I came here this afternoon with a friend and her daughter for some ice cream. Sweet Firefly had been on my radar for awhile and I was glad to finally be able to sample some of their offerings. Upon entering the shop, there were a bunch of people sitting outside enjoying their ice cream on their patio. Inside, people were scattered throughout. What? Packed on a Thursday afternoon? This must be good. I sampled the bourbon vanilla and the toffee coffee and decided on the coffee toffee in a waffle cone. The ice cream was delicious and the little shop had so much character. Service was quick and friendly. I wish they had a few more flavors, but I will definitely come back again. Support local :) read more

What sets this place apart is the quality of ice cream and the incredible taste each bite. Dairy isn't exactly my best friend, but my Sweet Firefly two scoops of Oreo and Chocolate Peanut Butter was worth every single bite! My hubby also enjoyed every bite of his Sea Salt Caramel and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Seriously, the quality of every bite was incredible. I've made my way through many an ice cream shop and the oreo, peanut butter and chocolate are top notch. LOVE this ice cream! My family lives 20 minutes away, but we make the drive for it. The ice cream is incredibly smooth and not overpoweringly sweet like some other places. The scoops are very generous. I think the best deal is to share 2 scoops with someone because 1 scoop is $3.50 whereas 2 scoops is $4.50. read more

The Birthday Cake ice cream here is the BEST of the flavor I've ever tried. Whenever I get ice cream, I always opt for Birthday Cake flavor if it's available; so, I'd like to say I have a pretty good sample size of ice cream shops to compare Sweet Firefly to. The Birthday Cake ice cream here has bits of cake batter (and sprinkles, of course) throughout the ice cream, making for the perfect consistency and texture. For the quality of the ice cream, the prices here are super agreeable! read more

The ice cream is good, but the prices are a bit too high. If you are comfortable spending a lot on ice cream I'd recommend it. If you are a bit budget conscience this isn't the ice cream place for you. read more

This is a really great ice cream spot. Their salted caramel flavor is out of the world and probably the best in the DFW area. Honey Lavender and Chocolate are also favorites! They used to have an amazing spiced chocolate flavor called "Cowboy Chocolate"- it's not currently available, but I hope they bring it back one day! They've adapted to the COVID situation by setting up a to-go style window in front of their shop. It's a really neat idea implemented well, and I'm glad they're a business that is taking the pandemic seriously. I usually don't comment on customer service, but the employees here are always so nice and helpful! Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their to-go pints. I ordered a cup of salted caramel ice cream as well as a pint of the same flavor. I'm not sure what happened since I ordered them both the same day, but my small cup ended up having more caramel than the entire pint. The pint was basically vanilla ice cream with little drips of caramel here and there- definitely a little disappointing when their caramel is so amazing. I'm hesitant to order pints in the future (hopefully it was just a weird batch that day), but overall I do highly recommend checking them out! read more

Awesome ice-cream! Cute little place in a quiet area. It's cozy. The guy let me try as many flavors as I wanted. Good thing I was the only one in there for a while. Then it got packed quick! There was a small gathering for a 4 year old's birthday where the manager came out and had everyone sing happy birthday to her. Ice cream is made locally across the street at a church. Real fresh, creamy, and high quality. Top three were the bourbon vanilla, beltline berry, and salted caramel. But I decided the first two would pair perfect. Worth the trip out! read more

Every time my husband and I are in the area...this is a must stop! I live for their sea salt caramel ice cream! I don't know what kind of crack is in there, but it's amazing! The staff is always really friendly and helpful. The serving size aren't humongous, but the quality of the product is impeccable. That sea salt caramel has such a smooth consistency and the perfect blend of salty and sweet. I can't wait to go back again, even if it's cold outside. read more

Love this place -- they have such unique flavors that WORK. Some of my favorites : Coffee Toffee Crunch Lavender Honey Bourbon Vanilla Raspberry Sorbet Lemon Vanilla Honestly, I can't say I dislike any of their flavors. The ice cream is made in house and is the perfect consistency and not overwhelmingly sweet. The waiters are super nice and will let you taste test as many flavors as you want (which is really nice for indecisive people like me). Honestly, there aren't that many great ice cream places in Dallas (which I would expect there would be more given the scorching sun here), but this is definitely one of them. If you haven't been here, you're seriously missing out. For my 200th review, I wanted to do an ode to a dessert that has been in my life for years, and that I dearly love. It's definitely my first love in the dessert book. So, take me back to my first love! Sweet Firefly is a special gem in the Overlook Park area of Richardson. Being next to Frankie's, it is the perfect place to indulge in your dessert stomach after a heavy meal at Frankie's. My favorite flavors here are the salted caramel, vanilla, and mango sorbet (for when I'm not wanting dairy). Each of these flavors provide a nice balanced taste with the appropriate amount of creaminess (or lack thereof). One of the aspects of the shop that also get me is the old town vibe it gives off. With the aesthetics of the area, great ice cream, and close to proximity to UTD, I cannot complain at all! That is the end of my 200th review! read more

In my never ending quest for the best ice cream in the USA, we found Sweet Firefly. Sweet Firefly is a small batch artisan creamery with some signature flavors and several seasonal,rotated flavors. They are using a 14% fat base and it allows for a luxurious creaminess. We came during a slow portion of the day due to the storm that was running through the area and had the opportunity to taste just about every flavor in the case. I didn't find one I didn't like. Their staples included the classic chocolate and vanilla as well as salted caramel and bourbon vanilla which were excellent but the standouts were the seasonal flavors such as the pumpkin cheesecake, cornucopia and the cinnamon. The pumpkin cheesecake had nice chunks of cheesecake and the pumpkin flavor was just like pumpkin pie. I even had the opportunity to sample the cherry jubilee. It is a vanilla ice cream with chocolate ripples through it and large cherry pieces. The large pieces of cherry combined with the rippled chocolate allowed each bite to be slightly different. The even better was that we got to meet Angie, one of the owners. It was easy to see the passion that goes into this place through talking with her about the ingredients and how their creamery has grown. This creamery is certainly a standout gem amongst the many places I have visited throughout the US and if I find myself back in Dallas, I'll be sure to make the trip. read more

Such a cute, dainty little ice cream shop. I really like the aesthetic here, especially with the many candy jars on the shelves. Ice cream is pretty decent. Rich and creamy. I personally don't like the sorbets that much since they taste a little too artificial. I like that the ice cream flavors switch out every so often so you can try something new each time you come. I also wish that it wasn't so expensive for how much you get and the quality of the ice cream. If I was spending $3+ on a small scoop of ice cream, I might as well go out and buy a big pint of organic all natural no artificial colors/flavors non GMO dairy free gluten free ice cream for the same price lol. Very nice staff and a relaxing feel and atmosphere ! There is a great assortment of candy from sour to chocolate! I ordered the snoball cup that comes with ice cream and shaved ice. The Bellini was tempting after trying the sample but I decided to try the black raspberry sorbet and tutti frutti which was amazing! The condensed milk topping was a nice touch. I loved the friendliness of the employees who had big smiles and welcomed us when we walked in. I really loved the ambiance right down to the quaint lighting, the inspiring handwritten messages on the walls and even the decorated pumpkins that the customers are encouraged to write on what they are thankful for!! The hand crafted ice cream was so rich, creamy and each one I tried was a celebration of flavor! It was so good I had to pick two flavors!!! Again, the customer service was so welcoming and took time to offer taste samples, explain the flavors and cared about our satisfaction. My family and I moved to Canyon Creek a little over a year ago. We walk to sweet firefly regularly. Sweet Firefly is a blessing to this community, and I couldn't imagine CC without it. Here are the two things we order on repeat: 1) The Birthday Cake ice cream. It is UNDEFEATED! 2) The sno-ball with Bourbon Vanilla ice cream and dreamsickle snocone! Gourmet Ice Cream shop with a really cool vibe to it. They have some interesting flavors that I would have never thought to put together, but they taste amazing together. Take the Cowboy Chocolate, it is chocolate ice cream with cinnamon added in and just a small hint of cayenne pepper. I almost did not try it, but was amazed when I did. When it comes to ice cream though I am a little more of a traditionalist, and they do the traditional flavors (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry) really well too! read more

Sweet Firefly is a hidden gem! It's tucked inside a cute shopping center and the feeling when you walk in the door is so welcoming! The workers are extremely friendly and will do what it takes to make sure you're satisfied. I am a big ice cream fan so I was very happy with the flavors & tastes of their varieties! (The bourbon vanilla is my favorite!) Besides ice cream, they also have shaved ice & a few choices of chocolates and candies for you sweet toothed peeps. I came in craving both ice cream AND shaved iced, and little did I know they have a choice that contains BOTH. It's called the sno-ball and comes in a large cup. EXTREMELY FILLING AND DELICIOUS. You can even add condensed milk to top it all off! I love the environment of Sweet Firefly and for the price, you get a filling amount of dessert! Sweet Firefly is a hidden gem! Nestled away in a tiny shopping Centre with a cozy and welcoming door, cute benches out the front and bubbly staff is the best (made on site) ice cream you'll ever try. The owners are local and are always happy to see new faces. Free samples of ever flavor is a must, they're all so good. My advice would be to try bourbon vanilla, sea salt caramel, raspberry sorbet, coffee toffee and ask if there are any secret or seasonal flavors that are a must try. My favorite personal design (you can mix and match even a single scoop) is to get half bourbon vanilla and half raspberry sorbet..... it's so good and reminds me of something from my childhood. I've never seen anyone leave this place unhappy, it's not just an ice cream shop, it's an experience.... and a very memorable one. read more

I love this cute little ice cream shop! The workers are always so sweet and welcoming. I believe they change their menu (besides the classics) every week/few weeks. I've been there a handful of times and I've tried many of their flavors. My favorite is the coffee toffee crunch and rocky road! Everything is homemade and made to perfection. If you are lactose intolerant, they have dairy free options as well! I haven't tried those yet but I bet those are just as good. Nearby are a few restaurants and a sitting area by trees and picnic tables. Also if you're a UTD student they give a 10% off discount!! Everytime my family visits me, I bring them here! Highly recommend! Please bring back the rocky road!!! read more

I love that they offer a variety of flavors. I'm a sucker for different flavors so I love trying their unique ones. I always recommend the lavender honey and bourbon vanilla to first-timers. Delicious ice cream!!!! One of my absolute favorites is their cinnamon ice cream. I wish Alamo Drafthouse still carried it at the theater. However, I will stop by Sweet Firefly from time to time to get a pint of their delicious ice cream to take home with me. My only complaint is the space is pretty small, so if there's a lot of customers it can get cramped. But don't let that stop you from taking some home! read more

The lady who helped us was as sweet as could be. The gift shop is located on the first floor of the home and had everything from candy, wooden horse toys, Santa figures, books and more. We both bought Swedish candy and I was able to sit in the original owners rocking chair. Mike B. bought a lot of delicious sweets. At least in the store you can see if the stuff you are buying is expired.

The space is small, it's open to regular customers to purchase some of the items such as the candy and popcorn, they can purchase the items at the register which is literally less than 12 feet away from you. For $115 per person, I don't think it's fair that you're practically having a tasting in a candy store. It would have been better if the tasting was in a separate area from where customers couldn't come buy the desserts. The tasting was good and as I said, you could tell time and effort had been put into it, I just feel as though the price does not equate to the experience. As stated below, there are better tastings for a cheaper cost. I understand that celebrities have experienced the same thing which adds a sense of luxury, but I'm paying for quality, not previous exposure.

As I was paying for the candy, he helpfully reminded me that they sold sodas too, and again they were much cheaper than the movies. I think at that point if he would have told me they had pigs that could fly for sale, I probably would have bought one of those too. I spent the next several hours adrift in a sea of chocolate bliss while I oohed and ahhed over the Joker.

We walked in (it was freezing) and the whole place looked like a Disney-ified version of the original Big Dash. There was one woman working, and she was very friendly, but what a different experience than mingling with the original owners in the unpretentious cozy ambience. The worst part is that the ice cream is nowhere near as good! The original Arabic ice cream's level of rose water was off and the ice cream's stretchiness felt less organically created. The pistachio was OK. Our daughter got this crazy container of small individual frozen fruit shapes that were covered in chocolate. Those felt cute and special and we liked them all except for the grape. Again, we're happy for Bigdash's success. They deserve it. But we will not be back again because what we loved so much about this place is no longer. Tis the American way, alas! Three stars and sincere best wishes to them.
