are quite a number of cozy places to relax. Inside, the house feels very cozy, and the decor is spot on. Each room has a bathroom, and each room is completely different than the others. We stayed in the Hummingbird room (the purple one), which had plenty of room and a porch that led directly to the pool. It was too cold to swim, but the view was beautiful. We took advantage of the hot tub instead, which was relaxing and had a nice view. Graham is a chef by trade and he pampered us the entire weekend. We were greeted with a freshly made cake, which was quite yummy. On our second morning, we had an early excursion that prevented us from staying for breakfast. Graham not only prepared a cooler for my husband and I to take with us to have food to eat later, he also got up super early and made sure to bake some yummy pastries and have them waiting for us before we walked out the door. I can't say enough about how him taking the time to pack us a cooler, meant to us. We were both famished after our excursion and we drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, sat on the overlook, and had an excellent picnic brunch. We were able to enjoy brunch Sunday morning and it was excellent. Everything tastes so fresh and is presented beautifully. Normally most people would do their own thing at a B&B, but we actually enjoyed hanging out with Graham and Felicity. They were great company and it felt like we were all old friends. But if you desire complete privacy, they are completely respectful of that as well. Every little thing at Greenfield had a personal touch to it- from the food, to the specialty candies in the bedroom, to the decor. Sitting on the back patio of his home, overlooking 25 acres of a pastoral setting and the vistas of mountains in the distance permitted all tensions to dissipate. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable but I did sleep good! This suite has lots of stairs to get to it so that was a challenge with luggage but we made it. The furnishings are old, in style with the house, but comfortable. There were fans in the rooms which was nice. We arrived late at night and got the last private parking spot, which is also a walk to the house but doable. Breakfast is served 8:30a-9:30s and we went down about 9a. There were no seats available, the hostess came and apologized and told us the breakfast menu for the day. Bacon was on it and I LOVE some bacon. Finally got seated, breakfast arrived, no bacon, they were out of bacon! Dissatisfaction! After breakfast talked with inn hostess and told her we didn't need our room cleaned but could use some clean towels and trash taken out. She said ok, she would do it and then hang a rope across the steps to let the housekeeper know we didn't need service. Then we left for the day. Got back late, clean towels, trash not emptied. Next day, left the rope down, left for the day, got back late, no clean towels, trash still not emptied. Oh, and we went down to breakfast by 8:30 to make sure we got seats and food! I'm There is a small fridge in the dining area with ice in baggies and you can store something small but that's it. They do have coffee/tea and small snacks t/o the day and night. This place is clean but not exceptionally clean, the outside grounds were nice but not exceptionally nice. Which I feel is the theme for this place, everything is nice and comfortable but not exceptional. Back to the breakfast, they make your breakfast and serve you, there are no options, you get what they are serving. The food was good. Would I stay here again? If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. The living room was cozy, but we never got a chance to hang out in it -- due to guests already lounging in the space. Be advised that Tom likes to hang out and play on the desktop computer at the foot of the stairs (solitaire is his favorite) -- so don't be surprised. Haha. The hallway fridge (opposite from the living room) was stocked with beer, wine, and soda -- an awesome gesture of hospitality for us tired folks after 6 hours of driving! We stayed in the Foxglove room. The walls were painted a dark, Christmas-tree green and the emergency map was drawn out in Sharpie -- it felt off and the fact that the map was drawn in marker was sketchy. The TV was mounted in the top corner of the room, with a DVD player that didn't work. There was also a bear stuffed animal sitting on the heater unit by the window -- cute, but a little creepy. Unfortunately, the wireless signal in the room wasn't great -- had to go downstairs to get access. One of my favorite aspects of our stay was the 7am coffee that Tom would bring up -- really warm-heartening. Tom stays in a room downstairs, back by the kitchen -- so it's nice to have someone always there. He has a gruff personality, but he's happiest in the kitchen, whipping up delicious food in his silly pants (with patterns such as multi-colored chili peppers). Michele wasn't too friendly and kept mostly to herself. I wish she had attempted to socialize more with us and our fellow house-mates. The dining room was lovely -- the morning light streaming in through the windows is enough to make you sigh happily as you sip on your steaming coffee. There's a little sticker or token on the surface of the glass door in the dining room. I asked Michele about it, and she said that they once had a visitor run into the door -- so this is why it's there. I really appreciated that there were some two additional tables besides the communal table. Tom was an AMAZING chef -- food was gourmet and plentiful! He also is more than happy to answer any questions about the food or cooking in general -- it is his passion. Best part of this B&B was the large porch with ample seating and the gorgeous grounds. Also, Downtown Asheville is not even a mile away -- so you won't have to travel far to grab some grub or a cold one.
