I usually order the vieja ropa (I think that's what it's called) it's a steak with onions, I get it with congee (rice and beans) and sweet plantains... When I come to a city my rule is to not try any restaurant or establishment that I can get back home in Cleveland. Today, I visited Sweet Havana in Toledo. The food, I say with absolutely no hyperbole, was fantastic. The staff was nice and I even met the owner as he came over to our table and chatted with us for a little bit. It was so good, that today as I dropped my friend off who lives in Toledo, I'm stopping by again to get another roast pork dinner, after visiting the restaurant on Sunday. The drink I had was delicious which was a pina colada, but it did take a while due to the full restaurant, but I didn't mind. As I said. I'm back again 2 days later for the roast pork dinner, that should tell you all you need to know about how good this restaurant is. Five stars read more

My husband & I stopped here for an early lunch on our way through town. From the warmth and attentiveness of the staff to the delicious food, this place is a real treasure. It is also spotless! We arrived a few minutes before opening and even the area outside smelled freshly cleaned. My only regret is that we don't live closer, so we could eat here more often. First time here which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We were seated and drink order was given. We made our chooses from a very full menu. Leo our waiter was helpful, polite and professional. FACT 1: Toledo needs more Cuban food. FACT 2: Sweet Havana fits the bill. FOOD: The food is pretty good. Is this the best Cuban food I've ever had? Nope. Is this the best Cuban food that I've ever had in Toledo? Probably. I've been here twice. Both times I placed takeout orders. The Ropa Vieja was very good. It was flavorful, spicy enough, and filling. I'd recommend that you top it with a little home made red sauce, and have it served over rice. Excellent dish! I will admit that I was a disappointed by the picadillo. IMO, it needed to be a little sweeter and a little less greasy. It, too, would have been better if served over a bed of rice. The yuca was better than expected, and the plantains were excellent. Also, I didn't see empanadas on the menu. Weird. Service: The service was excellent. On both occasions, I walked in, placed my order, and was on my way in less than 10 minutes. Everyone was friendly, and my order was right. Atmosphere: The owner has put some money and effort into making Sweet Havana comfortable. The TVs showing street action in Cuba are a nice touch. Great music. Soooooo. I plan to come back soon (the menu is full of great sounding items), but I'll probably skip the picadillo. So far, I'm giving Sweet Havana 5 stars, 'cuz it's the best Cuban food in Toledo! read more

This should be 3-1/2 stars. The food was excellent. I hade the Cuban sandwich. It came with fries. Very good. The fiancée had the Cuban chicken. She said it was excellent. It came with black beans and rice and yucca. We had the yucca fries for an appetizer and it is delicious. I would have given it more stars put they were a little slow. Mojitos were the best! The service was impeccable. Unfortunately I go to restaurants for the food; we tried the Empanadas. Couldn't find much meat in two of the three. The shell was rock hard, and I mean rock hard. Couldn't cut it with a knife. We stopped trying to eat them for fear of loosing a tooth. The Cuban sandwich had nice bread, roast beef had no flavor, and I think the ham was very thin sliced Oscar Meyer. As for ambience it was very loud. Every sound was amplified as it bounced off the metal ceiling and concrete floors. Very disappointing. We will not be returning.
