Yenci, the owner of Sweet Home Cleaning is very sweet and I appreciate her efforts to start her own business.
When I first interviewed Yenci, she informed me that she and 1 other person would do a "deep cleaning" of my house, spending 3-3.5 hours to clean and charge $171 (a discount from her normal $190 rate). After the initial deep cleaning, her biweekly charge would be $110.
So, on the first visit, Yenci showed up alone, stating that her employee had called in sick. What I expected (but did not communicate to Yenci), was that since she came alone, the deep cleaning would take longer than the 3-3.5 hrs. That didn't happen. She worked 3.5 hrs. and left my house without cleaning a second bathroom, cleaning multiple mirrors, dusting around items; not cleaning/dusting open kitchen shelves or kitchen cabinet doors. Basically, no attention to detail.
Prior to Yenci's second visit, I emailed and told her all of the above and hoped that her second visit would be better. On the second visit, again, no other employee and only Yenci cleaned for 3.25 hrs. Again, no attention to detail; some items were not cleaned or dusted, the open kitchen shelves were filthy; covers on couches where neither cleaned nor straighten.
Listen, everyone can charge whatever they want; however, I am angry at myself for agreeing to pay $171 for a so-called deep cleaning and then again agreeing to pay another $110 for a regular so-so cleaning on a 1000 sq. ft. housed cleaned. That came out to $281 or $46 an hour, for 7 hours of house cleaning. read more
