They have the cutest little novelty chocolates and a decent selection of candies. I picked up a little hammer, saw, puppies, lipstick, peanut butter hearts and some other cute chocolate items. Popped by this sweet little store tonight on the hunt for some gourmet chocolate to bring to a friend this weekend. I was specifically looking for something local rather than going to a chain chocolate store. The store is tucked behind a Taco Bell and next to a Dollar General, so I wasn't sure as I stepped through the door. But I was pleasantly surprised by the cute little shop that greeted me. Chocolates of all sizes and types were laid out on tables. Everything was labeled (always appreciated) and priced clearly. There were all kinds of chocolates -- dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, dipped, molded, filled, etc. There are truffles and chocolate bunnies and also an astounding array of items that would be perfect for Easter baskets in pretty pastel colors. (It is currently late March.) My husband and I took our time browsing the small shop... There is plenty to look at. Along with the chocolates, there are also other interesting treats like toffees and chocolate dipped pretzels. We didn't know until we checked out that there were samples at the counter :-) We really enjoyed the salted caramels, though there was a LOT of caramel inside each one -- good or bad, you decide. We also found a nice box of chocolate turtles for our friend and wound up buying her some toffee too because we couldn't pass it up. Me, I'm a sucker for haystacks, so I bought some of those for me... yet to try, but they look wonderful. The service was great and totally no-pressure while we shopped. But as we checked out a second woman came out from the back (owner I believe) and then insisted on handing us samples and telling us all about products we had already passed up. I appreciated her eagerness and her personal attention -- I believe she was coming from the right place. But at that point I had made my decision and was ready to go. She also told us that they make many of the chocolates right in the back of the shop -- the kitchen is apparently housed in the back of the shopping center. But not EVERYTHING is made in house. Just something to know. They also have a loyalty club, so be sure to get a punch card when you go the first time. Oh, and they have a selection of sugar-free treats for people who are watching their sugar or are diabetic. That's about it... a nice, sweet shop and a great local addition to our business scene. read more

Why haven't I found this sweet little shop sooner!? I live right down Lexington and have never even noticed it! It's located right in the middle of a small strip of shops. I stopped in just to check out what they have and potentially find some cute decorative chocolates for an upcoming graduation party. I was greeted right away and shown all the graduation options they have to offer. After picking out the chocolates I think we will go with, she went in the back and re-wrapped the chocolate in the matching foil colors for the school. You can place an order and choose the foil for no additional fee. How nice is that? So while she was in the back I browsed the shop and found lots of goodies! I ended up buying some flavored caramels. I got the raspberry chocolate which was okay. I got an orange flavored caramel which was DELICIOUS! I will definitely buy more of those! I also got a beer & pretzel caramel! I just had to try it! It sure did have a beer taste with some pretzel pieces right in it! I wouldn't buy them as a treat, but I'm glad I tried it!! I could have spent a lot more time and money in this shop, but I know I will be back soon anyways. I highly recommend this shop if you're looking for a sweet treat for.. This place is cute, but small. Service is friendly, and chocolates are bountiful. While there is a wide selection here of chocolates, you won't find anything new or interesting here. They have boxed sets, chocolate dipped nuts, candies, and cookies. That's about it. I was specifically hoping to get some chocolate dipped strawberries, but no luck here. We bought some of the toffee, peanut butter cups, and oreo cookies, as well as some salted choc. caramels. Everything here tastes good, but not gourmet. The choc. covered english toffee was my favorite, but I would also recommend the salted choc. caramels. Don't bother with the peanut butter cups. Glad we tried it, but no real reason to come back. read more

This place is truly incredible, I had no idea you could make so many things out of chocolate ? I personally love the Chocolate covered Jalapenos, I just have to wonder who thought of that, and how did they think of that ? Their Dark Chocolate is to die for !!!! My daughter surprised me with my favorite salted caramel milk chocolate caramels today. She knows these are my absolute favorites. Today I was disappointed. First that the 8 triangles were priced at $11.50. I could have dealt with that knowing that I would just buy them less often since they have gone up $3 in what seems like a short amount of time to me. The worst part was after I took one out of the box...although the flavor was the same amazing flavor I have loved, they were like half the size they used to be. Seriously maybe half as thick. So disappointing! Come on Sweet Chocolat....where is your integrity? I have sent many, many people to this place and additionally I have given your chocolate away as gifts many times. I can no longer do either if you are going to raise the price and additionally compromise the size of the pieces. It just isn't worth it. read more

This quaint, local candy shop has so many delectable chocolates to choose from you won't be able to quit tasting or looking at all they have to offer. There are so many different chocolate molds to peruse, from the Eiffel Tower to handcuffs (oh naughty!); and even more tastes to sample! The owner let us try homemade chocolates filled with caramel and sprinkled with sea salt on top for a savory, sweet mix, chocolates filled with coconut and also chocolates filled with key lime! They were all so good we walked out with more than a few! read more

I've driven past here a million times without checking it out-but with Christmas, and a groupon, my husband and I stopped in for some candy store fun. Lots of samples, great service, and a great local chocolate store! They had some great gift boxes for Christmas, and had lots of fun hard-to-find candy-like candy necklaces and pop rocks. This is a very cute little (and hidden) place. The selection is limited and it is often busy so getting help is sometimes a process if you're visiting on a weekend. I wish they would bring back their wedding gifts. They used to have a cute selection of Mr. and Mrs. stuff and unfortunately no longer do. read more

OMG...this little store is awesome! I will be doing ALOT of Christmas shopping here, I think my mom would appreciate a chocolate rat - yes, that is correct a chocolate rat!! Their peanut butter cups made me swear off Reese's forever...lol. The chocolate-covered macadamia nuts were yummy. The staff was very nice...I will be back to buy some truffles soon!! read more

I went to this store on the 12th of February and had such a horrible experience. Myself and my 6 year old little boy went in with the hopes of buying something special for my husband/ his dad, and his 3 year old brother. The store is small and I saw no fresh chocolate. Everything was in bulk and looked like it came out of a box. This is a wholesale place, folks, It didn't look like they don't make their own stuff. When we walked in we were not greeted and only got an icy look form a lady who worked there, however, was too busy gabby with older customers her own age. Apparently she was too busy gossiping with her friends to help us. Every store has their own system of collecting goods. I had to ask how it was done here. She gave me a cold look and literally told me to "put your chocolate in this basket. Bring your basket up front. I will ring up your basket then." Like I was the village idiot. Her tone was beyond rude. We spent about 4-5 minutes looking. My son is young. And with being young he has a young bladder. He told me he needed to use the facilities and that it was an emergency. The store is small enough that I'm sure the sales lady overheard. We walked up to the counter and were completely ignored by the woman still gossiping. I sat there and started at her for close to 2 minutes and only received a cold shoulder. When I finally spoke up and asked her if we could use the restroom for my child I was told "No, we don't have a public restroom." My child was holding himself it was that bad. When I informed her that it was an emergency and that he was 6 she told me that no, he could not, and to try the restaurant or the Walgreens all the way across the parking lot. no apology, no wavering. And here I am, a customer, with a child who is obviously in need. I was upset but stayed calm. I wasn't about to make a scene. I put my basket down and headed to door with my child. We both got outside and my child started to cry. He had an accident. It was freezing that day. So there I am with three snotty ladies oggeling out the window and a child who is now wet, cold, and totally humiliated. We got in our car and had a 10 minute drive home with him cold and wet and crying in the back of the car. I called the shop shortly after. I reminded the woman answering who I was. I told her that she should be ashamed of herself because of the situation. I told her that the owner should be ashamed of herself for operating a business like that, and that the owner should be ashamed of herself for having an employee on her staff like that. I let her know I would be writing a review on Yelp, and so I am. The woman on the phone didn't seem to care. Se started to tell me that it was their policy not to have a public restroom. That's fine. But an adult (probably their normal clientele) has a mature bladder. A 6 year old does not. Try some kindness and make an exception. Nor is it ok for a child to be made shamed like he was, nor is ok to deny a child a bathroom. She was completely rude and totally defensive. To give credit the owner did call me and did leave me a VM. She had the same tone as her employee. I'm not returning it. Why bother? I would most likely get more response and compassion from a turnip. So in short, by all means shop here. But know that you are supporting a business that operates on a pretty rancid business ethic. My suggestion is to go someplace where kindness is practiced and where they actually appear to give a d@mn about your business and human kindness. read more

A lovely shop with many, many wonderful gifts. I sampled several of their chocolates and caramels, all were very good. Very, VERY friendly and enthusiastic staff members. My only grip is that I wish they had a case with loose pieces of their chocolates to mix and match...they are willing to go into the store room to retrieve a few pieces, but I would rather be able to see it displayed. read more

I'm honestly torn on whether I like this shop or not. First of all, I'm all about supporting local business and I love the cute charm this little shop has, but I feel like their chocolate and other sweets are nothing special that I haven't tasted before. Like another reviewer said, some of the chocolate honestly tastes like chocolate coating, but some of their other items, like the sea salt caramels, are pretty good. Also, I have noticed that ALL of their truffles suspiciously look and taste exactly like the truffles that Abdallah Candies makes and they're even the same exact flavors. Either Sweet Chocolat is not very original in coming up with their own truffles, or they're copycatting other local businesses. read more

Way over priced for what you get. Way too expensive. I bought three candy bar size bags of turtles. They used what tasted like to me chocolate coating and not real chocolate. There is no ingredient label and nowhere is it said that these were anything but true 'pecan turtles'. Come to find out they use cashews which I do not care for. and if there caramel is homemade I won't believe it. I can make better turtles at home for a heck of a lot cheaper than $7.50 for one little candy bar size bag of turtles. No way in hell will I ever return. and they have no return policy on top of it. Don't waste your time. Russell Stover boxed chocolate is ten times better than this will ever be. read more
