My wife and I loved our stay at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast. The entire staff was so accommodating and made us feel at home. Diana was welcoming and attentive to every detail. Sara in the kitchen is an amazing cook and went out of her way to accommodate a picky eater. It was delicious along with the evening treats every night. Brittany and Kelly were also so nice and added to a wonderful stay. The front porch was a favorite with swings and the grounds are beautiful. We stayed here for our honeymoon in July. The service and attention you receive is defiantly 5 stars. Breakfast was delicious each morning. At night they had a cocktail hour with wine and horderves. It was great spending time with the owner and other guests. The location was one reason we stayed here. You can easily walk to downtown Asheville. We stayed in the Miss Webb room which was bright and sunny. The room was cleaned nicely every day and at night they leave you a sweet treat. I would stay here again. read more

Very well run B&B! Sara has perfected how to make guests feel welcomed, comfortable and informed. She left fresh pastries on our nightstand every night. She was also very helpful with giving great restaurant recommendations, sharing her recipes and making us feel at home. We ordered Biltmore tickets through her and it was as seamless as 1,2,3. She was very welcoming and discreet. Sara made appetizers every night which were served with wine in the parlor...great way to meet other guests and unwind. Every bedroom has a gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub which made for a very relaxing and romantic getaway. Asheville was only a few minutes drive and had lots of coffee shops, cafes and unique shops. We also went to Nine Mile for dinner (couple blocks walk from Carolina B&B) and were very impressed!! The house itself was comfortable with a large front porch and porch swing to enjoy the Southern atmosphere. The house is in a very safe neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again. This was by far our best B&B experience yet!! read more

Diana and Kevin are amazing hosts. Breakfasts were always delicious, varied and filling. The home is beautiful and the bed had what may be the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. The location can't be beat, close to everything and only about a mile walk to downtown. We stayed during a snowstorm and Kevin helped us get our car (which doesn't have all-wheel drive) out of the driveway. Diana called to check on us to make sure we got home safe in the bad weather. We were thankful for all their hospitality. Can not recommend enough! read more

James and Susan are lovely and well traveled hosts. The location, on a leafy residential street, is close enough to walk downtown. Asheville is uber trendy now but mostly in a good way. Lots of brew pubs and some upscale restaurants as well. As other reviewers have noted, James is a masterful guide to the area - his hike recommendation was spot on for us. Our room was very comfy, quite large and it was still cool enough to sleep with open windows. Breakfast was edible art. For us, the experience was all good. We had such a wonderful stay! We stayed in the cottage which allowed you to have complete privacy while enjoying all the benefits of a B&B. I believe this place goes for about 170 a night. We were lucky enough to get a free room they were providing for veterans (my wife not me) for free for Veterans day. The place is great. We walked upstairs into our room that had its own bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and pillows that were nice to sleep on. The hosts were amazing. The breakfast that was provided was very good. Fresh Fruit, Belgian waffle (light fluffy yet crunchy like it should be), fruit juices, and coffee. If you are looking for a good night sleep and don't want to worry about what you will get at a corpo hotel then you need to stay here. read more

This was the most exquisite B and B I've ever used. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The host and hostess were accommodating, friendly and informative. The house and its history are interesting and the decor is perfect. We had breakfasts, that were gourmet, and served impeccably. The wine and appetizers each evening were amazing. Stay at this bed and breakfast!! The Carolina Bed and Breakfast was hands down the highlight of our trip to Asheville. It wasn't just a place to stay, it was part of the experience. We took out time lounging on the porch with their 5:30pm wine and hors d'oeuvres. Each night we were excited to come home to sweet treats Susan had prepared for us in our rooms. Every morning was a new and delicious breakfast. The historic home's setting was beautiful and reminded us of a sweet Victorian home. Sleeping in the beautiful hummingbird room with its fireplace and open windows made us feel like we had gone back in time. James and Suzan were incredibly gracious and professional hosts. They have thought of everything from a fridge with midnight snacks to spa robes in the bedrooms. I highly recommend staying at this Bed and Breakfast for your Asheville visit! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Carolina Bed and Breakfast this March (2012). Susan and James (the owners) are fantastic hosts. James had excellent suggestions for things to do, offering a great hike for us complete with map and directions when we said we wanted to see some waterfalls. The breakfasts, cooked by Susan, were delicious every morning with good coffee and an opportunity to get to know the other guests. Afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres were always tasty and relaxing, and the treats waiting for us in our room at night we learned to look forward to - brownies, lemon bars, and cupcakes. A fridge stocked with water and sodas as well as a Keurig and kettle were available for coffee or tea anytime. They also have books and dvd's to borrow while there (dvd player in each room). Walking downtown takes about 15 minutes and is pretty easy. We only drove to get out of town and when it was raining. Lower priced than many other B&B's, the quality was definitely top-notch with nothing missing. Bottom line: I would definitely recommend this B&B to friends and family, and we will probably be back ourselves in the future. read more

This is the absolute BEST place I have ever stayed. My mom and I came here for a very last minute trip and despite the short notice, Diana and Kevin were ready for us (even Including some dietary restrictions). The rooms were beautiful and extremely cozy. The best part was that Diana is an incredible cook. We came to Asheville for the food but didn't end up eating out nearly as much as we expected because we didn't want to miss her delicious breakfast and social hour appetizers. Oh, and I can't forget the dessert that was left I our room for when we returned each evening. Kevin and Diana were such welcoming and personable hosts and made our trip one that we will never forget . The ONLY thing that could have made our visit better is if we could have stayed even longer. This place is terrific! It's within walking distance of downtown Asheville yet tucked away in a quiet, classic neighborhood. It's also two blocks from one of the best restaurants in the city, 9 Mile. My husband and I stayed at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast over Labor Day weekend. We are tough critics, and we highly recommend this place. The house sleeps six couples, and is situated very close to town. All of the restaurants and shops in downtown are within walking distance of the house. James and Sandy, the owners, are gracious hosts and great cooks. The nightly rate includes tasty breakfasts and a generous happy hour with appetizers and wine. Foodies will be delighted by this B&B's creative and delicious recipes! James is a gracious host and offers recommendations for guests looking for Asheville advice. The rooms are clean, quiet, and air conditioned. The house is tastefully decorated and what one would expect from an Asheville B&B. We appreciated the small touches...NYTimes newspaper every morning, free bottles of water and diet cokes, and biscotti and candy snacks available throughout the day. My husband and I stayed in the Robin's Nest - a peaceful quiet room overlooking the flower garden. The bed is comfortable and supportive, which afforded us both a good night's sleep. James and Susan were stellar. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The food is truly wonderful, you can tell they are foodies. More than anything, though, it is the hosts of the Carolina Bed & Breakfast that impress. They are friendly, have excellent advice on dining and other activities in the area, and go above and beyond when assisting their guests. My husband and I stayed in the Mockingbird suite for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time. We had car troubles while there, and James drove us out to his mechanic and back while we sorted out the problem. We also stayed at a few other places in the area during the trip (including the Inn at Biltmore), but the Carolina B&B was by far our favorite. James and Susan have created in the Carolina B&B a beautiful, welcoming home rather than simply an inn. read more

My girlfriend and I visited Asheville for the first time, and we were told the way to go was to stay at a B&B. Neither of us had experienced staying at an Inn, but we were up for anything! James and Susan could not have made our stay any better -- they definitely set the bar high. James greeted us as we arrived and gave us the run-down on everything. We had made dinner reservations prior, but James gave us great suggestions on what to do before and after dinner. He takes a lot of pride in the city and wanted us to experience it to the fullest. After getting a tour of the house, Susan put out some of the most amazing appetizers, along with wine, for a nice happy hour on the porch. When we arrived home that evening, we had a plate of homemade brownies waiting for us in our room. They really do it right, the bed was the most comfortable bed ever -- even more comfortable than the "Heavenly Bed" at the Westin. The next morning, we expected a good breakfast, but Susan blew our expectations out of the water! She is an amazing chef and cooks up all sorts of deliciousness for breakfast each morning. My wife and I stayed at Carolina Bed and Breakfast last weekend, and we cannot say enough good things about our experience there! We had a small vacation planned as a "babymoon" because our daughter is expected to arrive in four weeks. Everyone had been telling us to take one last trip as a couple, so my wife found Carolina B&B online and booked the Cottage for us. This was our first time at a B&B, and from the experience we had, it will definitely not be the last. James and Sarah are gracious, attentive hosts that make you feel like family from the minute you arrive. Again, we had the small cottage behind the main house and were absolutely thrilled with it; king size bed, small kitchenette (stocked with bottled water and sodas), and a bath tub big enough to swim laps in. There were fresh baked holiday treats left for us both nights (mince pies on Friday and chocolate peppermint whoopee pies on Saturday) that could have come from a gourmet bakery. Saturday morning breakfast was honey glazed poached pears with a crust of crushed nuts as a starter, and the main course was a butternut squash quiche and sausage patties served with cranberry muffins. We slept in on Sunday so we didn't make breakfast, but James even offered to bring it to the cottage for us. Chef-inspired appetizers and wine were offered at 5:30 each evening and again it was amazing. James was on hand to give us advice on dining, parking, and sightseeing. It was also extremely interesting to have James talk to us about the décor inside the main house -- some of it being family heirlooms and some of it having been acquired from James and Sarah's time living abroad. Our rental package included tickets to the Biltmore to see the Christmas décor, and James set all of that up for us, too. All in all we had an amazing weekend at Carolina B&B! The place was beautiful and our hosts were absolutely perfect. Every part of our time spent here was well above what we expected it to be. We look forward to returning here again and again! read more
