I have no idea whether they can cut hair or not because the online scheduling system is awful. First, you have to create an account with a scheduling company in a multi-step process that will likely result in spam email that you can't opt out of. Then, if you try to see whether appointments are available on particular days just for a generic hairdresser, you will get routed into $200+ haircut slots without the option to pick someone else, so it becomes a guessing game of which slot will cost which amount ($55+ is the stated offer, note that $55-75 is very different from $200+). I'm not interested in playing Guess How Much? for a dozen or more slots to try to find a hairdresser so I'll just use a place that can have a human schedule me during a 2 minute phone call. I was a bit nervous because I honestly wasn't too sure about what to do with my hair, I sometimes feel a bit self conscious especially when a hairstylist gives me professional "advise" on what to do with my hair. I recently had a haircut with Alexi and I think I found my new stylist! He seemed really knowledgeable about his craft and had great suggestions for what would suit my face/hair type when I walked in with only a vague idea of what I wanted. He seemed to use some pretty innovative techniques, which he was happy to explain why when I asked, and I loved the end result! He also went out of his way to give me some great styling tips using tools and stuff that I already owned, so I feel like every day this haircut is able to live up to its full potential. Alexi did a great job cutting my husband's hair a few weeks ago! We were feeling uncomfortable about getting a haircut inside at any barber shop or salon. Alexi came over to our house (no additional travel fee) and cut his hair outside on our patio. First haircut in 4 months. Alexi wore a mask (so did my husband), did a temperature check first, and gave him a much-needed haircut in the open air! Appointments were easy, he was communicative, and payment was through the salon's system on his phone (everyone hand-sanitized afterwards). I really love this place! I have come here several times and I enjoy the conversations I have with Clare, the cut I get, and the great products they use. They are a Davines salon, which I researched a lot after my first visit. It's a natural brand from Italy, and the results are as good as more mainstream brands. The first visit we did a chop to make sure all my hair was healthy, and this time I got the most amazing layers. I haven't gotten any treatments yet, but my cuts are around $60, which is some of the most affordable in the area. Also this place is sooo cute inside (this is obviously not as important as the cut, but seriously cute). I also really enjoy the height of the shampoo areas, no neck cramping during a rinse! So if you are interested in good conversation, a good hairstyle, and natural products, I would highly recommend! read more

I took my daughter to see Alexi and he did an amazing job with her hair. He colored her hair red faded to pink. We also took advantage of the Brazilian Blowout special they were running. She has a lot of hair so it took a long time and he was very patient through all of it. It is absolutely beautiful and my daughter loves it! I can't say enough wonderful things about this place and Alexi. He went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. You can tell he really loved his job. They really mentor their team and demonstrate that in the collaborative learning environment I witnessed from my two appointments. What a fabulous experience! Today I got a much needed haircut after months of quarantine. Scheduling online was easy breezy. I saw Angelina today and was so happy with her exceptional skills! I told her what I wanted and boy did she deliver. I told her I wanted a healthy trim with about 2 inches cut off. She suggested a few things and I appreciated her professional insights. She delivered exactly what I wanted. The salon is beautiful, light and airy. I appreciated all the precautions and sanitation they are implementing in light of Covid. Everyone had a mask on inside and they provided them if you don't have one. The location is right in the heart of Kensington with ample street parking. MY REVIEW THEY HID FROM GOOGLE REVIEWS WHEN I CALLED OUT THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL RESPONSE My first experience with them was wonderful so it pains me to give them a bad review. I went in for a haircut/blow dry with Jules. She was great. She knew my previous hair stylist who moved to California who is now a famous PulpRiot stylist. I really liked the location and booking on a Sundays. One odd thing was they didn't robe me or towel my neck when they washed my hair so water was trickling down my neck. I also got splashed in the face a couple times. Not enough to complain about it. I was happy and booked my 13 yr old son to get a cut. His hair is afro curly and he loved it. I booked an appointment with Jules for haircut/color in Sept. Ok so lets get to why this is a 1 star rating. My daughter came to visit from Canada and wanted a Balayage. I immediately told her about Jules and booked an appointment. She had a photo of what she wanted and we were excited. Her appointment was at 10am. 4 hours later she texted me very unhappy with the outcome. I couldn't believe it. This made me upset. I wasn't sure if she was overreacting so I had her send me photos then FaceTime me so I can get more detail. I asked if Jules asked certain questions at consultation or at any point did she ever say it was hard to pull color from her hair OR if the look could not be achieved. Neither was said. My daughter has light brown hair. I'm not an expert but I've had my hair colored pink, purple, highlighted, etc done by hair stylists that would be upfront and honest with any issues. My daughter proceeded to tell me that Jules consultation lasted seconds and kept asking her co-workers how to do highlights because she COULDN'T REMEMBER! I understand stylists consult with each other but when she mentioned one of the foils fell out of her head and onto her pants, I was done. She took a photo and said its ok cuz her leggings are old. To me it doesn't matter if they are old or new, the fact that bleach ruined your clothing is straight up careless! I called the hair salon to let them know and was cordial and nice. I don't like confrontation and avoid it at all possible. They seemed concerned and said Jules will call me back. Well Jules never called me nor did the salon. When I finally got home, I noticed there was a few tiger stripes and the back was very uneven. It looked real SLOPPY. I called the salon to first let them know Jules never called me back and if I could bring my daughter down there to show them her hair. They agreed. When I got there, the 2 owners were the only ones there - hmmm where was Jules and why didn't anyone call me back??? They immediately put on fake smiles and wanted to book another appointment. HOLD UP First am I paying for this? - obviously a NO and second, Look at what your employee did so you can make sure it doesn't happen again especially when I come for my appointment! I showed them the sloppy blending and tiger stripes. They said it was well blended but did notice some off parts. They made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. They were very intimidating and brash. I could feel their tension and felt sick to my stomach. I could have mentioned the bleach incident but at this point I was too upset. Why am I being treated like this? This place is 5 stars and I thought everyone here was nice. Anyways my daughter went back the next day. Once again Jules was asking how to do stuff and other co-workers were doing the work for her. She did mention some of the other stylists were super nice but still not a good experience. Her hair is better but her ends are damaged and still did not achieve what she really wanted. She is unhappy and I feel terrible. I wasn't there with her both times and going by her testimony BUT I can say my experience with Jules not calling back to the owners reactions towards me, tells it all. I unfortunately cancelled my upcoming appointment which really sucks because I was so happy to find a salon so close to home and what I thought would be the perfect place for my new hair adventures :( read more

This is my second time visiting this salon. I have never found "my salon" before. Always bounced around. But finally I have found my place!! The vibe, staff and mission of the salon is perfect and beautiful. Very aligned with the type of place I want to support. Kylie, the owner, is so helpful and does everything she can to give you the hair you want. And alexi (my hair stylist) is the most ideal. I go for a colour. Each time I have visited, I have brought pictures of the exact colour I want. And both times, the colour ended up matching perfectly! Alexi (my hair stylist) worked for so long on my colour the first time! It did not come out as I had hoped when he first coloured it so he spent another 2 hours with me to make sure it was right. Then on the second visit, a similar thing happened (I like a specific colour of red, and red is SO hard to get exactly right). Both times, Alexi worked out his schedule to either have me stay longer or come in the next day to make sure the colour was what I had hoped. To be honest, both visits, the colour it turned out initially was beautiful! But just not what I had in mind. So it was so incredible of Alexi to still work with me to get it aligned with my particular vision. I have had this happen with other salons before who just basically say "oh well" when it doesn't turn out like the picture. Or they charge an incredible extra amount to fix it. But Sweet Hairafter did not :) Alexi is officially my hair stylist. So grateful to have found him. From his attitude to his execution, couldn't ask for more. read more

I have had my hair cut and colored by Kylie for the past 6 years! She is the best and totally worth it. She has an amazing ability to make sense of what I want and then actually make it happen. Over the years I have brought pics of colors and cuts and she somehow is able to make whatever I rip out of a magazine of copy from pinterest work for me. Other times, I have simply explained that I just need something different and she is able to work with me and find something that I end up loving. I have colored my hair all shades of blonde/brown, grown my hair long, then chopped it all off and grown it back out again and through all of it I have been very happy with the results due to Kylie! I just had my second appointment with Kylie and I can't say enough about how talented she is. The first time I visited she did color, highlights and cut. I have never gotten so many compliments in my life! Then, I came back six weeks later and like some kind of magical hair wizard she was able to simply touch up my roots, add a quick glaze and cut off a few split ends in the front and it looks incredible again. I've been getting my hair colored and cut as well as occasional Brazilian Keratin treatments for my unruly hair with Sunny Oh for the past year and she is the bomb.com. She saved my at home over-processed hair from myself and restored it to healthy shiny fabulousness. I'm on my way to going blonde and she's taking me there in steps, each appointment taking my previously dark brown locks to a honey blonde/light brown now without damage, I can't wait to go lighter at my next appointment. I came in for a color process after my hair had faded quite a bit from prior coloring and it also had some unsaturated pieces in the back of my head. Mary Ann knew exactly what I was going for and we were completely on the same page! She was very kind and knowledgeable. Afterwards, Alexi gave me a shampoo and applied my toner.
