Cute, very small bakery. Not many items available, but seems fresh. They have had sale items for goods that are second day, etc. I bought a couple of their mega cookies. Both were good. I preferred the s'more to chocolate chip. At $3 each, definitely reasonable for the size of cookie!! read more

Not at this bakery. I've tried their version 3 different times and each time the cookie shatters at first bite and is hollow in the middle of each cookie layer. This bakery is located right outside the Mayo clinic. It should be noted that it is closed on Sundays and Mondays. I have been to this bakery three times in the last two weeks and overall I was impressed. They have breakfast sandwiches and quiche is available in the morning, however; they do not have have vegetarian options. During my last visit I did ask about a meat free option and they were able to make one and set it aside for me for the next day. They get a star for that alone. In fact, their customer service has been pretty spot on each visit. Throughout the week they had different customized sugar cookies that were decorated in various designs. I was able to grab cookies on almost every occasion and drop them off at the hospital for the nurses. This is a pretty great location and I wouldn't think twice about returning during my next visit. read more

I had the kouign amman but I found it dry and lackluster. We also tried the chocolate chip cookie which was huge and we're not impressed. I would have rated them a three based on those two items, but my boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy for breakfast and that was actually really good. I was not confident in the biscuit as I watched our server cut it in half - it just didn't look very tender or flaky. Okay, I love local bakeries. Hard work and honest results always makes the scone, donut, cookie, turnover, danish, and other items that much better. In this case, you can taste the handmade dough and toppings which results in a great tasting treat. There is not a huge selection, but what they do have is all good. The space is small and only one table, with no wifi, and no plug ins for tech gear, which is disappointing and why I gave it four stars. I would have also like to see more traditional varieties of donuts available (sourdough old fashioned). The arrive is friendly and proud of their work, which they should be. Service: My husband went to Sweet House Bakery yesterday afternoon and they were sold-out. Understandable, as it was afternoon. The person working told him to come before 9am to be able to buy donuts. Today my husband braved our cold, snowy Minnesota winter at 6:45am for donuts and pastries. There was not a donut/pastry to be found. He was told someone had been in earlier and wiped them out. Ummmm, we understand not wanting left over product at the end of the day but wiped out by one customer??? My husband said no matter how good the cinnamon roll and sticky bun were (at $5+/each) and how friendly the sales person was he will never bother to go there again. Well talk about customer service! I occasionally order the Friday donut special to be delivered to my grandchildren. It is a way to stay connected. I live in Florida and use to bring donuts by as a treat when they lived near me. When they moved to Minnesota, I was trying to find a way to keep this tradition going. I found Sweet House Bakery online in Rochester and started to take advantage of their Friday special. The kids are so excited when they are delivered and never know when I will surprise them. The staff accidentally missed my order this week, however my daughter-in-law just text me to say the manager realized the error and personally delivered the order herself this morning. The wedding cake Sweet House Bakery designed for our daughter's wedding was the amazing centerpiece it was planned to be. They not only mastered the almond taste and texture of the cake, they had the appearance down to every small detail that included the shimmer of the frosting. Jenyce and Tierynee's excitement for the event and their commitment to the successful outcome was reassuring. They took from conversations what the venue and traditional classic style of the wedding would be, as well as how the attire of the bride and groom would complement the overall design of the cake. The other detail was the temperature of the day which was very hot. They carefully planned to have the cake to the venue a day prior so that that it remained refrigerated without being transported in the heat on wedding day. Each cake tier contained three layers in the cake rounds. Upon cutting the cake for serving, it held together retaining its shape and not falling apart. The texture and taste was amazing with just a hint of almond and the right sweetness in the frosting. Thank you to Sweet House for a spectacularly classic wedding cake.
