Ordered ahead via grubhub. All of the pictures of the milk teas in the menu had bubbles (boba/tapioca) in the drinks. Ordered what I thought was two bubble teas and drove 20 minutes to get them. Picked up the drinks and got all the way back home and took the drinks out of the bag and there's no boba. I called and asked about it and she told me boba isn't included and I didn't add it as an extra so no boba. I'd understand if that's how the menu was laid out or if there was any indication of any difference between the two on the menu, but there isn't. The only thing there is to "add toppings", which I see now has boba in it, but when I ordered i had no idea that was a thing. No apology from her at all. Could have at least offered to remake them or add boba if I wanted to come back. Nothing. Cool. Won't be back. read more

I'm a novice to this type of cuisine, but I can see why it could become addicting. Fun fact, waffles and ice cream were wedded long ago. Where do you think an ice cream cone gets their waffle like ridges from? So when their houses adjoin again, Targaryens and Starks unite for a tasty fire and ice romance. But I digress, the waffles are sweet, hot and in a cup. I forgo the ice cream, since I'm trying to cut back on dairy. Or maybe it was that incest scene between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen that got me, I have to wait 2 years for new episodes of GoT, so cut me some slack. Dairy is in every dessert by the way, just like Targaryen blood. I didn't try the bubble tea, and I don't even know what that is. I'm also too lazy to do a google search to find out right now. It was a cold day, so I rocked with the hot chocolate. That was a solid move, really hot and really sweet. The vibes are clean and industrial, a cozy vibe would have added to the aesthetics. I'll chalk this up to it being the grand opening but this is not how you make Asian style black milk tea. I cant taste the black tea, they used regular milk and some sort of liquid sugar. I would guess theres about 60g sugar in this regular sized 12 oz cup. Way too sweet!! The boba is fresh but thats pretty basic stuff. This was the first boba place I went when I was in Lowell and I was not disappointed. I love their drinks but the only down side is most are made from powder. It was not too sweet which I like and the tapioca was good too. The workers was very friendly. So out of all the boba tea joints I've tried in the New England area as well as England's boba milk tea, hands down, Sweet Journey has THE best authentic original milk (black) tea boba. I'm only judging this O.G boba tea flavor cuz let's be honest, it's the only one that matters. Kung Fu's is too sweet and too expensive. ChaTime is similar to Kung Fu, too sweet but has a slight coffee/roasted after taste to it. I once waited in a ridiculously long line at an authentic Taiwanese Boba Tea shop in London and Sweet Journey's milk tea taste exactly like it. Light and not too sweet at all. If you compare the colors, milk tea should be the color of milk. If it's brown, it's too sweet. All hail the mighty BOBA!!! read more

Came here for the first time today. Pretty quick service (I went around 2:00 pm) and lots of options. I ended up getting a regular mango smoothie with boba and it was not what I was expecting. The drink tasted really icy and pretty artificial, and when I first got it, it seemed like the syrup or whatever they put in it was separating from the ice slush. My drink was pretty underwhelming, but my friend really liked their thai iced tea. If I'm back, it won't be for the mango smoothie. read more

What can I say, this place is wonderful and lovely. I was excited to see a new bubble tea shop opening up in Lowell. This place is well decorated and is a great spot to hang out with your friends or family. This shop has games for you to play with when it your friends. I have came here multiple times, and each time is a wonderful time. The location of the shop has made it convenient for me to come here after school or on a half day with my friends. We came here twice, the first time just to check it out and get some drinks. We were very impressed with their menu, which has a huge range of drinks and toppings to add. The second time we came in, we ordered a black milk tea with boba (their best seller) and the jasmine matcha macchiato with boba. We also got their vanilla honey toast which, while similar to the puffy waffles, was in a league of its own. Not quite French toast, but almost. I loveeeee their drinks! The bobas especially are on point. My go to will always be the jasmine milk tea with boba and the jasmine matcha milk tea with pudding. Every two weeks when I'm around the area I always go. I don't even mind paying 2$ for 2 hour parking even though I'm in the store for 5 minutes only. I'm so happy to have found the place ! I haven't tried the desserts yet but when I took my friend she said it was good so I'll take her word for it. Finally a place that tastes like actual Taiwanese bubble tea. So happy to finally have a dessert place in Lowell! We stopped in to check it out and the staff were really friendly and helped us decide what the different kind of Korean desserts were on the menu. I was really looking forward to this new place, but was sadly disappointed. Its a small little spot in downtown Lowell near Merrimack street. They have great looking desserts, unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. I enjoyed the Thai milk tea but the honeydew shake and taro shakes I can get anywhere else like Yummy Express or Snowdaes for better taste and probably for the same price or less. Great hang out spot for kids and Lowell high/ MCC students. Not for ppl who hate looking for parking in downtown. Here the employees, interior, and milk tea were all very nice. I would definitely come back again as it is one of the closest ppaces near me that has boba tea on the menu. My only suggestion is for the actual boba pearls to be sweeter because when the milk tea is sweet but the boba is not, it's a little offputting. It still tastes good though! read more

yup, i'm going to be a regular here now! i've only been to boba places in boston's chinatown hesitating to try places outside of the city. on a whim, i was in lowell and figured why not give sweet journey a try? i ordered the black milk tea with lychee topping and it was difficult not to just drink the whole tea in one sip! the amount of sugar and tea is well balanced as well as knowing it's dairy free that gets even more bonus points because i am lactose intolerant. if you're looking for boba tea that's authentic and delicious i HIGHLY recommend giving sweet journey a try that's well worth the drive or stop in town! :) read more
