We have been dealing with this issue since May. When I called to make this appointment at Atlanta Oral Surgery, Sugar Hill I was assured that my insurance through Delta Dental was accepted. Upon my arrival and check-in, not once did anyone say "Did you receive our message that we do not accept your insurance?" because I did not in fact receive any messages. Upon checking out, the billing person claimed they left a message in which I checked all the phones from my daughters to my husbands and no one had received any messages from your offices. Not once was I told upon check in that my insurance did not cover this visit. When I was checking out the lady said that my insurance did not cover anything and that she left a message for me and I looked at her and asked what number did she leave the message on and she read off some unknown number. I told her that is not my number and when I checked in, no one told me my insurance did not cover this visit. You all checked me in and said absolutely nothing. I called and explained this to Val and she informed me that I would not be charged due to the inability for their office to follow proper procedures and protocol. Several days later I received messages from Andrea in the corporate office and a bill from your offices that we owe these funds. Several months later after receiving a bill in the mail I called and spoke to Gerri and tried to explain this to her. The first appointment was very uncomfortable, the dentist seemed rushed and didn't want me to swallow as often as I needed to. I was sick with a sinus infection and tried to cancel the 2nd appointment on the Friday before a Tuesday appointment over a holiday weekend. They were very aggressive about wanting to charge me for the appointment. I decided to get a second opinion and actually got two other dentists to look at the photos and x-rays and they both said the so-called cavities were only stains and natural wear on the teeth and did not need treatment. I contacted Whitney Orthodontics and although I had to wait a couple of months for my first appointment (due to the holidays), it was 100% worth the wait. The staff was incredibly friendly, organized and efficient. I was provided cost estimates upfront which were accurate and a huge help to be able to plan financially. They were able to take imaging of my teeth and send the images to a lab to have my retainers made. Two weeks later, I was back in the office to receive them, along with a mold of my teeth to keep should I need retainers made again. Long answer: In any legitimate trade there are 3 levels of performance - professionals, experts, and masters. Too bad my husband took them this day - otherwise I'd have refused service - why are you completing work that's not warranted anyway? Even though I have agreed to pay this bill, that due to their negligence, they had the nerve to send me a 30 days past due notice. I'd already agreed with these people that I would pay $10 each month until January when my HSA was funded and they AGREED to this plan. Stay away from these people unless you just like being over charged, over serviced and just want to throw money away. I contacted the owner to look into this and my call was not returned.
