Dr. Parikh invested the time to come up with a treatment plan that aligned with my mom's insurance, to minimize her out of pocket costs while also minimizing disruption to her ability to easily use her teeth as these treatments happen over time. Both he and his wife (the other Dr. Parikh) are kind, caring providers, and it's clear their leadership in the practice carries over to everyone else, because everyone working there exhibits the same, thoughtful bedside manner. They took photos of my teeth and showed them to me on a large monitor to point out where I had tooth decay. Since there were so many "cavities" they divided the work into two appointments. The first appointment was very uncomfortable, the dentist seemed rushed and didn't want me to swallow as often as I needed to. I was sick with a sinus infection and tried to cancel the 2nd appointment on the Friday before a Tuesday appointment over a holiday weekend. They were very aggressive about wanting to charge me for the appointment. I decided to get a second opinion and actually got two other dentists to look at the photos and x-rays and they both said the so-called cavities were only stains and natural wear on the teeth and did not need treatment. Sadly, I had already paid for over $2K in unneeded and uncomfortable dental work.

I got sick and rescheduled an appointment--something most offices understand. But not here. I then noticed I was being overcharged for a crown procedure and decided to cancel altogether. That's when things got ugly. I was hit with a $4,200 "cancellation fee" for a service I never received. Yes, $4,200. And then they sent that outrageous bill to collections, deliberately damaging my credit. All for being sick and standing up for myself. At first, Dr. Curington comes across as warm and friendly, but that quickly fades if you question a service or refuse a recommendation. Based on what I've read in other reviews since, I'm not the only one who's experienced this kind of treatment. In my opinion, her concern is not your care--it's your money. Her staff reflects this as well, using pressure tactics and intimidation that no patient should ever deal with. After that nightmare, Magnolia Ridge Dental stepped up in a big way. Even though Dr. Curington refused to release my recent X-rays, Magnolia welcomed me, got me in immediately, and provided top-tier care--at a fraction of the cost. I truly cannot thank them enough. I've received nothing but excellent care the entire time. I've also been accommodated financially on more than one occasion when payment at the time of my visit would have presented a hardship. Thanks to our we-refuse-to-pay-for-that insurance providers and the materials and manufacturing side of dentistry, dental care of any kind is ridiculously expensive, we all know that. But I have never felt taken advantage of, duped into more treatment than I needed, or otherwise sucked in to something I would later regret. Dr. Carter had huge shoes to fill when he came. Change is always hard, but I have trusted him to take over where Dr. Davis left off and have not been disappointed. The practice has worked very closely with my periodontist, Dr. George Quintero, for the same 18-year period such that oral treatment I have received has been second to none. I am 62 and have every confidence that heeding my doctors' advice and recommendations will assure that I am not eating baby food from a jar as I enter old age in the next decade or two!

Recently, when scheduling an appointment for my elderly mother, we specifically asked whether they accepted her insurance. We clearly told them the name of the insurance and even sent a photo of her insurance card. The day before the appointment, the office called and texted to confirm. However, the morning of the appointment, they sent a message saying they do not take her insurance and that we could pay out of pocket instead. There was no apology and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, despite the time we spent preparing for the appointment and taking time off work. It was disappointing, especially given how long we've trusted this practice. I hope the office improves its communication and insurance verification process so other patients don't have a similar experience.

Long answer: In any legitimate trade there are 3 levels of performance - professionals, experts, and masters. Let's put it this way, when it comes to cosmetic dentistry, I would fly across the country to have her do the work because... 1. It's your face. 2. The tooth is the front left incisor so it's front and center every time you talk. I chipped it when I was 20 and the work was very good, however by the time I was 45 I chipped it again and I went through two other dentists who are professionals but they just couldn't get Humpty Dumpty back together. It kept chipping and the frustration kept growing until Dr. Murray stepped in. The fit-and-finish is perfect, you can't tell AT ALL, and the best part is she made it twice as thick and virtually bulletproof. I'm extremely confident to bite down and I can't say enough. In your mind you have the job you want done but you know it probably won't happen because you shoot extra high....and she hit that summit and surpassed it! This was surprising to me as I have been receiving dental care every 6 months for my whole life and haven't had a cavity in 10+ years. My prior dentist was in my hometown and someone I had been going to since childhood and was very familiar with my teeth. Because we had a good relationship with this dentist, my mom even asked them what they thought and they warned that I should get a second opinion. However, I was scared of having cavities, so went ahead with the fillings on Dr. Kearns recommendation ($400+ out of pocket for a college student). I was also told to buy an expensive specialty toothpaste in the office that retailed for half the price on Amazon. Over the next several months, I had horrific, constant dental pain where the fillings were. I couldn't eat anything on one side of my mouth for months. After about two weeks of pain, I went in for a revision, which did not help. Only now 6 months later I am starting to be able to eat on the other side of my mouth. I should note that I had no dental pain in this region before despite the diagnosis of three cavities. I should have switched after this, but had scheduled a 6 month cleaning immediately after my first appointment which crept up on me, so decided to just go in and do the cleaning. When I arrived, the front desk told me I had a balance of $170 that they were about to send to collections. I had not received a single text, email, or physical mail notifying me of my balance. I was able to pay this balance, but knowing that they were happy to send this to collections and potentially impact my credit score without any notification is a disgrace. The cleaning itself was fine, but my hygienist told me Dr. Kearns was very busy and when she came to check me out she barely spoke a word to me, only rattling off dental jargon to the hygienist. I will not be returning to Intown Dental Center. I have never had anxiety related to the dentist until now. The poor bedside manner, weaponization of authority to overprescribe procedures/sell you things you don't need, shoddy fillings, and lack of billing transparency all made this a horrible experience.
